Speaking as a Squadron Supreme fan, they're not supposed to be nice. They're closer to Marvel's version of the Crime Syndicate than the Justice League. They were created to be villains and probably their most sympathetic portrayal is the Gruenwald miniseries where they created a global totalitarian state by accident.
That being said, the new series is trying too hard to make them seem like good guys.
