John K's opinion about anthro is kind of shit desu senpai. Robin Hood had extremely charming character designs, but John K refers to them as just being animal heads on human bodies.
Also, I question any claim that Robin Hood was "made by furries." Sure, there have always been people who are attracted to anthropomorphic animals, but the furry fandom didn't really exist back in the early 1970s. The movie called for a dashing and heroic lead character who happens to also be a fox, so that's what the artists drew. The role of Maid Marian called for a kind and beautiful female character who happened to be a fox, so that's what they drew.
I think John K is just making broad generalizations because he hated the movie and saying stuff like that ups his rep as being part of the "anti-Disney" movement in the animation community. Robin Hood may be a flawed movie but it clearly did something right to have become such a fan favorite, even if we discount all the people who have sexual thoughts about the characters.

I think Zootopia will be a merchandising success, but not quite the way Cars was. It will move a shitton of plush toys, I'm sure, although kids don't really outgrow toy cars quite as early as stuffed animals. Then again, Cars is a very childish looking movie and I wouldn't think that it necessarily has the same lasting appeal towards kids who build massive Hotwheels tracks in their basements, so what do I know.
In terms of popularity, there's no knowing what will be the next Frozen, because audiences are unpredictable that way. I suspect it will be a bigger hit than Wreck It Ralph and at the very least will be comparable to Big Hero 6, but we'll have to wait and find out.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Star Wars got released in the USA first is because 1) Disney wanted to avoid spoilers getting out, and 2) it's Star Wars and they knew it would make $1 billion + merchandising even if some poorfag slavs pirate it. Star Wars was exceptional, because for every other movie these days it's the norm to release it internationally before the domestic release. Also, foreign dubs act as a sort of built-in region coding, because pirates generally only want to bother with the English version and then add subtitle files to it.
