This week discount shopping I got delicious cake!
>>
>>78919022
Oh shit, bread.
>>
>>78919022
fuck thats cheap for delicious looking cakes

do you knwo how much they are normally?
>>

Enjoy getting fat so I can jiggle your flabs.
>>
>>78919048
Around twice that. I buy a lot of half price stuff. Sometimes even 70% discount.
>>
>>78919066
I was losing weight being on a healthier diet and exercising daily by riding a bike everywhere but them I found out how to get discount bread and I recovered most of it so I'm back a bit of chubby. I still not fat and I hope I can get healthier again when I stop being busy and have more time for physical activities instead of spending all day sitting on a chair.
>>
>>78919092
is just an end of day thing where all the freshly baked shit is no longer fresh and gona get thrown away?
or is it like this stuff that was made a week ago is about to expire?
>>
>>78919126
Expiration date seems to be pretty strict so "expired" cake is just a few days old and still pretty fresh. The day before when the supermarket was about to close they were with discount but not half price. In the next day, they were with half price around lunch time.

Each store have their routine and knowing it allows you to buy stuff with greater discount.

That said I don't plan to buy that much cake at once any time soon. I just got an opportunity to try different types of cake to find out which ones I like best.
>>
>>78919022
literally 400 calories per slice for every piece of that shit. Check any asian market for comparable.

It's insane. If they didn't work themselves to suicide they'd all be fatter than we are.

The difference is that japs eat one slice a day, and don't drink a litre of soda to it.
>>
>>78919281

>>
>>78919276
Ironically I couldn't get any cheap christmas cake after christmas. I looked for them but couldn't get any half priced christmas cake all the christmas cake was still more expensive than I thought I could get and in the end I got none ;__;

>>78919271
They are not fat because they walk/ride a bicycle everywhere and usually don't stuff their face with cake. Unlike me, in the first day I ate 1/4 of that and them shared with a friend who ate 1/4 of that too and I ate 1/8 while we talk and more 1/8 latter. Now that I already tried all flavors I'm a bit more moderate so I will be less of a fatfuck for the next days. So exercising is the only thing preventing obesity I hope I can get healthier when I get more free time again.
>>
>>78919331
Just sayyin.
>>
>>78919184
Lucky. My supermarket only ever has discount fish they sell at the end of the day.
>>
>>78919362
in fairness I used to drink an absurd amount of soda.

these days it's coffee
>>
>>78919362
And them some idiots come saying how rice is unhealthy, empty calories, blahbluhbleh while ignoring the obvious thing that Asians eat lots of rice and little soda and are not fat while amerifats drinks lots of soda and little rice and are fat. Yeah, rice is the problem. People ate white rice for thousands of years and obesity was never an issue like today, suddenly people start chuging corn syrup all day and tries to blame stuff that was around way before landwhales became a problem.
>>
>>78919369
The thing about supermarkets here is that the price of fresh products fluctuates wildly every day. The same item can be 50% more expensive depending on the day with no relation to expiration date. I think this is made to stimulate impulse buying. It is pretty obvious with products like bacon that don't spoil easily.

>>78921156
Sometimes weird habits get picked up, when I was a kid I used to drink nothing but tea because I saw Cabin Fever and was terrified of a flesh eating virus being in the water. My parents eventually staged an intervention by driving up to a cabin and forcing me to drink the tap water or die of dehydration.

Dammit, Mary-senpai.
>>
>>78921259

Yeah, extraneous circumstances influence our dietary habits a lot. I've had a nasty stomach bug over Christmas time, barely ate and only drank water and tea for like 3 weeks, which resulted in me losing like 7 pounds and pretty much not touching Soda anymore, so i'm actually kinda happy, even if I had to miss out on delicious Christmas food.
>>
>>78921233
>But water gets boring as fuck.
Food doesn't exist to excite you. It exists to keep you alive. If you crave something sweet just eat an apple or make some tea.
>Plus, I really need the caffeine.
Stop doing drugs. Swapping one for another is zero progress.
>>
>>78921222
Oh I know. I'm not delusional. Like I said, I gotta switch to something else. Part of my problem is that drinking something is an addiction for me. Like, the act itself. I can give up the booze, but I need to drink something else. Like how smokers say the ACT of smoking is more addicting than the nicotine because of the oral fixation.

>>78921244
Not much of a problem there, since I don't like sugar in my coffee at all. It's just hard to have coffee on hand. Especially because I like ice coffee. It's difficult to brew it and chill it throughout the day.

Kids will get into shit they shouldn't and his teaching me firearms safety is probably what stopped me from killing the toilet. He replaced the safe and changed the combo becasue we lived in a rough neighborhood where cops had a tendency to always show up after shit went down so it was probably more secure with it in the house than not.

I drink juice or eat an orange. I only drink sodas when there is a new limited edition one that here is all the time but even then I choose which one I will try and don't drink again since I like juice better. Also my stinginess works in my favor since I only buy when the product is considerably cheaper than normal so I don't buy sodas/juices unless I find a really good deal.

Truth. The only way juice is "healthier" than soda is that it comes with a few vitamins, but you're honestly much, much better of just eating a piece of fruit since you get the fiber that has been removed from the juice.

To drink juice without downing mass amounts of sugar, dilute it with water. It still tastes good and your water becomes less boring.
>>
>>78921743
>Don't do this. Juice is not better. It's the same thing as soda
No, it isn't, unless you are talking about kool-aid stuff. Of course it can have as much sugar as soft drinks but it also have vitamins, antioxidants and fiber and those components count. Also carbonated drinks are full of sodium.

Rice is not unhealthy, neither are fruits, they have been consumed by our ancestors since the first human on Earth.
>But modern fruit have been selected to have lots of sugar bluhblehblah
There are plenty of wild fruits rich in sugar and even the domesticated ones have been consumed for centuries.
Real juice is way better than coke but of course anything in excess is harmful, even water or oxygen.
>>
>>78921862
Reading labels don't means you are a nutritionist. Just means that you have basic literacy. People like you are the same ones saying how rice is unhealthy because it is mainly carbohydrates and have no idea that even the addition of vinegar like in sushi rice, fat or animal protein affects how it is processed and absorbed affecting how your blood sugar level is raised and if it will induce your body to store the excess of sugar into fat or increase your metabolism.
>>
>>78922260
>>78922174

The vast majority of store bought juices are full of more sugar than you ever need, whether it be added or from concentrate. You're better off eat actual fruits; getting full will keep you from guzzling more calories than you need, and you'll get just as much vitamins and then some.
Just don't drink juice. Eat actual fruits, drink water, make your own juice if you must. But do not buy juice.
>Also carbonated drinks are full of sodium.
Still not a significant source. The sugar from it will kill you long before the sodium. You wanna know what's full of sodium? Ramen packets. 1000+mg. That shit is toxic.

1. here juice is cheaper, and I just drink it occasionally it have been more than one week since the last time I drank juice
2. Of course eating fruits is better but it is not always possible, well, I eat free samples when I go to the supermarket...
3. Yeah, ramen are full of sodium, I use them when I'm really tired and have stuff to do. Probably the sodium raise the blood pressure keeping me more alert caffeine helps too but it have limits and shorter term side effects when in excess.
4. Sodium doesn't kill you unless you go overboard with absurd amounts. The problem with all those things are long term effects.

Three cups of ramen a day is too much sodium, and that's assuming you ingest nothing else during the day.
A single slice of bread is 200mg.
A bagel is 500mg.
A serving of cheese is 150mg.
Just salting/seasoning your food is likely to add 100-300mg a serving.
It goes on and on. Sodium is in surprisingly large quantities in everything we eat. You only need 2300mg a day at most; slapping on 1000+ from a cup of fucking ramen is a wholly unnecessary excess. It won't even fill you for all it adds.
I had to regularly deal with high blood pressure problems because of that shit. Just don't deal with ramen. Fuck it, fuck it forever.

Who said anything about three cups of ramen? That was just a number for lines, not for amount. I rarely eat them either but keep them for when I have nothing else, don't want to cook or really need the salt to stay awake and get shit done.

Also the balance between sodium and potassium is more important than the amount of sodium and Japanese rice is rich in potassium and uses no salt in cooking.
>>

>>
>>78923338
Sodium is only dangerous in the event you don't drink water, have a sedentary lifestyle and/ or have a history of high blood pressure. The AHA even says that sodium isn't that bad for normal people and the 'recommended daily intake' is taking into account a large sample size and geared towards elderly.

Many products are so cheap in mass production, it is almost impossible to make them yourself at even a comparable price.
I can get a salami pizza for around 90 cents and just bake it in the oven.
I can't really justify making that on an economic basis.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are also quite expensive compared to sweets and starch products.

However, the overworked and underfed workers of Central Europe have long lived off little money and little time with a diet based around whole-grain bread (today often with seeds, nuts and other ingredients) and pickled/canned vegetables. Also beer, but with clean water that is a minor concern.

Labels are the only weapon we have in a war against food companies that are constantly trying to deceive us with propaganda, fad diets and rumors about homeopathic remedies.

Don't tell a fat person to limit their sugar intake because a spoonful of vinegar will increase your metabolism or whatever. There may be truth to what you're saying but simple solutions need to come before complex ones. Don't optimize small details before you even have good habits in general.

What I'm saying is that you don't have the right knowledge to interpret the labels. Food and the human body is more than the sum of all components. By reading label only people like you reach the conclusion that rice, bread, and noodles are unhealthy empty calories that are absorbed fast and turned into fat when they are completely wrong.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12792658

I am exactly against all those fad diets made by people that only read labels and can't interpret them and adopt the diets that have been tested for hundreds of years in many cultures. And no paleofags, you don't know what caveman diet was like. Scientists are still discussing this shit.

Protein they started getting taller as more protein was added to their diet, they still have low obesity rates but it is increasing as their diet is becoming more and more westernized

So if you eat a quarter cup of white rice by itself, two hours later, your blood sugar measurements will have increased by approximately 30% more than if you eat that rice with other foods. Okay fine, whatever. The problem is that you have to communicate ALL of that information to someone when you tell them that "white rice is good for you". Specifically, that they should only eat a quarter cup of white rice.

Most people aren't at that stage of improving their nutrition. They're thinking, "I drink soda three times a day. How do I cut out soda from diet? I know, I'll just drink apple juice!" For these people it is very helpful to have labels that tell them that apple juice has nearly as much sugar as soda. It makes no sense to denigrate people for reading labels at this stage of improving their health. The first step to eating healthily is to monitor how many calories you take in.

The Japanese are healthy and live long lives primarily because they eat small portions of white rice with lots of fish and vegetables, not because white rice has good synergy with vinegar.

To me hot is the worst, 0C with rain is the second worst, the rain and wind negates the insulation of your clothes unless you get impermeable clothes and them the moisture condenses and your get sticky/soggy/cold, stable -5C~-10C is the best. No sweating like a pig, your clothes actually protect you from cold, snow that falls on you can be shaken away in seconds. Freaking cold is the best!
>>
>>78925977
The Inuit diet traditionally had a decent amount of plant sources seasonally and obesity and heart problems coincided more with the decline of traditional Inuit lifestyle rather than a shift to a western diet; they've had ready access to western diets for a century.
>>
>>78926055
That shouldn't even be possible. Like, the air shouldn't be able to contain enough moisture to register as humid. Are you sure you're not living in some layer of hell?
>>
>>78926127
That was just one example of many. Food is way more complex than just how much of X is in there.

The body also is complex, getting 500 calories of candy doesn't have the the same effect as 500 calories of bread or rice even if they are basically 500 calories of carbohydrates. Your body is not simply a machine where you add and subtract the numbers in the labels and believing in that leads to erroneous conclusions and decisions. There are people who dedicated many years of study to understand how everything interacts but instead people listen to the mass media and the mass media listen to the charismatic hack with the newest fad diet.

>>
>>78926343
I'm not saying that the body isn't complex. I'm saying that studies involving 50g of white rice are useless to someone who is trying to make the decision between drinking apple juice and water.

I agree, different types of food interacting with each other can have different results. But saving 15g on white rice because you ate it with vinegar isn't going to help someone who eats 300g of white rice.

Simple solutions come first. Only when you are eating reasonable portions can you worry about combining foods to maximize synergy.

>I'm not saying that the body isn't complex. I'm saying that studies involving 50g of white rice are useless to someone who is trying to make the decision between drinking apple juice and water.
You are missing the point. that study is not to solve all questions, it is just to point out that things don't work by simple association.

But saving 15g on white rice because you ate it with vinegar isn't going to help someone who eats 300g of white rice.
Yes it does. They studied with 15g because they needed a specific measurable amount for the study. The meaning is that the glycemic index can't be calculated just with the isolated components of a meal.

>Simple solutions come first
Just eat how people used to eat. This last century lifestyle changes that made people fat, not foods that have been available for centuries. You don't even need to know how to read for this.

>No pronouns
That's pretty cool. How many "statuses" are their in Japanese grammar? Like, is it all just junior, senior and equal?
>>
>>78926757
I agree that things don't work EXACTLY by simple association. But there are some simple associations that are always true on a broad level, one of those being that a high sugar intake makes you fat and puts you at risk for a wide variety of health conditions. You think there never was a study about the effects of eating a lot of sugar vs not eating a lot of sugar?

The problem with your example is that it is DECEPTIVE in its scale. Yes, it is true, things are not as clear-cut as "rice is empty calories". However, people don't communicate the actual scientific conclusions of nutritional research. In practice, these studies become the basis for fad diets... just try the "rice and vinegar diet", eat all the rice you want and you'll lose weight because vinegar interacts with rice!

It's true, you can't rely on any one study to draw meaningful dietary conclusions. It's better to base your diet on widely drawn conclusions from numerous studies, for example: "Don't eat a lot of sugar." DAMN, that's hard though... how will I know how much sugar is in what I eat? Oh yeah... LABELS.
>>
>>78926757
>Just eat how people used to eat.
people ate in a thousand different ways that we know of and many more that we don't. And even then you might end up forfeiting genuinely good things because they weren't around in the past or eating poor foods for the same reason.

Guinness is a good one. Unlike the others you've named, it's a darker beer and had a heavier, maltier flavor than the others you've named.

What was it you didn't like specifically about those beers though? With the rise of craft beers, there are hundreds of flavors available outside the big breweries, and while they'll be more expensive on average, the alcohol content will make up for the price and you can often grab 12-pack brewery samplers on sale for a good value.

I for one love imperial coffee stouts (heavy, dark, malty, bit of coffee bite), and my fiancee favors sours (light, fruity, very sour).

Beer has a history almost as long as our species, don't let people tell you the big breweries are all beer is.

Yes, concentrated juice or syrup is a bad idea to drink.

Diluting your normal juice (best use pure natural juice with no additives, of course) with water is a good idea.
Of course, nothing keeps you from getting fat like just water, but thinned grape or apple juice is great in taste. Just calculate the calories per serving and the taste to what you find appropriate.

Beer is not for everyone, though. If you have a lager, or Pils and don't really like the pure beer taste, you can mix it half and half with Sprite.
That balances out the bitter and sweet tastes nicely.

It's a cute comic about life as a teacher abroad. Get that sand out of your vagina.

Time really isn't an issue for many. It's more of a way of thinking - convenient and cheap > good taste. Material rationality is valued most.

The sweet flavor is a bit difficult to get in a beer, but far from impossible. Wheat beers tend to be on the sweeter side, but they'll still have some bitterness.

Many of the sweet beers show up as seasonals, and are pricy even by beer standards. Avery's Pump[KY]n (pumpkin porter aged in Bourbon barrels) is like pumpkin pie in a glass, but runs around $15 for an 8 oz bottle.

I'd stay away from beers advertised as chocolate because many are made with either chocolate malt (Not chocolate) or straight cocoa (bitter, not sweet).

One that is available everywhere at a decent price though is Left Hand's milk stout, either regular or nitro (nitrogen injected into the beer post-production for smoother bubbles). This beer is brewed with lactose (don't get if intolerant, obviously) which unlike regular sugar, the yeast does not digest out so easily, leaving a sweeter flavor out of the bottle.

But considering just how sweet plum wine is, beer may not be your poison. The ones you will enjoy will be few in number, but they do exist!

I don't think that works when you don't spent all day working on the field and making clothes for yourself

Water isn't caffeinated, I'm working from 9 to 6 tonight.

And I DO drink water. Probably not as much as I ought to though, I'll admit.

I appreciate the information, but I'm probably just going to stick to liquor, but I don't really drink except during the holidays, so honestly I just don't think alcohol is my thing.

Probably for the best. If you really want sweet, then liquor is the way to go. If for no other reason than you mix up some really fruity shit.
