You know, I always wanted David to do something with The Muppets. I know he did Labyrinth, but I figured he'd gel really well with Kermit and the gang, but he was too busy taking drugs in the Seventies to find time in his schedule to appear on The Muppet Show. Maybe Sam would keep trying to get David to perform The Laughing Gnome, but he'd turn it around and get to sing Starman or Magic Dance instead, with the puppets from Labyrinth as backup singers, telling him afterwards how good it was to see him again.

It's left nebulous but I like to think the shapeshifter killed Bowie after Space Oddity and all the weird personas that followed starting with Ziggy were the shapeshifter. I mean Bowie did nothing for 2 years after Space Oddity was played during the broadcast of the Moon Landing. People were calling him a one-hit-wonder and then, out of nowhere, Ziggy Stardust.
That way the Shapeshifter gets credit for killing Bowie, but is still most of the best parts of Bowie.
