Like 2014 and 2015 weren't bad enough.
At least he got to release Blackstar a couple of days ago.
Fuck, he didn't even hit 70. What happened?
>>78885822
Apparently he had cancer for a while and kept it quiet.
Bowie facts: he though Nirvana's "Man Who Sold The World" was one of the greatest covers of all time and made him realize he had fans outside the UK, but it pissed him off that a generation of 'murricans thought it was a Nirvana song he did covers of.
>>78885703

He took it all too far
But, boy, could he play guitar
Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind, ah
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man
I had to break up the band
>>78885880
Well yeah. He just released Blackstar to rave reviews.
Considering he was fighting cancer for a good while he had pretty fucking good timing to go when he did. He breathed his last knowing he still had it.

Without hesitation I'd have to place him as my favorite musician. Sound and Vision is also without a doubt my favorite song of all time.
He also had a big impact on a friend of mine's life, as when she saw Labyrinth when she was little Bowie taught her what the difference between boys and girls was.

Suffragette City is probably one of my favorite songs and it became sort of an rousing anthem for me.
I felt pretty shitty about myself but it got me to get off my ass, work on my art, get over a girl who I realized didn't even respect me, and focus on what's important. Now I'm back in school, confident, studying what I love and working at a job I actually enjoy. I know it's corny, and I know it shouldn't have taken me a fucking song with a killer fucking bass line to wise up, but listening to it made me feel like I could be cooler. It made me work harder. It made me enjoy being me and it's something I don't remember feeling before in my whole life.

How's Iggy Pop doing these days?
I never know how to react when celebs I like die. I'm not sad because in the end, I didn't know them personally and for me it would feel mawkish to be upset about the death of someone I never met. And I don't really know what to say about it. I guess I regret that he died, for what thats worth.
Fuck you, 2016. This is how we're starting? Fuck you.
>>78886943

>>78886941
I GUESS U CAN SAY HES GOT A LUST FOR LIFE
XD
>>78886943
Same here.
The only "celebrity" I've been close to being really sad about was Terry Pratchett. But that was only because his books are the reason I really learned English, which is huge, and because he died on my birthday, which was already shaping up to be a shitty day before I heard the news.
>>78886943
I don't even listen to his music.
I heard people keep on referencing him. Hell, I didn't even watch the labyrinth.
>>78886943
If you can't feel anything over a celebrity death then it had never made an impact in any part of your life. I was bawing silently when Robin Williams died. I grew up on his movies. I remember watching Hook at the theaters with my dad.
Anyone /v/ remember this little gem from the Rock Band series?
>>78886943
There's nothing wrong with feeling nothing about someone you don't even know on a personal level dying. The reason why some people get worked up over celebrity/artist deaths are because they are connected to the individual through their work and how that work has touched their lives, so they feel more emotional attachment to them and their death thus has a deeper impact upon them.
You can sympathize with the death but that doesn't make you a bad person for not really "feeling" anything from it.

I guess that makes sense. To be honest I can't think of any celebrities I feel that kind of connection to. I felt a bit sad when Williams died mainly because it was such a depressing way for someone to die.

He BETTER be!
It will freak me the fuck out if he is still alive today.

I didn't know him either, but I'm fucking sad. That isn't even an obnoxiously sentimental feeling to have; it's natural. The guy touched a lot of lives through his work and it's only natural for someone to feel some amount of grief over his passing.
On that note why would you regret his death? It's not like you killed him. Regret only sounds even more personal.
