Whatever is up with Adam will probably wait for another time when focus rolls back to Blake again. Blake got a lot out of the end of Vol 1 and in Vol 2 so she'll either come back into focus for the end of this one or next volume.
In a sense, the show suffers a little because objectively, Cinder is almost too good an antagonist (as a block or threat to our protagonists). She's got a decent evil plan and keeps it moving forward even if the heroes chip at it - but it means she has a lot of momentum which keeps the central world plot moving, at the cost of development time for characters not following that momentum.
Adam is important to Blake's personal arc, possibly important for Weiss, but Cinder has deliberately made him and the White Fang a small cog in her big machine.
