Yes, it was a 4 episode arc that was terrible and for some reason Lucas put it out as a film and ended up giving the series a shit ton of negative press

but I have to admit that all the villains were indoubtely trated better in the animated series
theyre so drastically different to reasonably compare that doing so is silly and there's no reason that one needs to choose one over the other
