Post and discuss shows that blur the /co/-/a/ line.
I'll start:
>animated in Japan
>everything else produced in europe
>fairytale structure
I'm gonna call it european.
Moomin's in the middle, too.

Once Upon a Time... Life
The space one also had Japan animation

>>78806237
>>78805581
>animated in japan
it doesn't matter, or you'd just call modern /co/ /korea/ from now on
>>78806272
Nice point, but i meant that except for scripts and storyboards everything was done in japan, while modern /co/ mostly just outsources inbetweeners.
>>78806304
wtf is MAL
Show based on Japanese mythology
Animated by Koreans
With American VA
What is this?
>>78805581
>creator is an American
>moves to japan
>get comic published by kondasha
IS it a manga or a comic? cause this shit isn't alaowed in /a/ or /co/.
>>78806365
MyAnimeList
>>78806480
My thoughts has always been this.
If I make a comicbook in Japan; it's Manga
If I make a Manga in America; it's a comicbook.
I don't wanna post another euro-produced show, but why is this mostly considered /a/ while most other european shows of the time are mostly seen as euro/co/?
>>78806272
>/korea/
>not /co/rea
C'mon, step it up
>Creator is Japanese
>Moved to America
>Now writers/draws comics with heavy Japanese influence
>>78807042
Pierrot did the animation
How about Studio Ghibli's latest film: "The Red Turtle"? It's a Japan/France co-production with a French director but is animated in Japan.
>>78808146
If you mean pierrot did cities of gold...
>>78806237

I guess it's because of DIC

Wasn't that one of the inspirations for One Piece?
>adaptation of Holmes, so English-language stories set in England with English main characters
>Japanese-Italian coproduction
>idea for show and main characters' designs came from Italy
>scripts/storyboards/direction done by the Japanese, with Miyazaki initially involved
>voice track first recorded in English by American VAs
I'd say it's anime, but it was treated as a straight cartoon in Italy and the US in the '80s.
A little weird how so many schroedinger /a/s are (at least partly) european.
>>78809645
most 80's animation was done in Japan. That's why the intros are so good.
Pissyfur season 1 was animated by a Japanese studio

The Red Turtle, an coming co-production between Ghibli and a french studio. It will be an animated feautre without any voiced dialogue

Came here to post this.

>Wasn't that one of the inspirations for One Piece?
Why yes. I believe it was.
Shame it got a charmless CG remake.
Does...does Wakfu count?
>>78805581
Why does France always have the best and catchiest 80's animu intros?

They remade fucking Wicki in CGI? Literally, what's the point? Back when my younger sisters who are 13 now were kids the old cartoons were still on TV here in Germany.
>>78821704
If anyone's interested, I'm still seeding the torrent of this from the thread two weeks ago. Torrent 6466598 on tpb.
>>78810043
Reminder that the Mysterious Cities of Gold was a show written and directed by the French, based on an American novel, animated and first released in Japan.
>>78821880
With the best music Shuki Levy ever put out.
I really need to rewatch this.
I remember it being completely ridiculous and most of the humor consisting mostly of animal abuse.
>>78821780
Well, since I started the thread everything counts as long as it does blur the line.
Even Panty & Stocking ( for me /a/ btw)
>>78821822
They remade multiple of the ZDF shows in CG, so I guess it was out of some stupid "CG is the future"-style hype.
>>78805581
It was interesting how in this show the characters actually grow up.
Like we see Alfred and that Crow in school, and then we see the Crow grow up and become literally Hitler
>>78822662
Honestly, it's also kinda weird to see an early 90s cartoon AIMED AT kids having more thought out (political) messages than most modern adult cartoons.btw that ending of the crow party arc still creeps me out
>>78822818
>btw that ending of the crow party arc still creeps me out
I forget, what hapened?
>>78822989
Dunno about the english dub, but you can find pretty much the whole german dub on youtube and bs.to
The last scene of the arc:
https://youtu.be/2tpR256_qbE?t=19m2stranslated quote: "This time you may have won Alfred, but one day I will have power again, and THEN i'll come back."
(The word choice completes it.)
>>78823085
The last scene starts at 19:02
(apparently 4chan doesn't support partial youtube embedding)I got the feeling of a derailed thread now.
>>78805581
>Wakfu
I tell all my friends its an anime, but point out that France is better than Nipland so its a superior anime.
>>78823085
Well, at least by the end of the series Dolf is arrested and put in prison for good, and lost any chance of ever fooling the people again
>>78816726
Yes, it was a cartoon about the human body that was also made it into books for kids to learn. You're probably European if you recognize it
>>78823737
Where's that from?
RURU
>>78823827
You don't need to let everyone know you're the OP, it's not neessary
>>78824035
That's about as /co/ as Kappa Mikey is /a/.
So, not really.
>>78823827
The Adventures of Lolo The Penguin, though for some reason it's Scamper instead of Lolo in the states. It's just basically Bambi with penguins.
>>78824219
It's a japanese cartoon that's satire of western cartoons
So fundamentally not much different to avatar or korra
>>78821810
Fuck yeah, Ulysse 31!
>>78806480
>cause this shit isn't alaowed in /a/ or /co/.
Prolly coz it's shit and deserve to be forgotten.
Spanish/Japanese.
>>78824489
M8. Learn2Read. That's not what OP meant.
>>78824888
>shows that blur the /co/-/a/ line
But that's exactly what it is
Does Oban Star Recers count? Its probably my favorite collab between west and east.
>>78826930
>pretty much a french imitation anime
>japanese studio involved
I dont see a problem. Also I didn't even know that existed, so thanks. The original purpose of this thread was widening the anons' perception on this kind of stuff
>>78827261
I thinks that it is very underrated, you should watch it.
The only problem with it is the dated CG.
Transformers is a fine example.
American-owned franchise based on Japanese character designs.
First 3 seasons are anime-esque American cartoon while seasons 4-6 are straight anime.
Roughly half the spinoff series are American cartoons and the other half are translated anime.
>>78827295
Not to pick on the show, but...
>produced in france
>german dub is still anime-tier god-awful
Really nigga?
>>78827395
I watched it on english and latin american spanish.
German seems like a very hard language to translate things to.
>>78827434
That's not the problem though. I'm talking about shitty voice acting and a lipsync accuracy of about 40%
>Thread
>It's almost all furry
>Once again
Damn /co/.
You got a problem.
>>78831398
>27 shows/comics/whatever listed here
>9 furry (10 if you count moomins)
>16 non furry (17 if you count the Wickie remake as seperate)
obligatoryb8meme.jpg
>>78821822
The live action movie (complete with casting show for some of the roles preceding it) proved that the franchise wasn't dead yet, so I guess that was their cue.
>>78827434
There's some cartoons with genuinely good German dubs. It's less of a translation issue and more the fact that they don't seem to care most of the time.
>>78822317
HOLY FUCK I loved this series!
>>78805581
What isn't animated in asia?
Even the simpsons was animated in Korea before they went into full robot animation.
>>78838465
Already replied to a similar comment with >>78806344 , but despite me apparently being proven wrong about the keyframes, I do have to add that the show's direction was given to a japanese (Hiroshi Saito), even though everything else about it being done in europe (mostly the netherlands)
