What do you want out of the Batfleck solo films?
>>
>>78783822
Action batman. Thats all.
>>
A hot Catwoman
>>
A noir-ish mystery/thriller. I couldn't care less about the action. My dream would be David Fincher directing it.
>>
>>78783822
A Gigli reference
>>
Will Smith not being in any of them.
>>
>>78783822
A mix between Nolan and Burton
>>
>>78783822
This bats has a lot of baggage. So it's going to be fun to see how he started, get a feel for how he became the jaded billionaire playboy he is today (ie. Batman v Superman) And how he and Leto play off of each other. A lot to be excited for.

This guy directing it could potentially be great
>>
Affleck is confirmed to actually be directing it, right?

Just make another Ben Affleck crime movie but put Batman in it.
>>
>>78784048
The Town with Batman would be too depressing
>>
>>78783822
I just hope they don't do any Batman prequels after BvS
>>
>>78784048
>Affleck is confirmed to actually be directing it, right?

Not officially, but he said in an interview that if his schedule lines up right, he'd like to. Then there was the rumor that he and Geoff Johns were deep into writing a movie. He's more than likely going to do it, maybe announced once he's done filming his new movie.
>>
>>78783822

I want to see little, self-contained movies where Batman solves crimes, instead of having to face down enormous cases that threaten the future of Gotham, or the east coast, or the rest of the world.

Something like...the Penguin is being framed for a crime he didn't commit and Batman is really conflicted as to whether he should help or not, and eventually has to crack the case for principle reasons, beyond anything else.
>>
>>78784099
Why not?
>>
>>78784092

Good. I want a gritty crime thriller starring Batfleck.

If you aren't going to let Affleck be Affleck you're just wasting everyone's time, he's managed to build an actual personal style over just three movies and I want to see Batman cracking skulls there. If WB is letting David Ayer smear his hyper-masculine LA gang-banger machismo over Suicide Squad the lest they could do is let Ben do his thing.

My ambivalence over Dong of Justice doesn't spread to the solo movies. If they're actually going to le these people go buck-wild with these characters I'm fucking excited.
>>
>>78783822
Anything but another Joker, a good Penguin, Two-Face or Riddler would be cool.
>>
>>78784357

A real, honest to God Penguin movie would be fantastic. Something where Bats has to use his brain more than his fists, please.
>>
>>78783822
Thinner Batman

Something with detective shenanigans. BvS is giving us a Batman whose technology and combat skills are more or less on par with his comic counterpart. And this is good.

But, a solo Batman flick would be a golden opportunity to (FINALLY) establish big screen Batman as the World's Greatest Detective, something which previous incarnations have mostly failed to do Nolan Bats came close, but still didn't quite make the grade.

Hell, it could even be about the Court of Owls if a run of the mill crime thriller wouldn't cut it.
>>
>>78785182

Considering Affleck made Gone Baby Gone, he can certainly direct a solid detective movie.
>>

More Batfamily, other Bat villains who aren't the Joker, Batman who actually goes detective work and uses his gadgets.
>>
Batman with teleportation and invisibility powers
>>
>>78785214
It would certainly set a very good precedent. Directors playing to their strengths rather than being micromanaged by the higher ups. It would certainly keep things from being too cookie cutter, and diversity among DC's offerings would certainly help them stand out from the competition.
>>
Something new. Adapt Dr. Hurt or something, let joker fucking rest, there's nothing left to do with him that isn't some sort of meta dissection.
>>

Setup for Oracle/the Birds of Prey, and Cassandra Cain.

>>

>>
>>78785446

Well considering Suicide Squad looks like David Ayer The Movie I don't think DC is micro-managing these people too much. If they were managing these people even a little bit that movie would NOT look like that, it's such a pure reflection of Ayer's corn-rows-and-testosterone aesthetic.

You can't argue people don't have strong opinions on SS, at least. That movie is keeping people talking, whether it's praise or being the butt of a thousand jokes.

It's 2016, it's time to fix Batman's egregious diversity problems.
>>
>>78785558
I see good things for Suicide Squad. And if Ayer does well there, there might be room for the Lovecraft-inspired Aquaman that Wan seems to be planning.
>>
Well this Batman is already 10x better than what we've gotten before considering the outrageous world he's in, his experience, the time, and the tools at his disposal. We're probably getting a Red Hood story, which could be a good and bad thing. If they play their cards right, it would enable them to bring in a lot of batman rogues at once

You could have Penguin and Black Mask having a turf war, Riddler teasing about the Red Hoods identity while acting like a intellectual jigsaw style killer, or just have several cameos at arkham like Clayface or Scarecrow. Heck you could even have Man Bat as the opening cameo
>Thugs start talking about the bat, one trying to convince the other that he's real
>Try to steal a car, Man Bat shows up, they think he's the batman
>They flee, separate, the creature closes in on one of them
>Batman shows up, grapples with him, Man Bat takes him for a joyride across Gotham, guy is speechless
>Batman finally needles him, returns to human, escorts him to arkham
>>
>>78785634
>Lovecraft inspired
Really? Sounds like Orm is recruiting the Trench.
>>
>>78785634

Ayer is such a coin-flip writer and director that it could really turn out either way. The one thing I'm worried out is that he's incapable of writing women in his movies and this one has three of them in it, so that's not a great sign.

>James Wan Aquaman

I'm pretty fucking excited about that.
>>
>>78783923
sooo Gotham?
>>
>>78785525
I would be 100% okay with this.
>>
>>78785484
I was just being specific
You can just feel black batman is going to happen.
>>
>>78785525
>>78785845

>Batfleck takes a big shit on Arkham Knight by doing it better

That would be so satisfying. I don't remember the last time I got so mad at a video-game ending.

>>78785855

>Black Batman

That's literally just Black Panther, who's getting a movie.
>>
Under the Red Hood.
>>
>>78785718
Yah m8, after Wan was announced as the director for Aquaman, he confirmed it on twitter with a quote from Lovecraft. Forget from where exactly, but either way, I think that would be a perfect fit for Momoa's barbarian Arthur

Well, Training Day and End of Watch are two of my favorite movies, so I'll have confidence in him until I have reason not to. We'll find out come August. Can't come soon enough if you ask me.
>>
>>78785895
Rocksteady's biggest sin was flat out lying before release. Honestly if Red Hood was marketed beforehand and not this piss poor attempt at a reveal, I think people would have been more ok with it. Or hell instead use Prometheus, makes more sense with the army
>>
>>78785855

>get mad at said made up scenario

Love it when Neck beards do this.
>>
>>78786135

Watch Sabotage and get back to me.

>>78786163

Even if they were 100% honest it still would have failed as a story. The entire Arkham Knight revelation sequence was Poochie-tier.

>I HATE YOU DAD
>I'm sorry Jason :_:
>shitty "boss" fight
>I'm still sorry Jason ;_;
>oh ok nvm gotta go bye
>>
>>78785815
That's Schumacher and Nolan
>>
>>78786222
Yeah you're right. Plus the villains never really combined forces anyway, which was a disappointment
>>
>>78786222
I have actually. Action was pretty good, but the rest of it deserved its reputation. However, I heard somewhere that Ayer didn't really have too much to do with that one plot-wise. Or something to that effect.
>>
>>78786363

I mean it was co-written with Skip Woods, aka The Worst Screenwriter Working In Hollywood, without exaggeration.

So maybe it wasn't all him. I probably shouldn't let my primal hatred of Woods infect my enjoyment of Ayer.
>>
>>78786459
See? There you go. That's pretty much how I see it.

Also, thank you for reminding me who was responsible for that mess. I couldn't remember for the life of me what they guy's name was.
>>
FUNNY joker.
>>
>>78786503

He's the fuck who wrote A Good Day To Die Hard, Swordfish, BOTH Hitman movies, X-Men Origins Wolverine and Thursday, a 90's Tarantino knockoff that's most famous scene is basically "Hey bro what if a woman raped a man it would be so fucking edgy bro ugh I'm so fucking hardcore." And Sabotage.

I really do hate that man's works. But I don't know how much of Sabotage he actually wrote.
>>
>>78786640
Jesus, he's behind all of that shit?

Well hell, if that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a lot of what was wrong with Sabotage was his doing.
>>
>>78783822
dead parents
>>
>>78786677

The best thing he ever wrote was that surprisingly awesome A-Team movie from a few years go, which makes sense because he scripted an early first draft that got heavily re-written into something completely different.

I'm still worried about Ayer writing a movie with women in it. He usually gets around his lack of ability writing them by literally just not putting any in and that works out fine, but SS is going to have multiple "action women" in it and that's a bit worrying. He still approved that fucking terrible character Mirelle Enos played in Sabotage, whether or not he wrote her actual lines.

We'll see. He's a bold choice to put on a superhero project at least, I can admire WB putting someone as weird and different as him on a big-budget Warner cape movie.
>>
>>78786163
It was like Into Darkness all over again.
Fans: BC is Khan.
JJ:LOL NO HE'S NOT HE'S A TOTES ORIGINAL CHARACTER
Fans: We know he's Khan.
JJ:....Okay he's Khan.

If they had mentioned Jason before in Asylum or City before the reveal, then maybe I would've liked the game more, but like >>78786222 said it was terribly done.
Even my friends who aren't familiar with the comics knew it was Jason because of the hamfisted flashbacks and the out of nowhere references to to him.
>>
>>78786640
>But I don't know how much of Sabotage he actually wrote.

Doesn't really matter. Ayer works best when he's left to his own devices. His last 2 movies he's written and directed by himself were both really good.
>>
>>78786769
>We'll see. He's a bold choice to put on a superhero project at least, I can admire WB putting someone as weird and different as him on a big-budget Warner cape movie.
Ayer was actually the one who pitched Suicide Squad to WB. Roven said they basically greenlit the movie in the pitch meeting with him because they liked it so much.
>>
>>78786891
Well, if that's true, I'd say it's a good sign
>>
I still want a Fincher directed Batflick, i wanted that before Nolan was even mentioned to direct Batman.

Dream scenario
The Batman: Directed by Ben Affleck-Gritty detective movie starring Batman with Red Hood and Letoker

The Batman 2: directed by David Fincher- Dark, twisted, detective movie starring Batman with The Scarecrow as the main villain. Bonus: Bring back Cillian Murphy as Dr Crane/Scarecrow
>>
>>78786891

That makes a lot of sense. Ayer loves stories about hyper-masculine teams of men going out and sacrificing themselves in the name of brotherhood, and Suicide Squad is basically the perfect place to tell that story.
>>
court of owls
>>
>>78787105

Fury is basically what you can expect from this. He said he wants to create a sense of family with the group and he did a great job in Fury with creating minor characters you care about and camaraderie out the ass.
>>
>>78787233

That all checks out. It's the stuff he's been doing his entire career.

You ever see Dark Blue? It's a crime movie he co-wrote with the great James Ellroy, a fucking great neo-noir thriller.
>>
>>78787003
>>
Crime solving Wes Aderson film; that is initially taken in jest, but underlying themes pinpoint the essential batman methos of inpermeable plot-armor and prep-time (which isn't unvailed until the pre-climax), resulting in batmans intellect, gadgetry, and sheer badassness is what wins the day.

Something that will resonate with the most basic Batman fans and hardcore comic-readers alike.
>>
Good villains, seriously, I don't go to Batman films to see Batman, I go to see whoever it is that's the bad guy, same wuth spider-man films.

Its gonna be so hard to make a Batman movie because of how stupidly they introduced him in this universe.
Now you have to assume every villain exists in some fashion because it would look really stupid for his iconic villains to debut so late into his career.
So now you can't have origins for the villains
you can't have batman meeting them for the first time
you have to operate as if he knows them already which basically means they are going to have to use characters like Joker,Harley Quinn, Bane, or Scarecrow etc

And if they don't go this route they'll have to pad the movie with forced exposition.

So congrats snyder you ruined batman before he even got a chance
>>
Creating Gotham is most important. It needs to be a unique lived-in space where characters can realistically interact.

After that is done, the plots of these flicks cant just be villain of the week affairs. This isnt the mcu where Captain America doesnt help save the President. Other heroes can literally be there in seconds. For that reason, these stories need to be personal ones where outside help would actually worsen the situation, not out of Bruce's pride, but rather due to their sensitive natures especially when detective work is required. Red Hood is a great example, sure Superman could halt his crusade instantly but that would do more harm psychologically than good. The other villains can come in organically.

So what I propose is...
>Court of Owls flick - feat. Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze
>Under the Red Hood flick - feat. Joker, Harley, Two-Face, Poison Ivy
>Son of Batman flick - feat. Ra's, Talia, Clayface, Pyg
>>
>>78793191
>So now you can't have origins for the villains
>you can't have batman meeting them for the first time
I bet you love CW shitty the flash series.
Kill yourself
>>
Batman of Murder

He doesn't use guns because muh ded parents but he has no problem torturing or maiming people because he's really actually a grimderp sociopath that isn't much better than the "villains" he's fighting against.

Might as well just do a Punisher/Batman hybrid because that seems to be the way they are going with BvS
>>
>>78783822
A decent Bat family and some detective action.

An adaptation of strange apparitions. Please no under the hood. Red hood is a shitty and edgy character and already has a movie.

Morrison's first half would be great. A Build up to the black glove throughout all three movies, introducing them at the end, with a psychological thriller showing Bruce on drugs. Wouldn't mind court of owls as the stand in for black glove. Since, Joker will be inevitable, limit his appearances and don't have him as the main villain.

I'm glad if it's this way. Cape movies rarely go into the later years of a superhero where he is familiar with most of his villains. It's also a good way to bring court of owls or black glove where he is not expecting something new.

I wonder if a psychological horror movie in the same vein as the Arkham Asylum comic and game would work.

A veteran Batman has faced every physical challenge there is, but a challenge to his psyche? It would at least shake things up from the generic action movies he's been in the past few years.

Might also be a good way for each of his major rogues to get some screen time
>>
>>78802694
I would second this. We need a personal Batman story. The past movies have been Scott Snyder-esque big events. This would be a great change.
