Not him but the original marvel run is great, an awesome mix of realistic paramilitary action and completely over-the-top sci-fi. The art is a bit dated but the writing is still solid.
It's essentially MGS but less convoluted and more fun. Check out issue 21 "Silent Interlude" it's one of the really stand out early issues.
Plus the collected editions of the original series is super easy to find and pretty cheap to boot, if you're so inclined.
