the only really serious complaints are Doom's backstory and random ass "organic" lightning powers (if they were a technology of some sort I wouldn't complain), Susas was horribly miscast

I'll provide some counterarguments too, just to prove my point. 1) It's explicitly stated that Parallax was only minorly influencing Hal, and only once he fully snapped, after the destruction of Coast City, could Parallax fully take control. Parallax mostly only justified Hal's sudden downspin to evil, which had already somewhat contradicted how Gerard Jones had had Hal react to CC'S destruction. 2) Going on about how great Kyle is, is senseless, since two of the best Kyle-centred stories (Ion, and Tomasi/Gleason GLC) were produced after Rebirth. And I've read all of Kyle's solo series, and they were nothing to write home about, with the exception of some of the Alex Nero stuff. 3) I don't no were this guy gets off saying Hal or the Corps aren't the focus. All of the other types of Lanterns are discovered through Hal's eyes, and Green Lantern Corps really just tells its own story. The only character who maybe hijacks the title is Sinestro, and he's based as hell. 4) The only bit of history Johns handwaves is Hal!Spectre (that did actually kind of piss me off). The first two arcs of his book bring back a bunch of old Green Lantern foes and make them more engaging. Still wish he had done more with those foes, but saying Johns doesn't love Hal's hsitory is retarded. 5) Sinestro not dying actually works, his spirit floating around was one of the wonkier parts of Mosaic, and him manually shutting down the GL power battery is a lot better than the original reason that "GLs can't kill Korugarians because they used to cuck the Guardians".

It is. There was a real Doom that worked on some nuclear project around WW2 (can't find him right now though) which is where they probably got the idea for his name. While searching for him I also found a computer science professor at Wright State University named Doom so that's pretty cool, too.
