It's been happening for decades. Boys have been having difficulties keeping up in schools, while girls are continually scoring higher and spreading farther in traditionally male favored subjects. More girls go to and graduate from college. Even in the lower grades they make honor roll more often. I saw this in my own time in school. there are books written trying to pose theories as to what's going on.
