Oh right, I thought you were saying these things as your own opinions at first.

Are you actually trying to find a person who legitimately thinks all 3 of these at the same time? Like /co/ is one person?

The first two were pretty good. Tobey was kind of more of a pussy than Peter should be but that's better than him being a hipster heart-throb.
>>
>>78620217
Yup we'll finally get our accurate 15 year old school drama spiderman.
It's hilarious that only Disney knows how to do comic characters right, every other company only seems to be able to take hot piping shits on comics.
>>
The first Spider-Man started this whole modern superhero craze. Without it we wouldn't have Iron Man or the Avengers or even Batman Begins. X-Men was the only successful superhero movie in the 90's and it was nowhere near as popular as Spider-Man.
>>

Comic Peter is in a weird level of attractiveness. He would basically go out of his way to look like a stereotypical dweeb before the spider bite. After that he looked a bit more casual, and started acting more confident.

You're absolutely right, actually. That big hollywood fuck, Avi Arad, basically put forth a mandate to shoehorn Venom into the third movie.

That thing was successful because most people thought it was an original story about vampires and didn't knew he was a comic book character at all, so the "ugh a super hero movie, that's for kids right?/it will suck" mindset didn't apply.

Greentexting something doesn't make it true.

The general consensus, by far, is that the first two Raimi films were great and are the best Spidey films to date. The third one sucked, but even Raimi has admitted that he fucked it up. And even then, the third movie didn't suck for the reasons you mentioned.

Shit thread, OP. If you wanted to ask /co/ their opinion on what it would take to make a good Spidey film, just ask. You don't have to go and tell lies on the internet like that
>>
>>78619695
This. Honestly I think the best Spider-Man movie was one of Raimi's, and the second-best was one of Webb's.
Both directed their respective entries just fine - it's the writing of certain movies that let them down.

he was a worse peter parker, but he was an infinitely better spiderman. also he had web blasters like he was supposed to.

if it weren't for retreading his origin story, but with a shitty villain and literally doing the same mistake that 3 did (too many villains with no time to focus on each of them) I think people would've found him to be the definitive spidey.

now whether or not we'd be getting more movies with him is another story altogether. i heard he pissed off sony executives by not showing up to a dinner where they'd be announcing new movies for him.

All those things are very Spidey though, not necessarily everyone's favorite version.

I like camp/cheese but I don't particularly like wimpy, at least not as wimpy as Maguire. Fuck he has such a punchable face, and I'm still mad Topher Grace wasn't Pete in the Raimi movies, he would have been a much better fit for the campy faux-60s style they went with, perfect Spidey voice too.

Garflied has a punchable face aswell and contrary to many people I didn't enjoy his quips. They were trying to be cool and failed instead of satisfying themselves of being cheesy. I'm not sure how much of that is on the writing and how much of that is on his voice, that I find annoying. All in all I couzldn't give a shit about whatever happened to him.

MCU we'll see. People complain for a variety of reasons outside of whatever the portrayal itself may end up being (Spidey overshadowing lesser known characters and stealing screentime, yet another reboot, companywar faggotry).

All in all I'll never be satisfied because Topher Grace will never play Spider-Man.
>>
>>78619660
But most of the Raimi cast was great, it's just that those that were bad choices (Peter, MJ, Eddie, arguably Harry) get a lot of screentime.

Some (the Osborns, Aunt May and Uncle Ben, JJJ, Doc Ock) embraced the cheesiness just fine, but Maguire and Dunst sucked at it. And I'm sure Maguire was trying too, he's just not that good at it.
>>
Webb only good when it comes to chemistry between two leads, especially on romance, and he nailed Spider-man's personality. But he's shit on directing action scenes
>>
>>78632965
And that's another reason Topher Grace would have been a great Spidey, he makes bad jokes endearing. He's had years of playing a character whose whole schtick was "I'm a nerd who makes lame jokes, but aren't I cute" and selling it.
>>
>>78632965
>The car thief scene is painful to watch because of him.

Uh, that scene was everything Spider-Man is...in the Raimi movies he never not once delivers a line that belittles or makes fun of the opponent

>>
>>78633064
>Uh, that scene was everything Spider-Man is
In theory yeah, but it was executed extremely poorly. I'm not enough of a cinema expert to understand why, but I didn't like it. These types of scenes in this movie make me want to punch Spidey in the mouth, and I'm not a Spider-Man villain so there's got to be something wrong here. Spider-Man being a dick is usually endearing to me, here it isn't, and I don't know why.

True, but Scorpion did it first and it would make sense to have him rather than venom in the first movies. Literally created to be the bigger, badder, arachnid themed dude. Beat the shit out of Peter and started robbing banks (using his greater powers irresponsibly).

Yeah, but Scorpion is just another bank robber. His character is kind of one note, and he's always been a B-lister. Venom's connection to Spider-man is much more personal and works better as the evil counterpart.

6 SPIDER-MAN FILMS

>replace Venom with Scorpion, add Vulture arc like planned, pls no that awful New Goblin suit but instead just Garry trying out to ride that glider and failling hard
>Spider-Man 4 is all about Spidey making a fabric black suit, happy life with MJ, main villian is Hobgoblin, film is very grimdark yet has lot of colors and feels like 80s sometimes
>Spider-Man 5 is all about dat Mysterio epic everyone long awaited, plus Ben Reily (three Spideys, classic "who is who" situation) and Jackal who acts almost off-screen
>and finally Spider-Man 6 where our hero mutates into a Man-Spider, full Kraven arc, also Shocker cameo where he just robs shit and gets away with it

What? Are you seriously calling Spideys lines in ASM cheesey in comparison to Raimi's trilogy? You're OUT OF YOUR MIND

>>78633516
That's one good line in three movies...

>>78633684
Venom should not be used in the first movie, hell he shouldn't be used for many movies in...but let's HOPE now that MCU has interesting villains to work with they don't make them throw aways, even with c listers like Scorpion who could be really cool if done right.

But who are we kidding, that won't happen
>>
>>78633954
ASM's lines are too cringey
>>
>>78619585
SM 1 was the best one to me. It kept the general tone of a Spider-Man comic in its prime, and felt like genuine love went into the movie.

Sam 2 was fantastic, and though Doc Ock wasn't exactly himself, he felt like a really good amalgamation of Peter's rogues, making him really memorable. Fantastic fights, though Spidey not one shotting Otto was weird to me. Also MJ is a bit cunty. Still, there was a lot of heart and effort in the film, and it hits every note it aims for in spades. Overall one of the best superhero movies.

SM 3 isn't awful, just really disappointing. Sandman's connection to Peter was infuriating, and Venom was lazy. MJ went full bitch. James Franco did great, but his costume was shit tier. Thomas Hayden Church was perfect casting, but Marko was wasted completely. It felt like a good movie was trying to break free, but couldn't due to executive meddling.

ASM was literally SM 1, but far more soulless and calculated. It did nothing original, and took the endearing aspects of SM 1 and made it milk toast. This Peter was way more unlikable, and in general his switch to heroism felt like the plot demanded it. The villain was GG again, but with far less charisma or memorable lines. It just felt like a combination of laziness and pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I have not seen ASM 2, and I don't plan on doing it. It just sounds like a disaster, and the first one was awful imo.

I think that if Sony/Marvel is going to do more Peter, keep him animated only for a while (which we know they aren't). The movies have hardly tapped into all of the solo stories you can tell, and they need to go that route and stop retreading old ground. I love the Goblins, but let's see some Mysterio, Scorpion, Crime Master, Vulture, Black Tarantula, Kraven, Hammerhead, Molten Man, Shocker, Silvermane, Beetle, and all the other cool villains that haven't been touched.

>>

>You will never get a big budget rooftop fight between Spider-Man and Scorpion beating each other senseless.

Fuck Millar and fuck Slott. There was 0 reasoning to make Scorpion a low level villain. He literally spent 20 years being a major threat. Even Hammer had to send an army of supervillains against Mac.
>>

You really can't say which or how, you just can't or you don't know the definition of cringe

>>78634042
>ASM was literally SM 1,
No, ASM2 was closer to it if anything
>but far more soulless and calculated.
In both cases, no...
>It did nothing original, and took the endearing aspects of SM 1 and made it milk toast.
Uh it did a lot original, which I might add wasn't exactly a good thing...one of the major problems with the ASM movies was making the plot way too convoluted when it doesn't need to
>This Peter was way more unlikable
No, he was better. Peter is supposed to be a dick, if you don't get that you don't know Spider-Man

When it comes down to it, Spider-Man 1-2 felt decently planned out, 3 felt like it was a bit rushed but even still just to round things out lets say 1-3.

That is literally all it has going for it, Parker didn't seem like Parker, Spider-Man didn't seem like Spider-Man, the dialogue was awful, the action scenes were beyond awful, the villains were cartoon characters

Now...as for ASM, these two films were horribly put together...they crammed way too much shit in that never needed to be there and in doing such they ended up not being that good of movies...but even so, they got things the former didn't....Spider-Man finally felt like Spider-Man, the romance and character interaction (mostly) was believable, and the action scenes and movements of Spider-Man mirrored those we see in the comic books.
>>
>>78634042
>It did nothing original

Right, and when it tried to be original it felt more like an awkward attempt at distancing itself from Raimi's movies and other adaptations, prime example being uncle Ben dying in front of a random grocery store because Peter wanted chocolate milk and the thief clumsily dropped his gun
>>
>>78634091

Can Scorpion jump? How high? Too me he seems kinda limited to be a threat to Spidey. How agile is his tail? Or himself?

That Smythe's costume was menacing, but in his original he doesn't seem that much. And I don't mean just looks.

The first 2 Raimi Spider-Man movies were okay.
The Webb Spider-Man movies were okay.

I'm getting sick of seeing spider-origins, and chumpy amateur spidey.

Hopeful for the MCU take; I like Spidey as an avenger.

I'd love a Spidey movie that follows a good plot from the comics, and include any backstory as a short exposition at the beginning.

Really though; standalone Spidey makes for better TV than movies. I could go for MCU Spidey like they've done with Jessica Jones and Daredevil.
>>
>>78619585
Look, all I want is to open the movie with Spidey on the run with his suit torn to hell and his shit clearly pushed in by some unseen mystery villain still in hot pursuit, then flashback to the generic eye rolling Spider-man origin story for the n-teenth time but with this weird ocassionally creepy vouyeristic camerawork and then as we jump between flashback and Spidey on the run it goes all Memento until it becomes clear that the person watching Spider-man wasn't just the camera guy but an actual character and it was Spider-man and then we see Spider-man catch up with Spider-man and get into a fight just before Spider-man shows up to stop them. Then we get one last flashback tying everything together where Spider-man was really Kain and Spider-man was Peter but Spider-man was Ben Rilely. and then we start a whole Scarlet Spider series and don't fucking touch Spider-man again in film for like 10 years. That's all I want.

Peter as a character is a paradox. He is simultaneously an awkward geeky teenager with pimples and premature ejaculation, as he is a cool and good looking Chad with the entire Marvel female cast lusting for his dick.

So it's only natural that some fans sees him as the geek, while other sees him as the Chad. And I seriously doubt you can make both fan bases happy with a film that's ~2 hours long.
