Will there ever be another animated universe as well written, well composed, well animated and as well scored as the DCAU? Will it go down in history as the single greatest animated universe?
>>
>>78614633
Probably not. Too much time and effort nowadays. The DCAU was guaranteed whole seasons right off the jump which is why they made such well crafted stories.
>>
Marvels attempt with ultimate spider man and shit was just fucking laughable. I think DC is going to try again after batman v superman:electric Boogaloo is released because we know there's supposed to be a justice League cartoon in development
>>
>>78614855
Its like ttg don't expect much
>>
>>78614633
I love how it gave up different takes on the characters that were not complete affronts to the originals. Like Aquaman being pure Atlantean but still caring about human life.

Dat Question arc.

Question/Huntress $ Arrow/Canary brawl

Uhh Purple socks

Not even if Luthor was the Government?

Aglets

Car vs Parademons
>>
Action cartoons like this are dead, sadly. They are more likely to make lolsorandom universes happen because and they think children are stupid.
>>
>>78615248
And they are so cheap
>>
>>78614633
Wht John Stewart and hawkwoman?
>>
Yea they are making a new one actually. Who knows if it will be good though.
>>
>>78615205
What about dat GL/Manhunter arc.

>We misjudged you John we never should have doubted no. No you shouldn't have.

I love that he didn't just forgive the other GLs, it was very realistic, after your teammates were prepared to let you be killed.
>>
>>78614901
Are we certain of this? Ive heard nothing about Justice League Action since it was announced.
>>
I've never actually watched DCAU.
Do I need to watch it in order, starting with Batman AS or can I just jump straight to the series I want to watch?
>>
>>78615365
Or Aquaman cutting off his own fucking arm to save his kid. Jesus this show is so damn metal.
>>
>>78615454
I'm rewatching and I did Superman TAS S1, Batman S1, Superman S2, Batman S2, then JL S1, then finished off Batman and Superman, then the rest of JL and then JLU.
>>
>>78615248
>because and they think children are stupid.
they aren't wrong
>>
>>78615403

I think Kevin Conroy posted a bunch of stuff to his Twitter weeks ago.
>>
>>78615463
People generally consider the brave andt he bold aquaman to be the best incarnation of aquaman but I much preferred the DCAU's version much more. He was just this awesome barbarian king, I really dug that.

>Will there ever be another animated universe as well written, well composed, well animated and as well scored as the DCAU?
No.
>>
I just hope that if they try again, they step up their GL game. First they take worst Lantern, and then as icing on the shit cake, they ship him with Hawkgirl. Still love the CAU tho.
>>
>>78615593
I prefer the compassionate barbarian king as well, I'm hoping the Aquaman movie captures that well.
>>
>>78615205
Orange socks.
>>
Marvel was getting close with S1 of Earth's Mightiest Hero's. Then they let that fucking idiot start calling the shot and he destroyed it to make way for the Assemble universe. Its such a shame. It could have been the cartoon to take down JLU too.
>>
>>78615715
But his son is dead.
>>
>>78615715

Season 1 was so good.

Season 2 was watchable, but it just wasn't the same.

And then they cancelled it so they could pander to movie casuals A-FUCKING-GAIN.
>>
>>78614633
I think we might have had a chance at getting another DCAU with Young Justice but we all know how that went.
>>
>>78615715
I liked EMH but I don't think so man. It just lacked the heart and moments like >>78615463
>>78615365
That really made the DCAU.
>>
>>78615741

Fuck his son. I'd gladly videotape me digging up his son's grave and shitting over his corpse.

Oh yeah. The YJ canon encompasses the show, all 25 issues of the tie-in comic, and the video game.

Could've been more, but alas.
>>
>>78614633
>well written
almost certainly no. it was an anomaly even in its time
>well composed
eh most things are better composed now, they have a solid plan from the execs. 'give us this' they say, and you get it. However that composition is never very long anymore. The last LONG well-composed thing we had was, oddly enough, the lilo and stitch franchise.
>well animated
well yeah dude.. it wasnt the best. it was just cheap by action show standards so it got to do a few things others couldnt. but not many.
>well scored
absolutely never again. orchestrated music for animation is a dinosaur that died with shirley walker, and it's sad. As a kid I didn't give three shits about it, in fact I kinda didn't like it. Now I miss it so.
>>
>>78617782
>Wonder Woman went to live in the Justice Lord universe and porked Lord Batman

Are we counting those bullshit comics as canon? No one from the DCAU wrote them, so I won't.
>>
>>78615571
Whatever you give them, however you treat them, that is how they will be.
we had actual fathers who raised us to be tough, gave us responsibilities, and treated us like adults. if we fucked up, we got an adult's correction, not a child's scolding. We were told why there were consequences for actions and why no amount of 'I want' would let us avoid them
>>
>>78615463
Superman had some pretty dark moments too, like the cop who figures out his identity just as he dies in the gas chamber, and Dan Turpin's death. Not to mention Superman being cool with Brainiac destroying Apokolips.
>>
>>78615593
he's a funny sitcom character. he's not a superhero
by all means write funny superhero sitcoms (i miss action league now, freakazoid, earthworm jim, and justice friends). just give us good action shows too. we shouldn't have to be desperate and longing for those... We were longing for them for decades before BTAS and we're longing for them again.. it's wrong dammit. ninja turtles should not be this embarrassing joke.
>>
>>78617850
btw when i say cheap i mean the designs. timm's streamlined simplified designs meant they could do more shit with the animation instead of just recycling footage because your kickass overdetailed 80s action figure designs were too complex to draw over and over

This is obviously the most well written a consistent animated universe. There are literally no flaws at all. Just try and name one

protip:

>>
>>78617922
>Superman being cool with Brainiac destroying Apokolips
To be fair, that went south pretty fucking fast
>>
>>78618063
AT fag please leave. No one cares about your decently written children's show. Also it doesn't qualify as an animated universe. It's one show.

>>78617850
It's awesome cause for some episodes they adapted comic arcs so accurate and closely that they would actually credit the comic writer for that arc. ONeil was credited quite a few times in BTAS.
>>
>>78618209
ONeil wrote some episodes on TAS
>>
>>78618280

>>
>>78617782
Isnt the point of the end of epilogue that shit has been pretty terrible but things are actually really hopeful, and Terry is like super positive and ready to break the cycle and shit?

Ive been watching jlu recently and I didnt realize how dark the whole show is. The myth arc of the first season is pretty intense. Also, general Eiling is a fucking asshole.

That's because the rest of the JL told him to get over it and help save Apokolips. Would love to see what Superman said to them when it turned out to be a trap. Looking at how things turned out with Apokolips it would've been better to let the planet be destroyed desu
>>
>>78619531
>Would love to see what Superman said to them
You know something, Bruce? You're not always right.
>>
>>78618580
I thought the point of Epilogue was that Batman was the Most Important superhero despite what a shitty person DCAU Bruce turned out to be

what about the TMBLRAU
>>
I've never watched any of Bruce Timm's shows. Where do I start?
>>
>>78622448
BTAS S1-2, STAS S1-2, JL, Rest of STAS, rest of BTAS, S2 JL and then JLU.

All on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
>>
>>78615365
Which one was that, I can't remember? Oh wait nvmd, it was the one where he was framed with destroying a planet. Right?
>>
>>78622525
That plot falls apart really fast. No one thought to look for survivors or try and make contact?
>>
>>78617802
>Scooby Doo/Young Justice crossover

Were we going to see Hanna Barbera versions of the team? Or YJ versions of Mystery Inc?
>>
I miss Young Justice that shit was my jam. Alternatively EMH on the Marvel spectrum

>We will never know what Lex and Darkseid did with The War World

>>

Dude the Manhunters probably killed them all.
>>
>>78626666
>Lex

That was Savage, anon. Lex was too happy to just stay on Earth and piss off Superman by running for political office.
>>
>>78615454

I don't think Batman the animated series really had much to with building the DCAU. Superman TAS is what started bringing in other DC heroes.
>>
>>78626872
Yeah the STAS themes definitely carry over more with all the "how much is too much power" shit.
>>
>>78626930

It was pretty amazing to think how some things had repercussions later like Superman being mind controlled by Darkseid leading into Hamilton helping Cadmus and stuff.
>>
>>78626872
You have to see Batman and Supermans first interaction and some Batman people do cameo in JL.
>>
>>78626666
YJ is YA tumblr tier fanfic. Glad its gone.
>>
>>78617782
>>Wonder Woman went to live in the Justice Lord universe and porked Lord Batman
Source?
Also yeah kinda fucks with you especially all the shit happening to Bruce. robin getting tortured to all hell by joker and losing his mind everyone else leaving Bruce most of them really overreacted to him being a asshole, his crusade as batman accomplishing shit with future gothams still a shithole and bassicly everyone involved in the near family got screwed over
>>
>>78627219
It's the closest to JLU anyone's gotten. I'd argue it's equal at times.
>>
>>78614633

Young Justice was better, let's not even kid ourselves

DCAU fags love to circlejerk within their own threads
>>
>>78622489
Why would you watch Justice league before finishing both batman and superman? Also you left out batman beyond and the optional shows like Static shock.
>>
>>78627602

No

Beware the Batman actually did some decent world building at times. A shame they couldn't get a chance to expand on that.

>>78627723
Justice League Action might save us.
>>
>>78627652
Cause both Bruce and Clark are younger in JL and Bruce's personality changes drastically.

>>
>>78614855
Tome, Marvel's actual attempt at matching the DCAU was Avengers EMH, they only cancelled it because they wanted to start over with something closer to the movies. Which was retarded.
>>
>>78615454
>>78626872
Yeah, I've only see like three episods of BTAS because my library has a crappy old 3 episode DVDs from the '90s. The last year of S-TAS plays into stuff that happens in JL so I would start there and definitely watch JL and JLU in order. Netflix has them, that's how I saw it.

>>78615593
B-BATB was a fun show and he (and Green Arrow) were great for that, really pretty much everyone on there was brought on for comedy. My favorite all time Batman moment is from the Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle where the weird tiny space people think Bats is Jaime's side kick. I'd love to make "why does he not bow" into a ring tone.
>>
>>78619798
Timm had a major boner for Batman to the point of it affecting writing/quality. When they started doing the movies, they would streamline the graphic novels/TPBs to make him more important (The adaptation of the Grant Morrison Crime Syndicate or the adaptation of Public Enemies where they totally dumped all of Captain Atom to give that 'save-the-planet' role to Bruce).
>>
>>78622489
Amazon might have them but BTAS and STAS are not on Netflix. And haven't been on them in a good year or two if they ever were. JL left for a bit and came back. So you gotta watch that as well as far as recommending it to folks for DCAU stuff. They should really start carrying the movies instead of some of the other crap they have.
>>
>>78627302
Bats Beyond comics, not DCAU.
>>
Is the animated Flashpoint movie any good?
>>
>>78614633
I'm sad that there will never be another DC animated universe like it.

The current movies that DC has been popping out have been dreadful or mediocre at best.
>>
In the episode where they become kids, Diana says it was "fun to be a kid again," but weren't the amazons created from statues?

I'm not very familiar with comics so I wasn't sure if there was something to get.
