RUSSOS LITERALLY SAVED MCU

I feel like Marvel is gonna dry their well soon

People have to be getting burnt out on the sheer volume of super hero movies. I know I am.
>>
>>78607691
Sweet.
>>
>>78607741
That, and I feel that Marvel will use up all of its popular brands too fast.

Nigger they literally beat the most iconic superhero using a bunch of Z listers nobody outside comic fans knew
>>
>>78607691
This is going to be awesome
>>
>>78607741
Don't watch them then faggot. There are other movies besides comic book movies coming out this year.

Bub, MCU and Marvel both are on their peaks now... Based Russos are just doing the gods work to take it a step ahead.

Good, then we can get a Thunderbolts movie.
Or maybe even the GLA.
>>
>>78608880
/co/ is of the impression that AoU was somehow a failure.

It was a shit movie sure, but it still made a ton of money. Marvel doesn't need "saving" after it, the casual audience still views MCU in a very positive light.
>>

Because they can't see that Avengers 2 was a shitty movie and that Ant-Man was just okay at best.

>>

Age of Ultron pulled in $200mil less domestically than Avengers. Ant Man had the third lowest gross of any Marvel movie. Both are successful, but it's a downward trend in 2016. People are getting tired of the same people and Marvel after, what? Eight years and twelve movies? That's a long fucking time for the same old same old. Especially with new franchises that have either arrived (Star Wars) or are coming (DCEU, Harry Potter spinoff, etc.). I can't speak for everyone, but I'm just tired and burnt out on the MCU.

What do you call losing a third of your domestic gross and your third worst performing movie? Businessmen don't settle for "good enough" and "it still made a lot of money." Companies freak out at negative trends and hate leaving money on the table. It was enough of a clusterfuck that Disney tore the studio part out of Marvel and into Disney proper.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 did well and made $700mil, more than half the movies MCU took in. But it's considered a failure because Amazing Spider-Man 1 pulled in $750mil and it should have made more.

Suddenly making less, especially on your flagship is the deathkneel for franchises. It means people are starting to engage less in the product and profits will inevitably fall after. Civil War is basically an Avengers movie now since DC's getting into the game in full force. They really need it to pull more than Age of Ultron. God knows what would happen if Infinity War drew less than the first Avengers.

Come on, man. There are only 2 reasons anyone wants to see SS and 1 reason anyone wants to see BvS. Unless DC has done a serious rework, MoS has ruined any chance of a DC movieverse ever being good.

Also, AoU was only really shit because they had to nerf Ultron so much. The quipping was a little annoying, but Ultron is Tony's opposite.

>Superhero fatigue isn't a real thing

Look at this graph.
There is a clear decline in domestic box office numbers, people aren't watching these movies anymore.

The very FIRST iron man movie still made more than every single movie in phase 2 bar Avengers 2 and IM 3. What does that say about the state of the MCU?

>>
>>78609466
Studios have trashed or rebooted franchises for less:

Domestic Returns
Spider-Man $262mil
Spider-Man 2 $374mil
Spider-Man 3 $337mil

AoU lost $200mil from Avengers. $200mil, one third. Those are crazy numbers to lose. It wasn't surprising to hear there was a lot of behind the scenes turmoil around the summer when Ant-Man was pulling in lower numbers.

No he wasn't.

For example, my country, being known for hating America throughout its history, made a fucking movie about him in 70s.

In 90's and 2000's, the time which mainstream comic books went popular in my country, people fucking hated him because of policies USA had around the time. Leftists used him as a mock-icon. Actual comic readers defended him as ''It is what American people are supposed to be. Stop hating on something because it has American Flag on it!!!!''.

http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/1996/1996-09.html

Just look at his sales starting from 96. It has ups and downs but he sold pretty fucking good back then. You're delusional.

Marvel will not go down because AoU pulled less than expected. Antman exceeded their expectations though, as evidenced by their announcement of a sequel.

No it didn't

They were always going to make a sequel because they found a safe formula that prints them money. So they think that anything they make them them rich. Even if it's bad.

Quality helps movies, but it's very overrated. If quality mattered, Oscar worthy movies wouldn't be bombing left and right.
MoS made $700mil, which is really good for a first try. BvS and the DCEU in general has a ton of hype and will do very well. Not believing that is just straight hugbox safe space mentality.

http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%2Fm%2F0wrshm2%2C%20%2Fm%2F0125zrjx&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT%2B8

Marvel has to hit big and hit now. They can't go into Infinity War limping. And it's going to be harder now than ever due to increased competition.
>>
>>78609683
MoS still made more than all phase 1 MCU movies except for Avengers and still made more than Thor 2.
>MoS ruined everything :(((
I disliked the movie too but overall the reception was divided.

BvS is going to be a success either way and SS got a positive reception from Comic-Con.
>>
>>78610149
Because casuals think that Thunderbolts is a rip off a suicide squad, meaning that the only villains that can be used for the team are ones captured. Not many know that Thunderbolts were actually villains, posing as heroes, scamming the common people. I just want Moonstone in a movie, that's all.

Feel free to stay ignorant of how the world works, man. Marvel Studios are going to go through big changes, and soon. That Iron Man is their most popular single hero.

Even the ones low on the totem pole like Thor and Ant-Man still make money. They just don't make Avengers or Iron Man money. Which is fine, not everything needs to, though it feels they're going to try and make it that way by stacking more heroes into the movies (Hulk in Thor, everyone in Cap 3).
>>
>>78612208
>They just don't make Avengers or Iron Man money. Which is fine
Try to convince Disney about it and I'll believe you, toy store employee.
>>
>>78612234
I don't have to, they keep making sequels to them (aside from Hulk, and Universal is a big reason for that), so obviously they're successful enough. Though they seem to be including more heroes in the solo films. Civil War practically feels like an Avengers movie from the previews, no doubt that will boost box office.
