Not that guy, but I did my Historiography thesis on Woodrow Wilson.

The man was an unrepentant anglophile who never should have been president. He dragged the United States into WW1 just to satisfy his vague sense of globalism and America's place in the world.

It was good that Congress smacked him down on the League of Nations. He was trying to turn sovereignty of the United States over to an international body.
>>
>>78601292
Why does he draw faces so weird? Itherwise I admire his talent.

Would you say that nihilism is a stepping off point for existentialism?
>>
>>78601407
I can't properly answer that one, as I've spent my entire life used to his art. I could see the potential weirdness, but I just can't register it. It's just style I guess.
>>
>>78601431
Possibly, if you take the rejection of life's meaning as an invitation to construct your own meaning. I believe our purpose is the one we make for ourselves, so I'm going to say yes.
>>
What are your views on the long term economoc viability of webcomics, having seen your father make the successful transition from traditional comics to the digital form?
>>
>>78601463
Thank you! That's a very thoughtful answer.

I have that issue of Buck Godot. I'd figure the "company vault" would've been a basement filled with crates of overstock.

Serious question: Phil and Kaja said they put Xxxenophile on hold because they're parents now, parents with little kids. You're here so you must be old enough; are your folks gonna get back into collaborating with other artists for a little slap-and-tickle? Maybe reboot Hoot island?
>>
>>78620381
/tg/ is one of my favorite boards, along with /out/, /co/, and the elder scrolls general on /vg/. In all the time I've spent there though I don't think I've seen much discussion. Probably because I don't pay much attention to magic threads.
>>
>>78620547
As much as I'd dare to dream of more xxxenophile, mom explained it in a conversation a while a go. She said it doesent make much money, it doesent make other artists view you very well (somewhat understandable in these modern times, where most drawn porn is made by ameteurs online) and it draws weird problems your way.

The example she gave for that last one was complaints that xxxenophile didn't have very much gay stuff, but had the strip where a woman fucks a dog. His disparity drew complaints, and the reveal was there wasn't much gay stuff as dad just didn't find it as hot and therefor didn't draw as much of it.
I wish more was a possibility, but with those issues and the fact that dad already works very hard on the current crop of material, it is unlikely.
Rip in peace fantastical sexytimes.

>>78620716
Yeah i can see that. Too many people have pretty extreme emotions about what's "okay" and what's "not okay," and if the author does a "not okay" thing in one issue, that's an entire month of people who feel they gotta make a lot of noise proving how righteous they are about the "not okay" thing before the next issue with their "okay" thing arrives.

Whether it's clothes on or clothes off, the important bit is having fun. And your folks seem to be having fun, with stuff like getting awards and doing the radio-plays at cons, and y'know, having a self-published work that can help pay the rent. I'm happy for them.

Someday, I'll get the chance to meet Phil & Kaja in person, and say thank you for What's New, for Buck Godot, for the illustrated Mythadventures, for Xxxenophile, for Stanley & His Monster, for Angel & the Ape, for Girl Genius.

Not the Magic cards tho -- I mean, everybody's gotta do gigs sometimes just to get paid, I don't begrudge them or anything.

I thought it was sweet when Phil published a bit saying Dixie from "What's New" was his dream girl, and one day he met his dream girl and they got married. Corny as shit, but still sweet.

Oh good, you can get past the panda too. The scans there are from an earlier printing than the ones on the libgen ftp, but they're darker (better defined black levels). The things you learn on /a/.

The stories are comfy and charming, though I can't fap to them due to the art style. Don't tell them the latter (but he might read this anyway, hah). I like the ones with the shower ghost, the pool nymph and the witch and her familiar the best.

I'm sure Phil's already aware.

"Sparkiness" is just a euphamism for aspergers isn't it?

Yes. It's very good. It doesent phase me though. It's porn, I'm just using it for what it was made for.

I don't think dad knows what sadpanda is, but I see no reason to rat on something like that. Doesn't benefit me to do it. It's the only place I can find it besides the print copies in the vault.

I don't think so. I always saw it as a metaphor for natural born artistic talent.

Phil Foglio got a son?

I always wondered, what artists/artstyles is he the most influenced by?

I think that's a question for him. Sorry. It's a good question though.

Ah, too bad. I just always wondered since I feel a bit like >>78601407 though I don't know exactly what I find weird about it (maybe it's simply the noses?)

I never followed his work as much as other /co/mrades here in the thread do and just wondered, if he ever showed a particular influence in his work.

His faces look perfectly normal if you've read stuff outside of the standard comic spectrum. They kind of remind me of Asterix and Obelix with a mild weebanese slant.
