Season 3 is when the plot arcs get a lot better but it'ls also the most confusing one because it starts going back and forth from the timeline. Literally the first episode of that season was a backstory plot for some Clones that only appeared for one episode.

The last episode of S5 is legitimately one of the best emotional scenes of any series. The acting (both voice and animation) were standout and conveyed so much emotion.
I loved that the writers stuck to their guns and powered through all the fan hate about Ahsoka. It paid off and she went from a fan groaner to a fan favorite.
Also gorgeous animation that got better and better as time went on. Lots of little details that people can miss if not paying attention, like lighting and dust particles in the air, shit you only see in feature length animations. A testament to this is TCW consistently being placed in best animation category at the Annies and being the only TV show in the running. The rest would be Dreamworks and Pixar movies.

It elaborates on the "death of Shmi" scene in AotC (only good part of that movie besides arena tbqh) showing his transition from Anakin to Vader in a much more fluid and seamless way than RotS did. The way he lets his rage fuel him when he kills Ventress, the tragic romance with Padme, the vision quest in the cave, they're all better than "uhh lemme cut off Sam Jackson's hand cuz I'm a bad guy now lmao". Definitely better than any so-called "development" in The Clone Wars.

And by "Jar Jar is the key to all this" he means toy sales. In earlier drafts Jar Jar was a somewhat more serious character. He didn't prance around speaking gibberish, step in poopoo, or get farted on by pigcows. He quickly evolved into the merchandising messiah.
The ultimate point was to make him heavily appeal to kids so that they would not only buy any and every toy of him, but so that his face could be slapped on any piece of merchandise for a guaranteed impulse-buy. Jar Jar pillowcases, toothbrushes, shampoo bottles, pez dispensers, sneakers, hats, paper towels, spatulas, cereal boxes, coffee mugs, bicycles, lava lamps, windex, anything and everything was going to be slathered in Jar Jar's goofy mug so that kids could throw tantrums in the aisles and convince their parents to buy.

It's depressing how the prequels show more originality and thought into the background and history of star wars under George Lucas compared to TFA's bland rehash of episode 4.
George Lucas is pretty much the best ideas guy ever with the ability to flesh out and imagine a great lore behind star wars. It's just sad that he's shit at executing it and writing dialogue which is why I suppose why the OT and TCW tv show were so good was because they took his ideas and them made them tangible with great writing.

If TCW had gotten to do a full season of lead up to Order 66, I think ROTS would be mostly useless. Just imagine, one full season being full of arcs where the Jedi are sent to the planets they die on. Show their great relationship with their clones and what not. Then the two-part finale has ROTS happen and Sheev giving the order. It could even include all the extra Jedi TCW showed us and how they fare with O66 (like Vos and Shaak Ti).
