Why do all Canadian shows have that crudely drawn elementary school artstyle?
>>
>>78614631
this is something that has genuinely made me really truly sad when drunk one time. The realization that my childhood is really truly dead and I`ll never experience it again. Man, it fucked up drunk me pretty bad. Apparently I watched YTV shower bumpers for like two hours and gave long indept analysis of each one that night according to a friend.

I remember the one with the roofers. They wanted the dad to forsake his plumber ways and start working on roofs with them. He had a natural talent because he could comfortably walk on a 45% angle (old country was apparently very hilly)

CanCon, it's a law that a certain percent of whatever a Canadian television broadcasts has to be Canadian in origin. Shows that are entirely produced within Canada earn extra points that can be used to air more American content and basically Canadian television stations are intentionally producing cheap shit so that they can air an extra episode of Adventure Time or whatever.
>>
Anyone remember the year or years when YTV aired a big new years countdown of all their shows?
>>
Does anyone recall when they did the thing with weird bugs invading the Zone and you would see them crawling across the screen during some shows?

I think this was right around the time where they picked up either Carlos or Sugar.

Also does anyone else remember a random cohost thing that was just a hand. Like it was just coming out of a hole, and would hold stuff or point to stuff. I`m not 100% sure about this one, I might be going crazy.

Hard to imagine that the same people who did Cosmic Christmas and The Racoons also got hired to make Heavy Metal, then came home to make Rock & Rule.

That was a little after my time. I do remember a lot of weird shit went down right before the Grogs showed up, and during when they did a hostile takeover.

I remember this having a crossover with Totally Spies

Did the show had a proper ending?

I remember them airing two or three new episodes of Beasties on NYE once. It was the start of Season 2 where the transmetals and fuzors showed up. I faked being sick so my parents would let me stay home instead of dragging me to a party.

I was sure that the episode where Inferno shows up was during some special thing because I remember we had to record it and some other stuff that was running late but the damn tape ran out halfway through the episode.

Not really, at the end of the season 2 finale MOM basically shut down The Centre and Martin gave up his UWatch. It left on a cliffhanger, but none of this was even acknowledged in season 3.

The season 3 finale is also pretty lackluster compared to season 2's

The saddest part of me was realizing I had spent so much of my childhood devoted to this one network that I felt an emotional connection to it. I'm in a single parent family so I guess it was easier for my mother to park me in front of the TV.

I tried rewatching this and the animation really, really shows it's age and how shitty it is. I really loved this show as a kid it felt like an underdog Canadian comedy

Jesus fucking christ I forgot about this show. I'd say it definitely helped push me into vidya as a youngin'.

This entire thread is giving me the best kind of nostalgia trip while also realizing how sad these channels (including their american counterparts) are for show variety and quality... Goddamn.

Also, anyone remember this gem?

If I knew how to rip them I would have done it.

Maybe someone with a Rogers box can confirm

I remembered whenever it was a PD day, or a snow day, or if I was sick I stayed home alone since both my parents worked. Those were the best days, the first thing that was always on would be Rupert on YTV at 9am. I would just watch cartoons for the whole day while playing with Lego.

to be completely honest, I always thought that Vortex was the weakest of YTV's blocks. I always spent my Saturday mornings watching FoxKids
>>
>>78624592
I watched a lot of it mainly because (I think) of how rural my upbringing was. I lived in a town of about 300 people with an average age of over 65. There were 4 people my age in the town and we honestly did not have much in common and they lived on the complete other side of the town. So I was kind of left to my own devices. I watched a lot of TV to fill the hours and eventually moved onto the internet when we got it when I was 11 or so.

Looking back I realized that youth in my town basically had to make a choice at some point. Either go super hard into the hunting/fishing outdoors scene or go online for socialization. I went online, my brother went full huntsman.
