They think it's taking too much focus. I mean, it's true that whenever there's a focus on Regular Show, it's usually Mordecai and Rigby's love life, not for example, actually getting somewhere with their life. Then again, Rigby currently has an on going plot of trying to get his HS diploma, but again he started that doing it for Eileen more or less.
But even if it takes photos, the episodes that don't can still be entertaining. But the general plot construction of those is formulaic and mostly the same, so they won't be talked about.

They don't actually go anywhere or reveal anything about the characters. The relationships are just a lazy vehicle for cliche riddled plots that the writers use so they don't have to come up with anything that could potentially original, interesting or funny.
The relationship episodes are always phoned in garbage.

Personally, it just got stale. I understand that every show has it's own formula but Regular Show was one so ingrained in its formula that I honestly believe that once you've seen one episode you've seen every episode. Same with Phineas and Ferb.

Honestly I love romance in my cartoons, I'm big on shipping and I enjoy seeing relationships evolve... but regular show took it too far in the wrong direction. Also, Regular Show was way better when it was positioned as a show for teenagers, with all the mild swearing and minor innuendo. Then CN pussed out and censored the first season.

It was a great show that naturally played itself out around its first season, since the material is inherently reliant on a number of gimmicks, though there's nothing wrong with this. The first few episodes are rightly some of the greatest in American cartoon history.
