There are plenty of examples of shows going to shit after a long run but they still keep going because of the money or people simply not being able to let go.
My question: Are there any examples of shows becoming shit but then recovering? Is that even possible? Could a show like Simpsons or Adventure Time theoretically become good again?

Well Adventure time only had a few shit episodes in season 5 and has recovered well since, but to be honest, having a few shit episodes doesn't really qualify as turning to shit.

There were weaker seasons, but none were really terrible.
SpongeBob is actually improved this latest season, but it's still pretty bad by the original standards.

>The Simpsons
>Adventure Time
That is a horrible fucking comparison. Plz go

Why? I'm not commparing them to eachother

No, it's not. Both ran too long until a lot of big fans turned away.
AT probably was not as bad as Simpsons at their worst, but the continuous decline in quality and the huge difference between their best times and now is undeniable.

I like season 7 better than 6. I could watch another 2 or 3 seasons 2bh.

The Simpsons HAS recovered, depending on who you ask. Either the teen seasons were the worst or the early 20's. A large chunk of people who have watched everything seem to like the HD seasons more than 16 to 20

I never followed AT real closely after the first few seasons, but I remember reading here a while back that the big problem was that one of the writers introduced Flame Princess and had a really clear idea of what the character was supposed to do, but then she left to make her on show (SU, if I recall) and nobody knew what to do with her character now that she was gone
