There are a million villains who spout "I have the potential to rule the world if i weren't set on evil" But i feel bane really could be more. When Bane was evil he didn't care about money or material possessions he only wants to dominate the world to show that he is the strongest man out there, that's why he focused on Batman, then when he broke him he realized that that goal is kinda shit. I think that's sort of the thing with Bane, ever since him proving he can beat Batman at his own game, he's been trying to figure out what the hell he should do with his life now. Material wealth has no interest for him, he has no need for any sort of crime empire, he can seize all the power he needs as he needs it, and he's already proven himself.
Bane works best as a sort of unpredictable, rogue agent. You never know when he's going to show up, or who's side he'll be on, but he'll be a game changer regardless.

I would like to see a Bane-Riddler team up. They are both smart and want to prove to be better than Batman, so this alliance isn't too farfetched.
The story would start as a normal Riddler arc, but at some point Batman ends up in a warehouse without any light where he hears Eddie's voice making a riddle that has "Bane" as solution. As soon as Batman realizes what is happening, he get hit by Bane and is injured, but still has to fight him while Riddler continues to make riddles and will kill some hostages if Batman can't answer within a limited time.
What do you think? Could it work?

They already"teamed up" in his second/third appearance. Bane slapped Riddler around, gave him a huge dose of Venom to pump him up, then set him loose on Batman to see how Batman would deal with a Venom roided up super smarty.
Its also why Riddler was MIA from Knightfall.
