So, I love IDW because it's probably the version of the Turtles with the most development and depth, currently, but keep in mind this is a video game and none of that shit actually matters. Not gonna lie, it always kind of bugs me when the turtles can magically fight the Foot Ninja without killing anyone. One thing I absolutely loved about the old Mirage comics is that the turtles very rarely killed, but when it came to the Foot, shit was always for keeps. The Foot were just too skilled to hold back on.
That said, the IDW comic does the whole turtles not killing thing about as well as you hope. The IDW comic doesn't shy away from violence or death when the plot calls for it so the book doesn't feel toothless or censored, more like the turtles refusing to kill is a deliberate creative decision.

That's the reason why Turtles Forever could not use the original 80s actors and had to use soundalikes. It wasn't a matter of cost, but because the 80s actors were all union members and were thereby forbidden from working on productions with non-union VAs.
Some of the non-union VAs from the 2003 cartoon have since joined the union (Leo and Nobody's actors, I think), but most of the cast has not.
So we'll never be able to get a full cast team-up between the 80s and 2003 shows.
Canada also has it's OWN voice actor union and they suffer the same problem (Scott McNeil was only able to appear in Full metal Alchemist, a non-union production, by going uncredited and paid under the table).
