I've heard a lot of noise on /co/ about how comics play it too "safe" with non-white characters and their cultural roots, resulting in blandly inoffensive comics. Have any of you checked out the webcomic "Vibe", then? Young black kid uses Haitian voodoo power-ups to fight evil spirits. Just started it, and I was wondering whether it was up /co/'s alley?
Vibe is great, story just got bananas.
the non-white characters make sense because of the story and I'm pretty sure the author is black, but if he isn't he did a great job handling it.

VIbe's pacing is too fast and it updates too slow. I'm really 'meh' about it

Love the cover art. Feels like weird mythological Ben 10, of African Diaspora Shaman King or something.

Not gotten very far into it, myself, so the update rate hasn't become an issue. What am I in for?

Love the coloring and the art. But I'm not really interested in shonen fighting webcomics.

Fair enough, really. Very heavily anime influenced. just got to the bit where the voodoo spirits start envying Tetsuo's cape. This art, though! I'm getting into the story now, but the art alone could sell me.

>Very heavily anime influenced.
Of course it is

I mean, I just started it, but it IS increasingly apparent. That's okay, I'm a weeb, too.

>just started
You're in for a wild ride.

I remember when this started but nobody's talking about it so I forgot it existed
I'll pick it back up

I'm a seen too but whenever I see anything 'inspired by anime', I fins it awful

This one's pretty legit so far. I mean, it uses a lot of shounen tropes and design choices, but the story is a lot more based in voodoo than in ripping off Japanese shit.
