http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/cbrs-top-100-comics-of-2015-100-76

>2015 was another banner year for the Top 100, with more than 40 contributors to the list and more than 200 comics nominated. That's resulted in a typically diverse field: superhero franchises sharing space with creator-owned works; major publishers alongside indie favorites. Of course, no list can be an exhaustive collection of every noteworthy piece of work in a year, but the end result of the CBR Top 100 is a wide selection of eclectic comics and graphic novels worthy of attention.

100. Superman: American Alien
099. Elfquest: The Final Quest
098. Howard The Duck
097. Ant-Man/Ant-Man: Last Days/Astonishing Ant-Man
096. Melody: Story of a Nude Dancer
095. A Silent Voice
094. Dungeon Fun
093. Sex
092. The Dark Knight III: Master Race
091. Batman '66
090. Groot
089. James Bond
088. Berlin
087. DC Comics: Bombshells
086. Shutter
085. Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye
084. Ragnarok
083. The Sandman: Overture
082. Invisible Republic
081. Kaijumax
080. Nimona
079. The Autumnlands
078. The Legend of Wonder Woman
077. Heart in a Box
076. Princess Ugg

#75-51 tomorrow at noon PST.
Thoughts, /co/? What do you think will be in the top ten? The fact that Squirrel Girl is not in the bottom 25 does not give me much hope for the rest of the list.
>>
How the dickens is American Alien on there? It got on there with only two issues out?
>>
>>78498246
Last year Edge of Spiderverse #2 made it on there I think.

Literally just that one issue.
>>
>>78498222
>yet another thread bitching about other websites
Can you do us all a favor and kill yourself? See, the vast majority do not really care to participate in some stupid Internet drama, and you clearly lack anything else in your life you deem as being worth living for. So it really would be better for everyone if you were to just just end it all right now. Bye.
>>
>>78498246
Multiversity was on the list and it wasn't finished yet.
I guess the criteria is if its first issue was released this year.

>>78498280
Yeah, they made a point to specify that single issue, which was weird.

>>78498307
>Can you do us all a favor and kill yourself?
Not yet. I wanna see how it ends.
>>
>>78498307
This, I'm tired of these threads. Who gives a shit what the mongoloids at CBR think?

NOPE
>>
> top 100

I'm not even sure I could find 25 comics this year that I liked
>>
>>78499283
Not really.

>>78499306
If I did I wouldn't be complaining about it, you brainless imbecile.
>>
>>78500288
You need to read more comics then. Lots of good shit came out this year.
>>
Who wants to bet Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is in the top 20?
>>
>>78500358

What if they praise the art for it?
>>
>>78500406
Obviously going to happen.
>>
>>78500358
>Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is in the top 20
as if!

it'll be in the top 5
>>
>>78500338
I read plenty from just about any publisher
>>
>>78498246
If you are not an autist who gets angry they got it "wrong", but a normal person that reads these lists are recommendation lists, it makes perfect sense to include things with just one issue out.
>>
>>78500538
>it makes perfect sense to include things with just one issue out.
It just seems weird to have BEST OF THE YEAR!!! lists that include books with one or two issues out that came out in like November

I suppose it makes sense if you look at them as big rec lists though
>>
>>78500614
Well when you have to pick 100 of something you're going to scrap the bottom of the barrel a little.

im fully expecting it to be in the top 10 because CBR columnist are the worst of shills when it comes to the sjw craze.

>mfw lumberjanes got #6 last year and saga ranked higher than multiversity

>Squirrel Girl will outrank it
this is why comics are dying
>>

What is it with Saga and everybody sucking its dick everywhere but /co/?

Like, seriously, when was the last time we had a Saga thread here on /co/? And yet it's a critical darling everywhere else on the Internet.
>>
>>78500685
We had plenty of people in the last storytime.
>>
>>78500683
Art aside, Overture was definitely inferior to the original series.
>>
>>78500685
>when was the last time we had a Saga thread here on /co/?
Around when the first two trades were out it was popular here. I mean I was really loving Saga for the first 6 issues, but the more I read the less I liked it
>>
>>78500708
Oh.
Well, my bad then. I never see any general discussion threads during the week, nor do I ever see any storytimes on Wednesdays. I guess it's all just me, then.

First year since the reboot that the main Wonder Woman title won't get in

At least there's Legend of Wonder Woman and probably WW '77 and Sensation Comics too
>>
>>78500683
Squirrel Girl will outrank everything you love
>>
>>78500685
honestly i read the first three arcs of Saga and enjoyed it, but it is vastly too much in love with itself. The art is great and I enjoy the characters, but I wouldn't call it the most groundbreaking comic ever or even among my favorite stuff out of BvK. It makes a whole universe for itself but doesn't do much of any real worldbuilding aside from the characters mentioning things every so often about their culture that no one could guess.

I mean there was literally a two-page spread in a recent issue of a dragon sucking its own giant dick and they tried to make it sound completely natural and part of their special world. They're running out of ideas I think.
>>
>>78500738
Inferior to the original series, sure. But still one of the top comics to come out in the last year or so.
>>
>>78500786
>They're running out of ideas I think.
didn't BKV say Saga was going to be longer than Y and Ex Machina combined
>>
>>78500685
I love Saga, but I don't bother making threads about it here because it'll just make all the people that scream "tumblr" at anything popular get all butthurt.

Plus, there's not much to talk about when with The Will benched.

yeah i agree but still, squirrel girl will beat a fucking neil gaiman comic in a "best of" list.
>>
>>78500811
If you don't like Squirrel Girl maybe you're the one who's wrong! :^)
>>
>>78500829
please go kate leth
>>
>>78500801
Probably
>>
>>78500811
It'll beat a fucking JH WILLIAMS drawn book. Fuck, if Sandman Overture is this low on the list, then Mike Del Mundo's work in Weirdworld is going to be overlooked completely.
>>
>>78500811
Being a famous and talented writer does not mean you are incapable of making a bad comic. Though I have no doubt that he put out something 100% superior to Squirrel Girl. Hell most of Marvels shitty lineup was better than Squirrel Girl. Even something like Ms. Marvel, who should be popular with the same demographic, is going to lose to that abomination.
>>
In other Best Of news:

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/top-10-comics-2015-851021
>What follows is a Best Of that's more of a recommended reading list; there are many, many titles that could have been included — Image Comics' Saga and Southern Bastards, or Marvel's Ms. Marvel, for example, all of which remain as strong as ever — and others that came so close to making the grade that it feels cruel not to mention them (DC's Convergence: Shazam, which offered a pitch- perfect take on all-ages derring-do adventure comics that should be studied by anyone wanting to make superhero comics, say). It's been a good year for comics, but these titles are the cream of the crop.

In no specific order:
>The Wicked + The Divine
>Giant Days/Bad Machinery
>The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
>The Omega Men
>Zero
>The Multiversity
>Nimona
>Drawn & Quarterly: 25 Years of Contemporary Cartooning, Comics and Graphic Novels
>Judge Dredd: Enceladus
>Loki: Agent of Asgard
>>
>>78501236
at least they got two good things on there
>>
>>78501236
>Omega Men

Glad to see that getting some more attention.

Just think of all the horrible comics CBR thinks are better than Invisible Republic and Autumnlands.
>>
>>78501236
CBR's top ten will look pretty much like this except plus Sex Criminals, Saga and Lumberjanes.
>>
>>78501236
>— and others that came so close to making the grade that it feels cruel not to mention them (DC's Convergence: Shazam, which offered a pitch- perfect take on all-ages derring-do adventure comics that should be studied by anyone wanting to make superhero comics, say)

Well, at least they acknowledged it.
>>
>>78501249
I count 4.5, at least. 2 I haven't read/heard about as well.
>>
>>78500685
There's been a lot more conversation about Saga here lately ever since it got really horrible.
>>
> DKIII right under '66
BWAHAHAHA
>>
>>78498222
I doubt very much Lose #7 or Dressing by Michael Deforge will be in the top 10, top 20, even, but if they're not I won't shittify myself.
CBR can be really good (occasionally) on obscure Big Two trivia and such. But their tastes are pretty much set in stone. And that's okay.
>>
>>78504889
An issue of Lose made the top 40 a couple years back. They have a pretty good mix of comics in their year-end lists which is weird considering how shitty and tunnel visioned the rest of their coverage is.
>>
>>78505091
Yes, I know it did. And you're right, it is strange, their coverage is so genre-biased the rest of the time. In fact it wouldn't be unfair to say it's the /co/ of comics websites. Didn't they have Optic Nerve in there last year? I think maybe they did. Anyway, I can't get mad about 'em, or any comics website. I just rarely visit there.
>>
>>78505292
It's too bad there isn't a site that has news for a wide variety of comics. It's either 90% capes and 10% licensed comics, (or more accurately, 40% comics and 60% movies and tv) or the other extreme of nothing but Fantagraphics-esque stuff.
>>
>>78498222
>Dark Knight III
Isn't that only two issues in? Also, for a list that's probably going to be composed primarily of big two comics, 100 is too big of a number.
>>
>>78506441
Not even half of the 25 here are from the Big Two
>>
>>78506441
Last year only like a quarter of the list was big two and Image had the most comics there, this year will probably be the same.
>>
>>78506545
Thank God
Things are getting better
>>
>>78506441
>>78506545
as it gets higher up, you'll see far more capeshit.

that said CBR will probably put a couple indie titles in the top 10 like last year.
