When Aaron McGruder left there was no balance to the series. Rodney Barnes was allowed to take the show away from being silly but having a message/point to it all to just being shitty black humor.
The characters stop being themselves at that point. Riley was straight up cursing in front of Robert which would never happen in the older seasons.

The comic strip was great. Wasn't a huge fan of how the cartoon was in comparison.
Still, S1 was funny and wasn't too stupid. It became dumber and dumber as seasons went on.
