Cap used the shield to block Thor's blow. In AoU Thor even bats the shield into a group of enemies. It's all a matter of dispersion of force.

No, his shield doesn't "absorb all energy". As the other anon pointed out, it disperses energy in nonconventional ways. You can tell that it doesnt absorb all energy because it makes noises (and also you can move it, and it isn't supercold/superheated).
Since it's dispersing rather than absorbing, it must therefore follow that someone familiar with it would be able to use it to protect themselves, but it must also follow that the wielder cannot always perfectly protect themselves.
I'd like to say it's like you haven't finished highschool, but the plain fact here is that even a highschooler has seen enough movies to know what's what. It's like you haven't finished kindergarten.

2. With Batroc, he wasn't trying to end a fight defensively - he was trying to WIN a fight through combat - so Steve's footwork always needed to be one step ahead of Mr Ze Leaper. When Batroc presses his attack, Steve moves with it to get into position for a counter.
3. Adamantium is fictitious and has no scientifically sound properties so don't expect it to be consistent with the physics of our world.

The shield is an adamantium-vibranium alloy (that has never been duplicated). Adamantium has been used for other things (like Wolverine's indestructible skeleton), as has Vibranium. There may even be other adamantium-vibranium alloys in Marvel canon, they just don't use the same (lost) formula as the one used to make Cap's shield.

Cap's shield works as a solid non-newtonian fluid. It has a threshold in which it becomes unbreakable, but softer pushes can still move it around and throw cap off-balance. Like corn-starch in water.
