No film in history has been this overrated

>There was a UK countdown on channel 4 I think on the top 20 christmas films of all time last week, This fucking film was in the top 5, beating out gremlins, home alone and miracle on 34th st.

>On SKY1, on christmas day there was a whole 2 hour program dedicated to frozen as a christamas film.
>>
>>78469824
And?
>>
>>78469837
Not OP but Frozen isn't a Christmas film. It takes place in the summer. The presence of a life threatening blizzard doesn't change that. The Day After Tomorrow features a ton of snow too.
>>
>>78469934
thats my point disney are trying their best to make frozen the biggest christmas film ever.
>>
>>78469824
> This much bait...
>>
>>78470573

how is it bait? most people agree with it.
>>
>>78469824
I still haven't seen this film.
>>
>>78469824
This is one of Disney's worst, why this when there's Wreck it Ralph? Wreck it Ralph was good at most but it's the best CGI Disney film and the best in the past ten years excluding Pixar and other.

I wasn't angry, but now I am.

I like Home Alone and while it at least occurred during Christmas, its not an especially Christmas-centric film. Same with Die Hard. I'm not calling an 80s action film a Christmas film because it happened to take place during December.

Christmas movies are *about* Christmas. Not when they incidentally include Christmas references in the story. A Christmas Story is about Christmas, Gremlins is not.
>>
>>78471134
Nigga, what? Home Alone 1 and 2 had a lot of Christmas themes. I haven't watched those two in ages, but I remember elements like being kind and generous--even just during the holidays--to people who seem hostile at first, "it's better to give than to receive" shit, and a lot of things about holiday family love.

A Christmas movie doesn't have to be blatantly about Christmas and Christmas characters, for me anyway. If it has the Christmas holiday in it and themes that people go through during the holiday, that makes it a Christmas movie for me. Snow is a bonus.

With that said, Frozen is definitely not a Christmas movie.
>>
I really don't give a shit about Frozen itself as a film, but some of the more extreme hate from grown-ass adults is kind of dumb.

Not in this thread (yet), but when people type several-thousand-word essays about how much it sucks, for example. Just seems like a lot of wasted effort if even thinking about the film gets people as mad as they say.

Also, yeah, not a Christmas movie, but they could be using "Christmas" to mean "winter-related." Calling it a "summer" film would also seem dumb so I kinda get what they're going for even if it's not accurate.
>>
>>78471252

Its a Home Invasion movie. That takes place at Christmas. Watch it again and pay attention more to the story and less to the trappings.

Its loosely a Christmas movie. If you set your bar to this height, so be it. I'm not going to call Gremlins of Die Hard (which I adore both) Christmas movies. "ho ho ho" on a sweater, a gremlin hiding in a christmas tree, don't make the cut.

Frozen has nothing to do with Christmas but is likely being pushed for its winter themes.
>>
>>78469824
It beat Home Alone? Well that's not just acceptable. I enjoyed THE CREDITS of Home Alone more than Frozen.

You are right OP. Frozen is overrated. It's also not a Christmas film. Fuck, what is wrong with this world?

popular =/= overrated

Seriously. I don't think any critics effused over Frozen being an unparalleled cinematic masterpiece. Everything I've seen just called it a massive hit or a blockbuster, which is true, and which doesn't say anything of the quality of the film per se, just that it raked in the dough. Which it did.

Frozen has its flaws but it touched the feels of the masses and is insanely popular, why does that rustle your jimmies? Just let people like what they like ffs. There are worse popular films, like Avatar or Minions

>MFW this, Big Hero 6 and other overrated as fuck recent movies are getting in Kingdom Hearts 3 before longer anticipated worlds based on much better movies.
>MFW most of the world production budget will be placed into them.
>>
Watched the movie once last year, and there's one part that confused the fuck outta me. Hoping someone explain this to me.

That scene in the beginning, with the Do You Wanna Build A Snoman song, was Elsa just locked in her room for an entire decade or something?
>>
>>78472819
Yup. She became a recluse ala Batman in Dark Knight Returns.
>>
>>78472430
Wasn't Frozen to not getting a world in KH3?
>>
OP, you're thinking about this all wrong

No one thinks Frozen is great cinema

It just made a billion dollars. It is an incredible commercial success, and that is why it is everywhere, and why people who do not actually care about the movie itself will not stop talking about it.

There is always this aspect of horse racing, to all things. There are people who are actually interested in things, and then there are the people who get interested once something becomes successful enough. People who think that a something can't be the "greatest" of it's category unless it's also the most successful. People whose favorite movies are directed by James Cameron, whose favorite music is the Beatles, and whose favorite video games are either Call of Duty or Clash of clans.

They're interested in money and things that make money. And once something makes enough money, it starts to have a reality-altering power that makes people think it's good because it's successful, and not because of any of the merits of the actual product.

And Frozen makes a lot of fucking money.

What's /co/'s opinion on Trading Places? Here in my country it aired EVERY. FUCKING. CHRISTMAS till a few years ago. And I watched it. And I liked it.

She must have occasionally very briefly ventured outside, but yes, she spent years 8 - 21 of her life mainly locked within her room.
>>
>>78472979
then what about those two programs OP mentioned, is diseny bribing them?
>>

I don't know why but it pisses me off so much in a kids movie that parents are that shitty.

Well but the parents in Frozen aren't the worst Disney parents, they did try, and did love both daughters, they're just a bit clueless and overwhelmed by fear

>>78474728
No, not yet in that pic, they die when Elsa's 18

It's funny that it took this long for films to start bumping it, but now they're coming in spades.
>>
Home Alone is not a good movie

Frozen wasn't a masterpiece or anything and rewatching it isn't very rewarding (Tangled is easily more rewatchable), but Let it Go was a good song, the plot was ok, the animation was pretty and the sisters were hot

>>78474884
Am I the only one to find it funny that the creator of that image used Thor to represent a successful film without intentional irony?

And yes, one more bump is about to happen in probably in a couple of weeks at the fastest, you know which flick's doing that.

And before you ask, yes, I'm getting something ready for when that happens as well.

it was a 4/10 film at best.

There was a Tron Legacy world in 3D. I'd think you'd have given up on them making the smart choice.
>>
Is it okay if i liked Frozen and think it was a decent movie.

Or do i have to hate it 100% to seem cool now.
>>
>>78476370
If you have to ask the question, you're already a faggot.
>>
>>78476431
Okay.
>>
>>78476342

At least the original Tron was used in 2 so might have as well get Legacy out of the way before 3.

Really wish Pocahontas was in 3D also just to get it out of the way seeing it's probably being shoved into 3 due to being the only Disney 90s renaissance film that hasn't gotten a world yet.
