It's pretty great. I gave up on Star Wars EU shit, like, sometime during the whole Yuzhung vangy crap over a decade ago. But I'm enjoying some of the new Star Wars marvel comics.

Every cartoon, book and comic is vetted and examined by some Star Wars Disney committee before it's allowed to be created or be released to the public.

He didn't, but he could. The 'Before the Awakening' book explicitly mentions Poe's relationship with his parents and where he grew up, so the tie-in material is at least canon to itself.
References to it may still be made in Eps 8/9, because when JJ wrote the script for 7, the tie-ins were yet to be written. They were written after the script was complete.

Well yeah, he has 6 life action movies to trace from. Especially with all the copy paste whenever multiple fighters/capital ships are in a panel. Hell, I have the suspicion he just reuses old panels whenever appropriate. I'm fucking certain I've seen one particular close up of Vader at least 3 times.
