>Hydrogen either doesn't exist or these people have smart AI with 16th century chemistry
>Both scenarios are incredibly daft
>Dust loses it's powers away from Remnant but apparently other forms of fuel and energy like hydrogen for propulsion and solar for electricity are non-existent, literally everything is dependent on dust
You guys cannot be serious. Ever heard the saying "necessity is the mother of invention"? This is a post apocalyptic setting where people literally just made a continental radio system.

The only reason humanity survived the Grimm was because of dust, an extremely powerful and seemingly abundant source of fuel. They had no reason to research other fuels, and most likely had nowhere to start if they're still trying to figure out what aura or dust is even made of. You can be advanced in one area (robotics, communication, etc) while being completely clueless in another, especially if you have such a small population.

Also,
>dust loses its power when it leaves the atmoshpere
Dust fucking confirmed for shards of the moon.
>>
https://www.tsumino.com/Book/Info/5936/1/pig
Here's the Link doujin, for all those who wanted to read it.
>>
>>78452397
I agree, if dust is really THAT abundant and fills all of their needs, they have no reason to step outside that box, they will just continue to refine their knowledge of it. if, for some reason, dust becomes more scarce or less useful, then you'd see people exploring alternative technologies.
>>
>>78452397

Why don't they just take a big chunk of land attach some satellites and some big ass Dust rockets and launch it into space
>>
>>78452503
heart of gaia or some shit probably, or else they could just bring some dirt with them.
>>
>>78452397
Just made a continental radio system? It sounds like science has been around for a while in Remnant

>can make advance robots with realistic AI and potential robotic prosthetics
>don't know literal grade school chemistry needed in order to get to those points
>>
>>78452503
How would that help at all? Dust loses its power when it leaves Remnant, the rock would just come crashing down once it gets too high.
>>
>>78452458

>Ganon with the corkscrew pig cock.

Goddamn it.
>>
>>78452550
probably because they use dust, not chemistry. because dust isn't an element or made of any either :^)

>>78452554
I think he was suggesting that bringing part of remnant with you would make it work.
>>
>>78452355
>The real reason Pyrrha will never be more than Jaune's partner.
>>
>>78452550
The radio system was developed by Atlas after the color war as a gift to the world.

Perhaps they have no concept of real chemistry? Like I said, it's very believable to have large advancements in one area and not the other.
>>
>>78452601

In theory anyways
>>
>>78452601
That still is the shittiest excuse of all time.

>so how did these people make all those advance circuits and electronics in Penny?
>lol dust
>>
>>78452631
Yeah but without the very basics of chemistry? I'm calling bullshit, considering the modern world they live in
>>
>>78452601
>I think he was suggesting that bringing part of remnant with you would make it work.
That's silly. My guess is it's not Remnant itself that gives them their properties, but the actual planet/atmosphere. Maybe Grimm give dust its power? We just don't know.
>>
So guys I was just watching the rwby opening for volume 3 and does anyone find it interesting that at the 54/55 second mark that the two people that lead the charge against the grim is ruby and jaune.
Just asking if anyone got any theories about that, also here's a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18lGsn4TCaQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18lGsn4TCaQ
>>
>>78452635
sure, but these WoRs seem to raise more questions and inconsistencies than they seem to resolve. if they're not going to properly flesh out the worldbuilding, I think it would be more pragmatic to just ignore those aspects entirely.

>>78452663
well they probably know how circuitry works, it's just that the electricity is produced and harnessed by dust rather than knowledge of conventional hard sciences. they may not necessarily even know what electrical energy "is", only how to use it and how to design things to make it work with that.
>>
>>78452663
It's really not. Dust is the very foundation of Remnant, it's not outlandish to think they used electricity dust to power circuits and shit. Penny's soul is what gives her thought and intelligence, and Atlas has been researching aura, dust, and souls for years.
>>
>>78452603
>Every time Jaune sees NPR he breaks out in a cold sweat.
>Is counting down the days until he can leave for Atlas.
>>
>>78452759
they're the leaders of their respective teams, it's not that complicated.

>>78452710
well of course it's silly but the whole idea is silly to begin with. for what reason would any remnant denizens need to even focus on space exploration in the first place? their ideas of science are totally foreign to us, and likely a lot more focused on terrestrial affairs.
>>
>>78452759
>does anyone find it interesting that at the 54/55 second mark that the two people that lead the charge against the grim is ruby and jaune.
They are the leaders of the 2 main teams of the show, what else do you need ?
>>
>>78452776
>>78452804
Energy source aside, you still need to know how electricity reacts on substrates like computer processors which are semiconductors

Unless you mean to tell me that they somehow get by without those
>>
>>78452852
And that necessitates spacefaring rockets?
>>
>>78452804
that episode made me think

>we've been studying aura for years and practicing how to put it in something else
>non-living things and grimm don't have souls/aura, only real living creatures

so maybe Penny's aura/soul came from ripping something out of a different person and stuffing it into a robot, she just isn't aware

inb4 eventual plot twist where Penny becomes a "real girl"
>>
>>78452837
>>78452849
Ok I guess I just didn't see the obvious, thanks.
>>
>>78452806
>NPR don't remember their bully days
>Don't know that everytime they touch him he has Vietnam style flashbacks to wedgies past.
>Pyrrha's attempts to increase their intimacy continually backfire.
>>
>>78452879
The couldn't get to space because dust doesn't work
They can get to space if they had a very basic knowledge of chemistry, which they should given all the stuff we've seen in Remnant, to use hydrogen to get them to space
>>
>>78452852
Who knows. You people put way too much thought into fantasy shit and then call it bad because of it. Hundreds upon hundreds of other series do this exact thing and no one complains.
>>
>>78452852
>Unless you mean to tell me that they somehow get by without those
no, but rather that every kind of substance or function they could ever need is met by dust and some application of it. not all of it is necessarily used as energy propellant, but all sort of other shit too. I wouldn't doubt that you could refine dust to be used in semiconductor manufacture. it's bullshit, but it doesn't exceed the bullshit ceiling we're already operating under.
>>
>>78452934
I'm sure you're not suggesting the only knowledge you need to get to space is that hydrogen burns well.
>>
>>78452934
And sin e they couldn't get I to space they don't have a more reliable satellite system in place of a shitty tower system where if one tower fails so do the rest

>>78452960
It reacts violently, all you have to do is force the energy out in one direction and you have thrust
>>
>>78453018
Wonder why it took so long then.
>>
>>78452852
>we have high knowledge about electricity, computer engineering, chemistry, etc
We still can't make powerful and reliable AI like them

>we have high knowledge about biology
We have no idea how life works (i mean how can a pile of different basic elements move and think by itself

It's just a goddamn show in another universe. They set up whatever rules they want.
>>
Couldn't they just use an in-atmosphere satellite?
>>
>>78453062
We don't actually know how far from Remnat Dust goes before losing power.
>>
A more rational explanation would be they can't use satellites because there's too much debris from the shattered moon

This dust nonsense is getting out of hand
>>
>>78453062
would probably not be stable enough if it's within reach of anywhere the grimm can get to, same reason they don't have radio towers spread out everywhere. the only places they can put large-scale technological developments in the lithosphere is either inside the protected areas of the cities, or if they have it mounted onto and guarded by a military fleet. just leaving it unprotected inside the atmosphere is too risky, I would think. just having a station set up somewhere with military manning it would be inefficient too, since it spreads their forces thinner than they could be.
>>
>>78452631
>>78452397
They don't even need chemistry per se, and necessity is not always the mother of invention. Chinese alchemists stumbled on gunpowder completely by accident, with no chemical knowledge whatsoever. They just put commonly available things in a bowl, mixed them up, and found that it ignites at very slight provocation.

>>78453062

Honestly my only complaint is the fact that all towers go offline when one does. Everything else can be explained with this being a fantasy world, but I just don't get this one. What could even be the reason? I think it would have been better if Cinder worked with 4 other evil teams to take them all out at the same time (if taking out the tower is her plan)

The year is 2077

Dust, as our ancestors knew it, is running out. Decades of decadence and fighting the Grimm to extinction have all but exhausted each nation's stockpiles. Vacuo, in some twist of fate, found an effective stopgap in burning fossil fuels. Atlas has successfully retolled it's entire infastructure to run on brand new fission technology. Mistral, in a brave attempt at playing catchup, is utilising both technologies but finding further rescources scarce.

The fatalism in the hearts of humans has manifested in a new generation of grimm. But even the resurgence of an ancient enemy pales to the threat of Global annihlation at human hands. Mistral Dust Bombs, Vacuo's bio tech, and the Nukes of Atlas have given humanity the ability to wipe itself out many times over.

Technology adapts
The years pass by
But War Never Changes....

It's not like it's gonna make their melee aspects weaker. But I can see how that would be a problem in a world where most weapons are guns. However, Ruby's gonna pull some JRPG bullshit, borrow the combined strength of everyone's aura, and dunk on Cinder.
>>
>>78453612
Well, we know nothing about that dead maiden. Maybe she was just a normal human.

Cinder on the other hand, we already have an idea of her power (keeping up with Glynda "Illouminati's guardian" Goodwitch). Add legendary OP powers to that, and i'm not sure anyone can beat her except Neo because Neo is best motherfucking girl.
>>

even the melee weaponry is dust-powered I thought though? I remember hearing that yang's gauntlets require dust both to punch hard AND to shoot (or both at once), it's just that her semblance lets her hit even harder.

he was referring to Cinder as the "she" for "the things she's made". when he said "the infiltrator is not just another pawn" he meant it's not just any average infiltrator like mercury or emerald, but the actual boss of the pawns instead. "the one responsible for autumn's condition" likely means that Cinder is the one that stole some of Amber's maiden powers, which makes total sense.

maybe its like a no man's land where we'll either find remnants (get it) of an ancient and powerful civilization that was responsible for the creation of grimm. Sort of like an Atlantis kind of thing but not underwater. Or it'll be a no man's land where we'll find tribes of nomads who are hardened from all the struggles and are even more powerful than the hunter/huntresses trained from the academies

Either that or there's a technical limitation.

You're not thinking.

It only works with 4, period.

It can't work with anything less.

The 4 of them form a special power that a lesser number cannot, and they have to be placed a certain distance apart for various reasons

Or you can just settle on 4 being the magic number of the world instead of 7. (Four Maidens)

Yes, Qrow sent a message to Oz about how the queen has pawns, but that just strengthens my case. Qrow mentions says "they're the one responsible for Autumns condition" and then later says "I've seen the things she's created". Qrow knows who the queen is, but he has no idea about Cinder.

Neo is the actual leader of the bad guys, trying to shut down the towers because they interfere with some kind of signal that would lead her directly to the 5th continent, where her father stayed to defend it during the color war.

Captcha Coffee, so confirmed by Ozpin himself
>>

>But they do fight each other.
Tournament fights are not fighting.

I don't mean that in the sense that the people involved are not fighting but that the emotions that it envokes are rarely the same as what occurs when killing happens.

it just means that she knows ABOUT cinder, it doesn't mean he knows who she is in beacon, which is why when mercury told her about qrow arriving she told him not to worry because they don't know who they are.

as in, qrow and co. are aware that some people are conspiring against them and some specific things they are responsible for, they just haven't uncovered their identity yet. that's why team CMEN is allowed to be at beacon undercover, except for Neo who has to keep her disguise up since team RWBY saw her true identity already.

>>

Qrow clearly differentiates the infiltrator and the queen in episode 3. If he got information from someone about the infiltrator, he would have obviously known if that infiltrator was the queen or not. I can guarantee you that Cinder is not the main bad guy.
