Does anyone remember 2006-08 Scooby Doo?
>>
>see Shaggy's face in the first panel

Goddammit...

Weird how Scooby Doo wasn't any good for 40 years and lived.

Does that mean we have to wait another 40 years for new 2 seasons of decent cartoon?
>>
>>78342927
I think everyone forgets that Scooby Doo was never good.

Literally the only reason it still exists is because people use television to babysit their kids and they can at least recognize the show in question.
>>
>>78342927

Shaggy and Scooby Doo get a clue was utter shit.

See that's the kind of shit that Hanna-Barbera made a ton of, why did Scooby Doo stick in the public consciousness more than their other shows?

>>
>>78343225
>Be Cool have the worst designs.

>>
>>78343243
13 ghosts was easily one of the better Scooby shows though. And yes, even though it had the unholy union of both Scrappy and Flim-flam in one show (which was more than balanced out by Vincent Price playing Doctor Strange in the show).
>>
>>78343037
Because of faggot parents who kept asking "What ever happened to Scooby Doo?"

The formula was repeated many times but Scooby Doo was the first and people stick to what is familiar no matter how crappy it actually is (see: Simpsons).

On a sidenote, I was thinking of Scooby Doo clones and remembered the groovies from CN a long time ago.

you missed 13 Ghosts of Scooby doo and the Scrappy doo show.
>>
I remember the first Scooby doo movie on CN where the monsters were real like zombie island or something, my cousins and I were EXCITED AS SHIT for it and we loved it. We were "playing" Scooby doo after and everything. We were super young. I remember our parents getting insanely pissed because we were literally screaming at the top of our lungs about it. I have no idea why we liked it so much.
>>
>>78342873

Get a Clue is so irrelevant that they couldn't be bothered to play it on Boomerang.

>>78343082

Barring 13 Ghosts of Nostalgia Goggles, the character designs for all of the shows in that period were the same.

Scooby-Doo Movies only had slight design tweaks from Where are You! but a ton of the stuff that people associate with the series (DON KNOTTS/JONATHAN WINTERS/RANDOM CELEBRITY) came from it.

>>
>>78343398
Fuck you.
>>
>>78343037
It had fairly grounded and had something resembling a plot. It helped that the awful cartoons of the era made it look like Courage the Cowardly Dog by comparison.
>>
>>78342985
The original wasn't, though I have some nostalgic fondness for it and some of the movies. It never got decent until a Pup Named Scooby Doo, which many will argue against, then it hit the big time when Cartoon Network plugged the shit out of it and was making stuff like the Scooby Doo Project and it got the Zombie Island movie, which is when legitimately good stuff came out.

What's New was blah, Mystery Inc was GOAT, Be Cool is entertaining.
>>
>>78343730
>Mystery Inc was less blah
ftfy
>>
>>78343753
Aside from the romance shit in the first half of season 1, it may be my favorite cartoon in the past 5 years, if only for taking a franchise I had a lot of fondness for, and making a 52 episode arc based show that managed to be creepy and funny. I get a lot of the arguments for making the characters less likable or playing up their stereotypes to an annoying degree, like Velma's temper or Fred's trap obsessions, but I still liked it. I also get people that think it went overly dark in the end too, but I loved that it went kinda lovecraftian.

And Mystery Solvers Club State Finals is my favorite episode of Scooby Doo to ever be made.

>>
>>78343949
Out of the many things wrong with the 2002 movie, Lillard was definitely not one of them. He is the perfect live-action Shaggy, and it's great that he's voicing him now
>>
>>78342873
Why do they never have a series with Scooby's sister Ruby with the team? They tried everything else, put a damn furry waifu on there as Velma's sidekick and see if it helps.

Another question: Canonically, isn't Shaggy rich? Is he bankrolling these wacky, pro-bono crime-solving adventures? Nobody in the group has a damn job.
>>
>>78343522
>I remember our parents getting insanely pissed because we were literally screaming at the top of our lungs about it. I have no idea why we liked it so much.

Sounds like autism.
>>
>>78345255
>Is he bankrolling these wacky, pro-bono crime-solving adventures?
As of Be Cool, Shaggy is a drummer who believed the gang was a band
>>
>>78343730
>It never got decent until a Pup Named Scooby Doo, which many will argue against

If Pup can claim anything, it's that it gave personalities and back stories to the non Shaggy and Scooby characters; enough to keep them in the mix afterward.

It established Daphne as being super rich
It established Fred as an excitable knucklehead
It established Daphe as, uh, well nothing substantial about her, no

The characterizations it established are still in use today, even if other ideas have been supplanted (Coolsville replaced by Crystal Cove).
>>
>>78344954
I caught a few episodes of it recently, and a lot of the jokes were actually really good. Especially the physical humor from the two evil henchmen.

Coolsville will make a comeback
>>
>>78345456
>The characterizations it established are still in use today

Didn't Pup also establish everyone's full names? Did they ever use the last names before Pup?
>>
>>78345255
Daphne is rich. I think I remember something about Shaggy's dad being a cop. Anyone remember when they would do marathons of Where Are You? on Cartoon Network and it would have "interviews" with the gang in the commercials? There might be more insight into it there, I know Daphne talked about her family a lot in them.
>>
>>78345456

You said Daphne twice, but I think I understand the jist of your statement.
>>
>>78345537
>I think I remember something about Shaggy's dad being a cop

Red Shirt Shaggy came from old money down south
>>
>>78345537

Daphne being rich and Shaggy's dad being a cop are from Pup Named Scooby.

The interstitial segments on CN marathons established Shaggy's real name as Norville, though.
>>
>>78345515
Yes. Shaggy being Norville Rogers, in particular, has seeped into nearly every incarnation of the franchise since.
>>
>>78344839
>not 1988-1991 Velma
Pleb shit.
>>
>>78345515
>Didn't Pup also establish everyone's full names? Did they ever use the last names before Pup?

I know Fred Jones and Velma Dinkley got used in that episode from the Scrappy era where Fred and Velma were reduced to rare guest cameos in the series.

Daphne Blake and Norville Rogers I think originated from Pup.
>>
>>78342927
13 Ghosts was good, Ghoul School and Boo Brothers was somewhat enjoyable. There's also the game where Shaggy and Scooby had to capture monsters with a book. And I enjoyed Shaggy and Scooby Doo get a clue.

My nigga, I just started replying that. Night of 100 Ghosts is a good game too.

>>78345875
Unmasked is worth playing too, if you happen to see it. Scooby Doo really lends itself well to games. The best part of the franchise was always the monsters, which were able to be so memorable with just twenty minutes and some scary moaning. They make wonderful enemies to go up against.
>>
>>78342873
>Does anyone remember 2006-08 Scooby Doo?

It was called Shaggy & Scooby Doo: Get A Clue. If memory serves, it was a pretty much Robotboy with a Scooby Doo skin. I mean, it has incompetant heroes that manage to bumble their way to victory over a slightly more incompetant villain, it also has a Deus Ex Machina that every villain wants to get their hands on. Some nice animation, but Fighves (The main villain) was a little too Dr Drakken Lite for my liking.
>>

>>78346024
If we're talking games, the price is way too fucking steep right now, but the Scooby stuff in Lego Dimensions is well done, the open world level for Scooby even has his parents as mission givers.
>>
>>78345056

There's that sequence where they go into the video game; each level seems to have a lot in common with the films that came after Cyber-Chase.

The Loch Ness film had extended underwater sequences, Chill Out was set in a cold climate, Frankencreepy had a fat Daphne subplot, Lunar Madness had them in space, Samurai's Ghost had a plot about Daphne having martial art skills along with a samurai ghost, Phantosaur had them being chased by a dinosaur, Goblin King had a big scene with Fred and the girls on a rollercoaster, Where's My Mummy is self-explanatory, and there was a random lion in Abracadabra-Doo.

They haven't really done anything with the gladiator sequences or the shrinking one but it's probably only a matter of time.
>>
>>78345955
I was old enough, I just lived in England. I remember seeing an advert for that thing in an old comic (Beano, Dandy or Beezer, can't remember which.) I pestered my mum for a whole damn year about going.

Never did though. I bet that'd still be fucking sweet in a decent Simulator machine.
>>

Actually, come to think of it, I guess the WWE movie is sorta like gladiators.
>>
>>78342873
2006 scooby doo aka scooby doo get a clue was complete and utter shit.
>>
>>78346177
>Never did though. I bet that'd still be fucking sweet in a decent Simulator machine.

The rides Universal replaced it with (Jimmy Neutron, now Minions) are exact duplicates so far as the motion sim goes, just with a new movie tacked on.

Skipped Jimmy Neutron, but I did Minions. Meh. Not the same with Dick Dastardly trying to kill you the whole time.
>>
>>78344954
yeah I liked it better than the normal one
>>
>>78343949
The Shaggy in the porn version was better.

Actually the porn version was perfect in every way. Shaggy was actually a stoner who got sucked off by random girls while clubbing, Velma was masturbating in the other room while thinking of him, Daphne was a dumb blonde, Fred took advantage of the fact that Daphne was a dumb blonde, it had straight scenes, a lesbian scene, an orgy scene, a hall chase scene, and best of all, Scooby did not appear.

Only the Johnny Bravo crossover was a better Scooby Doo episode, wish they made a porn parody of that. Or Johnny Bravo in general.
