It will probably be nominated, but I doubt it will win. It lacks the flash Inside Out did. This is no statement on the quality, but a tendency academy judges look for the pretty effects rather than actual storytelling.

I liked it better than Inside Out, mostly because I like westerns better. But the designs weren't great, like they tried to Cars-ify dinosaurs instead of pushing the rugged coolness of them that kids like. And the caveman may as well have been a regular dog. Would have been a better movie that way too.
But wasn't it based on a children's book or something? Those two things probably backtrack to there.
It looks fucking gorgeous and worth watching for the visuals alone. The story is kind of generic, but still manages to be emotional at times.
