Blade got taken off the schedule b/c it got hit the hardest in the wake of the "where are all your black creators?" criticism of the hip hop variants.
The Blade announcement hit that same week, so the blogosphere tore it to shreds over a black female protagonist being written by a white male
It also hurt that Ron Wimberley's rejected Blade pitch starting to gain notice, so it became double bad that Marvel "rejected a black creator for a white one"
