What are some Christmas specials that no one mentions?
>>
>>78330347
What's this one called? I haven't seen it in forever. We used to have a vhs tape of it that we'd watch when I was young.
>>

The Christmas Toy. Yet another spawn of the Jim Henson machine.

Avoid the retail and televised versions like the plague; they remove the original opening and closing sequences w/ Kermit dressed as Santa.

Claymation Christmas. The Waffles segment in particular.
>>
Red Boots for Christmas

CR hasn't even touched it.

>We used to have a vhs tape of it that we'd watch when I was young.

This is unsettling.

We had this on VHS as well.

As did three other people I've talked to in the past week.

Granted, I suppose people are more likely to bring up Christmas shows as a conversation topic this time of year, but it's still kinda unnerving...

That time Santa was raised by Pagans and had to fight creatures of the netherrealm in order to bring about the rise of Christmas.
>>
The Carol of the Bells was the best segment!

I forgot about this one. What was it called? Was it just me, or did it seem super creepy?

was there ever a 2d animated one about fictional accounts of Santa's life before he became Santa? I remember watching it when I was little on Toon Disney or something similar.

They also had Santa as a redhead when he was young, but I remember more foresty fae shit going on. I wonder why that is such a common idea for Santa to have been a redhead.
>>

I remember there being a hand drawn version as well, and after a little research I discovered the was a book by L. Frank Baum called "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus". So if both were based off the same source material, that probably explains the similarities. As for the red hair, I've seen that in a lot of the old cartoons. I guess that's just a common portrayal for the jolly old fat man as a boy.
>>
>>78332068

Yeah, there's a 2D animated adaptation of the Rankin Bass film. Same story.
>>

MOTHER. DICK.
I've been trying to remember the name of this special for fucking ever and kept getting the creators name wrong. Thank you anon.

As repayment, I'll drop a tip that there is a torrent on piratebay that has all three specials by this one studio in one pack.

People just remember Baum for Oz and only a handful of them at that; it's really a shame how neglected his other works are.
>>
>>78332462

Glad to be of help; it's one of my favorite Christmas specials and helping somebody else out because of it is a real pleasure.

It's one of those things that deserves to be enjoyed.

>Grampy: Christmas Comes but Once a Year.

I have been searching for this for years, but didn't remember the name. All I remember is my spirit being crushed when all the kids' toys broke. I don't know if my heart can take watching this again.

It's not the reason, but a good secondary explanation would be that red hair is a product of Caucasians around modern day Germany encountering and breeding with the last known group of Neanderthals on Earth as mankind migrated through Europe.

So in a way, the red hair hearkens back to a mystic (or whatever) ancestry.

It makes Santa something a touch more primeval.
>>
>>78333341
Grampy was a Betty Boop character.
Remember that Betty Boop was considered damn near pornographic when she first came out.
So Grampy's Christmas is a bit odd to be entirely without lewdness.

It'd be like taking Towlie from South Park and putting him in a genuinely heartwarming all-ages cartoon movie.
