Have there been any good ones though? Not saying OPs idea will automatically be good, just that the general problem with an overused idea is that one (or a few) adaptations are really good and it gets a lot of people who try to do the same thing but just come off as stale. I can't really think of a "good" alice in wonderland adaptation that the others have been copying, I think for the most part it's just become an easy idea in the public domain for writers to rip off.
I'd be willing to put up with (ie ignore) more shitty attempts at this story if SOMEONE eventually does something new and interesting with it.
