SaiNW is one of the best arcs in /co/ history. This is a fact.
>>
>>78309464

The new one has great animation, personality, humor, and adventure. The problem: horrible arc building with decent climaxes far far apart.
>>
>>78309399
Its tainted by Fast Forward
>>
>>78309722
Sorry, anon, but I can't agree with the personality part. I mean, It's not bad and I'm watching every episode but starting with that Mikey that doesn't make the jokes but He is the joke... well, the personalities get annoying many times.
>>
>>78309987
Agreed. Fast Forward is just terrible
>>
>>78309399
Yeah this was good. But I found the new TMNT enjoyable as well, the primary issue being... the plotting. While 2003 suffered a form of decay later on, Nick TMNT has been going on for a while. Originally I had some expectations for it, because hey, the first handful of episodes were enjoyable. But then you got things like "everyone has to be a mutant. we can't neatly tie-up the Karai plotline so let's drag it out till everyone's sick of it, and it's worthless to have any human villains aside from Shredder." Like let me ask you, what's the point of having Dogpound and Fishface as the Bebop and Rocksteady of the series if you're going to have Bebop and Rocksteady be in it anyways? Heck Dogpound's new form was threatening for one episode then all other appearances he's a fucking joke. I could also go on about how you never feel proper satisfaction when it comes to conclusions for certain characters, like for example... Mutagen Man. A character who got fucked over so bad, he went temporarily villain (which was understandable, his life fucking sucks now) and then proceeded to just be background crap.
>>
>>78309987
>>78310070
You may be right but it's like that Fast Forward decanonizes itself given the tone and sillyness of that show. For me, it's like Ultimate Spiderman is for Spectacular Spiderman
>>
>>78310175
The Spectacular Spider-Man is literally the best series.
>>
>>78310212
Yes, and Ultimate can be ignored, just like fast Forward. That's what I'm saying.
>>
>>78310235
Agreed
>>
>>78309722
great...
>humor
>adventure
Agree to disagree.
Add to the fact that the show won't let down the many many references. 2k3 series had its fair share of it, but this one definitely takes the cake.
>>78309399
I read much of the IDW comics and wow, that's like close to about the best everything (from the 80s right down to current additions/alterations). I can not only tolerate Krang, but this asshole can give Ch'rell a run for his money. The only wack arc wack was that Fugitoid one. Plus, the comic has a thing for cheesy transitions between different settings.

I made this back when I finished season 1. Then season 2 started and the whole thing seemed to become almost what I originally expected. Between the butt gun that makes farting sounds and the weird grossout humor all of a sudden plus stuff like the squirrel episode, not to mention all the cringey backpedaling they had to do to undo their success last season. Is it worth going on or does it just get worse from here?

It was kind of boring and sterile. It was able to go more serious than the other shows, but not serious enough to the point where things were really exciting or interesting for me. It felt a lot more like a watered down Mirage, where the others in their strange divergences I could accept more as being their own story. As others have said, the first film and IDW both do a much better job of taking the original Mirage comics and mixing them up for a different audience.

Also the 2003 show seriously felt like it hated itself a lot of the time, and I don't know why.
>>
>>78311997
see
>>78315142

>>78315142
Exactly. It kiddified Mirage's stuff & took out a lot of the nuances. The best part about Mirage is its subtlety & introspection, it's a very depressing but thought provoking series, a lot of that was lost in translation. The first film did right by Mirage lore, even if it did throw in a few (welcomed, IMO) cartoon nods.

As far as the show hating itself goes...
>limited budget
>no free reign due to being under Playmates & Peter Lairds respective thumbs
>everything they tried to do was shot down by one of the aforementioned thumbs or censors
>desperately clinging to traditional means of animation
>pro animators sharing duties with interns

Just some spitballing.

The Usagi episodes were based as fuck though.
>>
Also liked that it had it's own mythos and settings rather then aping 1987 constantly like 2K12
>>
>>78315674
>facebook filename
Really?
>>
>>78315674
I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. 4kids having them by the chains aside, 2k3 may not have been as subtle as Mirage but it was able to redo a lot of stories with more development and consistent weight. Mirage falters in comparison because most of the time it was direction-less, and that guest era did not help at all.
>>
>>78309399
If we are talking Cartoons then yes I would agree. If we're talking all media, then IDW's comic is the best. It incorporates everything that was good in other adaptations and rolls them into one while adding some new things. The first two movies were pretty fun as well.

eh.. technically the first movie is better.
if 2003 series had been done by someone better than 4kids, better voices, ability to have celebrity cameos, more allowance for saying 'death' and shit, then it would have been the greatest possible. as it is, it was merely the best by far, other than the first movie.
>>
>>78313965
best thing about this one, you get your pick
human shredder lived hundreds of years ago and made a deal with a demon to get amazing supernatural powers
alien shredder lived FEWER hundreds of years ago and gets to be scifi to the max
plus you got a computervirus shredder.. though nothing really came of that.
plus you had shredder's adopted daughter
plus there was THE SPLINTER in one alternate universe
>>
>>78318620
The multiple alternate Shredders was sort of a dumb recurring plotline and part of the show's downfall.

Oh, then stay away from the source material. They even killed in the Archie comics, but the victim was off-panel. All you see is the character thrusting with a weapon to some point beyond the panes, and a couple globs of red/black blood in midair. In the IDW run, Alopex killed a few people, and I'm sure Leo did his fair share.
