Post the best run on a character.
>>78283805
For purposes of the thread we'll count minis and one-shots as "runs".
>>78283842
If we're doing one-shots, then this is still my favourite Superman story
i mean, come on.
>>78283893
except Timm did that better in DCAU.
>>78283805
>>78283893
It's not a "character's best story" thread though.
But if you want to call Alan Moore's run on Superman the best on the character then that counts.
Basically the concept is "which writer's work on the character was best". Hence JMS being the best Silver Surfer "run" even though it was just 4 issues. It was still the peak though and I'd assume most of /co/ agrees.
Spencer's Avengers World for Sunspot...
>>78284240
Marco/Rucka for Punisher...
Surprisingly, Mark Millar might be the overall GOAT Superman writer.
>>78284263
God Butcher / God Bomb for Thor...
>>78283805
>>78284312
Action Comics #13 (new 52) for Super Dog...

>fixed
>>78283893
Sorry, but Loeb holds that honor.
>>78284263
Rucka is a talentless hack
Mark Millar's Superman Adventures run is the best Superman run ever written.
Geoff Johns' Action run is a close second.
Jason Aaron

Dark knight Returns revitalized Batman. Everything after has to take it into account.

>Dark knight Returns revitalized Batman. Everything after has to take it into account.
This is true.
I remember buying those books when they hit the shelf of my LCS, waaaaay back in the day.
They were so different, so much better, than anything else on the shelves, it was like they were in a league of their own.
>>78284798
This and it's not even close.
Barry Windsor-Smith is the only other person even in the same ballpark.
>>78283805
Best till E1 version comes out. Then it is ON

I'm re-reading this again and it's pretty fucking good. But 52 might still be better.

BKV had the best run on The Hood. I wish more stuff was done with him in that vein.
I really liked Carey on Constantine but if you disagree that's fine.
Daredevil is really hard. I like Bendis best but the first half of Brubaker (Devil in Cell Block D up to the Mr. Fear storyline) was unbelievably good. And of course Miller is amazing too. Waid up until whats-his-face was also great.
What was the best Spider-Man run? I haven't read too much of him (started more or less with JMS up to end of Grim Hunt, with a couple of oneshots/famous arcs in between).
So far ahead of everything else that it's still probably the greatest cape run(s) of all time.
Johns, hate him but still...
Onjectively the best Harley run

Wally/Morrison/Millar

Nah man, Nah
Sins Past was not his fault.

Came here to post this.
I don't count anything after JRJR left though.
The best Reed has ever been. Ben was pretty great too.
>>78285712
I storytimed Coming Home a few years back and everyone on /co/ fucking loved it.

I loved Azzarello's run. It gone me interested in WW and I bought Perez's omnibus to read.

Here comes a new challenger
Can somebody tell me what's the best Aquaman run? I consider myself a fan of the character, but he's not as well chronicled as most of the League.
>>78285777
Mah fellow colored comrade! One of the best FF runs
>>78287128
Peter David's run is great but most of the lore got recon out. I personally enjoyed the Sub Diego story by Will Pfeifer. You can't go wrong with Geoff Johns
now. If you want classic Aquaman then read anything drawn by Jim Aparo and written by Paul Kupperberg. There's a nice mini series that retakes Aquaman's origins by Keith Giffen called The Legend of Aquaman, it was a fun book.

How old are you?

This.Millar's Marvel Knights Spider-Man is a close second for me.
>>78284312
simonson was a lot better
>>78285777
This run was #2 for me. Hickman's is my favorite.

So, Daniel Way's Punisher/Bullseye?
>>78284240
So fucking tired of Wolverine posing holding his claws at any cost in the picture.
We get it. You're Wolverine, You got claws.
Moench's Moon Knight. All of it.
Yes, Huston's in 2006 is good, but it doesn't even come close to the original.
>>78284798
yep.
maybe for christmas someone should storytime this issue for those who haven't read it
>>78283805
>>78285302
Why do you hate Johns? He seems like a great guy.

My man. Spurrier put Legion on the map.

Whoever did NU52 booster gold.
Adventures of Superman #610, 612-623
>The Superman series where Superman didn't throw a single punch.
>Stops an incursion in literally a single issue.
>This run easily reaffirmed my faith in Superman.
Weirdly his best writer wasn't even his creator, that title goes to Christopher Yost.
>Yost created a subdued Ock that was trying his best to be an actual hero (in his own twisted way).
>Slott created a character that was silver-age monstrosity that talked in stilted age dialog and had the subtly of a nuclear bomb.
>>78292372
Those big toe claws make it impossible for me to take this image seriously.
Johns' JSA
>>78285326
Ha! Waid, all day.
Priest/Bright's stuff in general.
Not just Q2
>>78288595
Probably an ad.
Oh, and Alex Raymond Flash Gordon
>>78292485
JSA was better when Johns had help from Robinson and Goyer. The second and third trades, Darkness Falls and Return of Hawkman, are the best.
>>78292615
Eh...
>>78292615
Speaking of Robinson
>>78296706
That's an obvious one.
