Remember when a teenage girl molested Bart so she could lie and say he was the father of her baby and Homer and Marge got all mad about it, but only because it turned out Bart wasn't the father and they didn't even care that he was molested and that was the only thing they cared about?

Also reminder that Sideshow Bob has animal-themed superpowers now.

Didn't they just, like, kiss and hold hands, which Bart was okay with?

Calling it molestation seems like kind of a stretch.

Didn't he also get a driver's license as a reward earlier in the episode that set everything in motion? Fucking hell this plot.

She thought he was 17 because he had a license to drive (given to him legitimately by Mayor Quimby in reward for his services to Springfield) and was driving around Sheblyville or North Haverbrook or wherever the fuck it was she was from on his own in Homer's car.

OP doesn't understand the rest of the plot because it involved human emotions, so you know what you have to do: keep solving those captchas until OP can tell pizza from cliffs and kittens reliably.

Having some time pass could really refresh this stale series, but I think they've had so many episodes with no time passing that they feel they have to keep it that way, even if that's not what they want to do. But they've done every plot they can think of with the current versions of the characters at least twice at this point. The only alternative to changing the characters is guest stars and pop culture references.

He was driving around in a car with a real license. He had to be at least 16, which was her age. For reference, this is Tom Holland, the new Spider-Man, aged 14. Doesn't look to me like his balls dropped then, but he doesn't really look like it now, which is why they hired him.

As you know, ever since Bart the Lover it's been canon that Bart's emotional maturity is above average ("Truly, yours is a butt that won't quit."), and ever since Kamp Krusty it's been clear he has sexual desires for older females.

I agree it was really pushing it that Darcy would actually think Bart is 17. Also the voice acting in this episode was pretty scattershot - I wish they'd get an actual Amerindian actor to do those kind of voices because Hank Azaria fails at it and Nancy Cartwright was rather shitty considering the high amount of lines Bart has here.
>>
>>78270923
Yeah I think its important to note that Bart was completely oblivious to the whole thing. He's not getting in there to get some or something like that, I think like with everything he does...he was hanging out with her because he thought it was cool. She made all the first moves too remember, probably still thinking he was actually a teen.

I didn't really find it dirty at all, just an oblivious kid accidentally going places he's not supposed to yet. Really, the kind of scenario I think Bart's at his best in.
>>
LBG had some good gags but the plot was a huge pile of fail and AIDS.

>Lisa lying about being Amerindian
>Bart 's fire extinguisher escapade
>Lisa continuing to lie about being Amerindian for no credible reason
>Bart falling in love
He's a fucking prepubescent kid at the age when they still think girls have cooties. But here he's driving around town like a pimp getting girls swooning over him left and right. And to top it off, Bart spills his spaghetti and runs for the hills when Darcy announces she's pregnant. Like a 10 year old is really gonna have that kind of reaction or even understand exactly what's going on.
>Darcy gets pregnant and...
Ok teen pregnancy is entirely normal and believable, less so that her parents would be cool with it and also pretend that their kid and Darcy's are siblings. That's just creepy. Oh and her screwing with a 10 year old. As pointed out earlier, how on earth could you possibly mistake a 10 year old for a high schooler?
>>
>>78276118
>less so that her parents would be cool with it and also pretend that their kid and Darcy's are siblings. That's just creepy.

You know white trash do this in real life? There was one freak incident where a 6 year old was impregnated by her grandfather and the resulting child was raised as her sibling. Truth is more fucked up than fiction.

Natalie Portman was actually pretty good - the regular cast except Yeardley were just eh.
>>
>>78276118
>Bart 's fire extinguisher escapade
hahaha, c'mon dude. like the way the fire started was any more comprehensible? it went through a failed rube goldberg sequence, then a corncob pipe restarts it, the fire travels over a river via a raft, switches directions and opens a gate, then heads towards the flamable district. and the thing you have a logical issue with is how it got put out. hahaha, c'mon dude.
>Bart falling in love
i had my first crush in preschool, and it lasted until 6th grade, all before puberty. i kissed her frequently when i was nine, and from my viewpoint as a kid, i thought we were gonna be together forever. i'm sure there's not

and bart has been written as an adult trapped in a kid's body since the show's inception. classic bart is basically an adult's opinions from a kid's perspective (and with a kid's ability to voice those opinions w/o consequence), and if you have an issue with bart displaying a jaded maturity beyond his years, then you have a problem with the whole concept of bart.
>>
The flaming Smithers joke was pretty funny also Burns's Jack Benny facial expression. That joke must have been suggested by Harry Shearer since he worships JB and even had a bit appearance on his TV show as a kid.
>>
The Lisa plot was unnecessary and took screentime away from the Bart plot that needed more time to work properly. Darcy shows up halfway through the episode, it's rushed, forced, and she was probably one of the least compelling gfs he's ever had (no personality to speak of beyond generic teenage slut).

And the ending was like a big Fuck You, we know this story is impossible to take seriously since we developed it in such a slapdash, shallow way so we're going to cop out with some shit about her mom being pregnant as well because it doesn't really matter anyway.
>>
>>78276352
Lisa's plot was as shallow as a pan of water, but would you rather cut a lot of the sequences and gags (which I must admit were good) just to see her grapple with her decisions and force the idea that we should care at all? I thought Bart's plot was great. It was all through his own eyes and imagination, they gave plenty of reason for him to ditch Homer. Yes, he and Darcy's romance was underdeveloped, but that's because there wasn't one at all. Like I said earlier, it had this very Calvin & Hobbes style of what a child thinks responsibility and adulthood is. He was obviously going through the motions and we found out after the act break that the girl was using him.
>>
Good points:

>Homer saying "Someday you'll be a good dad too."
>the animation was very nice - I love Darcy's character design

Bad points:

>the dialog and voice acting were meh
>Lisa's plot was too thin
>15 year old mistaking a 10 year old for a high schooler was too unbelievable

Some good jokes like Lisa almost getting speared with an arrow and Cletus's alien. The plot necessarily required Bart to be an innocent child for it to work although they had to ignore some continuity like Homer telling him about sex in All's Fair In Oven War, but hey, who cares, right?

The ending was distinctly uncomfortable. Teen pregnancy is a twitchy issue and the way this episode resolved it didn't seem very appropriate. Her relationship with Bart was kind of pushing it.
>>
>>78276396

It's not like the plot had to resemble a bad Lifetime movie to work, it's just that they rushed it too hard because of Lisa's story. Darcy was painfully undeveloped and totally generic compared to Jessica or Laura or Gina.
>>
>>78271476
It was a foreign exchange student not Jimbo
>>
Teen pregnancy is a sensitive topic I know and they could have done something dark and dramatic with that, but they decided to keep things light and not-too-serious and maybe that was the best option. I mean, the show is supposed to be a comedy so there's nothing wrong with being a little silly.
>>
>>78276687
He's confusing this episode with the later Stealing First Base where Darcy has a cameo appearance and it's shown that she had a second kid with Jimbo.
>>
>Darcy's parents: "SHE'S PREGNANT!?"

>>
>>78276532
>the animation was very nice - I love Darcy's character design

It was good some of the time, other times characters looked weird and off-model. And I could swear Bart's tongue was green in one scene.
>>
North Haverbrook (nice Marge vs the Monorail reference) is kind of portrayed as a cliche 1950s town with sock hops and drive-in movies and where teenage girls have to be hidden if they get pregnant. Also the odd Henny Youngman and Jack Benny references...like someone else suggested, Harry Shearer may have played a bigger than usual part in the writing process (since he's a child of the 50s).

>>
>>78278162
What, do you expect a medal for it or something?
>>
>>78275754
Really? I had no issues with the voice acting in this episode. Yeardley Smith was particularly good here because she got to show off her range more (when Lisa acts surprised/upset/fearful/annoyed) as opposed to most of the time when Lisa is just the straight man character.

I also think Nancy Cartwright's performance was perfectly fine and on-part with the classic seasons at points ("I'm 10 _and_ stupid.") Natalie Portman was also quite good and better than many guest stars (looking at you, Zooey)
>>
>>78271316
Quality animation
>>
It should also be noted that Portman played a young single pregnant girl looking for a family or husband to take her in in the 1999 film Anywhere But Here – but that’s not really a REF either (at least I don't think it is)
>>
You know, a lot of people hold up Little Big Girl as some standout of its season, but I don't see it. Maybe it's popular for being a new, edgier twist on the basic "Bart gets a gf" plot but really after watching the whole thing it's short on memorable stuff.

As other people ITT said, Darcy was nothing special as a character. The subject matter had the chance to push the envelope, but the writers took their foot off the gas.

The Lisa subplot...mediocre at best.

Bart getting a driver's license is shades of Bart On The Road and it does get a few interesting bits, but then Darcy just kind of materializes from the mist almost halfway into the episode and she ends up being an absolutely unremarkable, unmemorable character compared with past Bart gfs. And 10 year old pregnancy jokes? Come on. The writers have to know a 10 year old can't get someone pregnant although they had no problem with Nelson jacking it to cheesecake pics in The Scorpion's Tale, so what do I know?
>>
my most watched episode due to masturbation fuel with darcyxbart. that's my ship. 10/10
>>
Bart gets a girlfriend, again. So, so far he's got out of it because one constantly got him into trouble and was an abusive b*tch, he treated Gretta awfully and in the end didn't even get she was into him and when he dumped her he got jealous becuase she wasn't with him and you can hardly class Gina as a girlfriend, but if you must.

First thing is that Darcy doesn't have a real personality, but who cares she's probably some normal teen who likes the normal stuff etc. There is a bit more of a tangible relationship here than there was before with Bart's girlfriends and to be honest I really liked the part when Bart was driving the car by himself and the ringtone and picture a homer has on Bart's cellphone is hilarious and makes me laugh every time. Best line by far is where Homer tells Bart to throw the volleyballs to the prison to "create chaos and confusion", always makes me laugh

The subplot with Lisa is passable, it's ok.

In conclusion it's probably one of the better "relationship" episodes Bart has had, it's defintley better than "Bart Wants What it Wants" where Bart is a total jerkass. The relationship is believable and there are some good gags here and there, plus the sub-plot doesn't interfere with the main plot to often and it works fine

She was peruvian and not white, got pregnant at 4 and gave birth at 5, the father was accused initially but was innocent, the real father was never found but it was suspected to be the grandfather. Also she was fucking 5 years old. Of course they would raise the kid as a sibling and not as her son. Making a 5 years old hold the responsibility of raising a child would make things even more fucked up!

Yeah? And it's reasonable to assume a chick in a bar is over 21 but that doesn't stop anyone from having their lives completely unhinged and all of their friends and family abandoning them.

Probably the only decent Bob appearance in the new seasons was when Bart was talking to a girl near some train tracks and she asked" how are things back home?" And Bart replied "Bob escaped from jail again" and as he said that you see Bob behind some bushes coming at him with a knife only to get hit by a train.
