Don't

New X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Men. Stop when you reach Avengers vs X-Men.
>>
>>78248969
Read Claremont's Uncanny X-Men, then read Claremont's New Mutants.
>>
You read Claremont's X-Men and stop with Claremont's X-Men.
>>
>>78248969

Y'know Marvel is literally killing off the mutants, right? In a few years there'll be no X-Men to get into anymore.
>>
>>78249442
Don't be retarded, downsizing I get but there's still a bit of profit to be made off X-men. I doubt that the Disney Overlords would be that spiteful that they'd kill the whole franchise.
>>
>>78248969
If you enjoy House of M, may I suggest Astonishing Xmen by Joss Whedon, the writer and director of the Avengers?
>>
>>78249509

Oh man, I hope you're right but Disney is pretty brutal when it comes to that, I mean, there isn't a FF book anymore and I'm pretty sure we'd be getting a lot less Spider books if the deal with Sony hadn't gone through.

>no ff book
Fuck you Marvel

Don't you mean inhumans op?
>>
>>78249728
I like ChoHulk but that sentence angers me.
>>
>>78249728

That'd be just pouring salt on the wound, and I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel did it, except it'd have a token appearance by Johnny Storm to give his "blessing" to the new team.
>>
>>78249787
And probably written by Bendis, since I doubt he'd let anyone write Miles.
>>
>>78249728
I'd read it.
>>

If you want to be a Nostalgiafag stuck in the past, read Claremont.

If you want current/current-ish, as well as to understand stuff like why Emma is with Scott and why the X-men aren't like the cartoons, Start with New X-men.

The added bonus of the latter is you wont bitch "Not Muh Claremazons" Not Muh Wolverine" Not muh everything" and you'll easily spot people who cover their eyes when their characters are completely different now from the waaaaay outdated and no longer present personalities they had in the 70'-early 90's.
>>
New X-Men #114-154

Good shit, trust me ^^
>>
>>78249909
Mind you, I'mm not saying don't read Claremont, I'm just saying don't start and then get stuck there. His stories are much much less relevant to the current state of the X-men compared to say House of M or Messiah Complex or AvX
>>
>>78248969
Read Brian Michael Bendis Uncanny X-men and All-new X-men. It's the best run so far and sets the new status quo for future writers.
>>
>>78250076
Why would I care about the current state of X-Men when the books aren't as good? Start with Claremont, read till about '92 when things start going to shit. Then stop and pick X-Statix up, and read Astonishing or New X-Men if you're still interested. I'd honestly wouldn't recommend House of M or AvX who cares if they're "relevant" when they're not good.

It's 100% Perlmutter. If you're going to blame the evil jews for everything then at least blame the RIGHT evil jew.

Also
>killing a franchise that they're producing two shows for
Hilarious.

I should really get around to making the actual image sometimes.

See, OP, this type of thinking is what I would want to avoid; "Not da best X-men", "Not muh X-men". Unless your question is "how can I read the best of the X-men", which is then debatable (No on AvX cuz /co/ hates it ands for once they have quite a point, but stuff like Second Coming is pretty entertaining, etc). If you're going for relevancy and their current state (so you can see who the blonde Cyke is nailing is and why he's not plowing Jean), then >>78249909

Why do you want to get into X-men?
>because the characters look cool
then just buy the current issues with those characters
>because I want to join in conversations with my friends
then ask your friends for recommendations
>because faggots on the internet make fun of my lack of knowledge
start with The X-Men#1 then move on to Giant-size X-Men and ask again when you need to.
