I'm looking at a lot of artwork of Khali and none of it gives me an Opal vibe. Most Khali art has her wearing almost no clothes at all, with big tusky teeth and wild hair. Lakshmi fits Opal much better - kindly, beautiful, four arms, uses a bow, associated with light.
Actually, if anything, that makes Sugilite a pretty good Khali. She's tusky, violent, and ugly, but she's also genuinely affectionate towards Steven.

Fusions are probably considered without rank. After all, if any two Gems could do a little dance and instantly become stronger and smarter, then the whole caste system breaks down. It's another reason why Peridot thinks staying fused all the time is weird, because on Homeworld, Gems likely just fuse long enough to do a task and then break up before they start getting ideas.
So on top of the stuff about Fusion being like having sex while openly carrying guns, imagine that while they're having their shootfucking, the partners are also shouting "Fuck the system! Down with authority!"

Rose calls her "My Pearl," at the end of her speech, and earlier in the episode, Pearl is so staunch that Rose could never lie to her because their relationship was deep and special. This implies that there's more than one Pearl out there, and Pearl and Rose's close relationship was uncommon - in itself, implying that Pearls are low on the totem pole.
