Take pic related for instance. A valiant effort I admit, but what's killing me is his size/frame. Seems a bit small considering Apocalypse often towers over people. What other comic costumes in your opinion prove difficult to adapt or simply didn't work?

I am very unsure how they will handle Iron Fist's mask.
>>
>>78197140
Apocalypse is hardly difficult, they're just afraid of the source material and being called cheesy. Fuck them.
>>
>>78197218
Well I guess if they can make Thanos work, Apocalypse shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm actually curious how they'll justify his appearance considering FOX won't even touch yellow X Men suits

Don't do the white eyes just make it like Daredevil's protocostume with cut out eyeholes and the black shapes.

>>
>>78197218
Oh come the fuck on. Look certain cape costumes ARE too cheesy for live action adaptations, like Hawkeye's original costume. Thanos needed to be straight up CGI in order to work and we all know what happened when they tried to CGI an entire costume on someone.

Movie Apocalypse is just as over the top as the comic version.
>>
I actually can't tell the difference between these pictures and Ivan Ooze.

>>78198590
I strongly disagree. Hawkeye could look totally fine if made from the right materials. Thanos only doesn't work because he's fucking 8 feet tall and five feet wide. You can't translate magic tights to real life, but you can still carry over most of the design elements.
>>
>>78198662
>Hawkeye could look totally fine if made from the right materials
With the big pointy mask and H on his forehead? You're dreaming anon
>>
>>78197140
>"Everything I've missed! The Black Death, the Spanish Inquisition, The BRADY BUNCH REUNION!"
>>
>>78197140

It actually looks pretty great in the trailer. Seems to be the exact same thing as Quicksilver, look shit as a promo image but entirely OK in the actual movie.
>>
Its not hard they just suck and barely tried
>>
>>78198590
There is no such thing as a costume that cant be made well with changes, good materials, and confidence. I really hate your mindset and how its so popular for no logical reason when Spider-Man is the most popular superhero ever and in live action, like somehow your brain doesn't make this obvious connection and contradiction.
>>
>>78197288
Only hard part is the mask because it doesn't make logical sense for it to move.
>>
>>78198631
How fucked up is this scene?

Apoc's palm is as big as Charles, that means that it weights around 70 kilograms, making Apoc about 13-14 tons, not to mention his dimensions. Why is this room still intact?
>>
>>78199479
Mutant powers anon, ain't gotta explain shit
>>
>>78197140
Its not hard, if you think liks that nothing will get done
>>
>>78197351
Apparently Dadoe didn't like the mask because of its inconvenience. Shame.
>>
>>78199889
Dafoe *
>>
>>78197156
We'll probably end up seeing his eyes.
>>
>>78197140
It's not the source material being hard to adapt.
It's the production studio trying to keep the character "grounded" and of course, they also think they know better.
>>
>>78197262
>FOX won't even touch yellow X Men suits

Didn't watch First Class heh?

Also, that's not Apocalypse's final look. He's blue (and much like the comics) in the trailer. He's just not Hulk-size but it seems he will undergo a transformation in the movie.
>>
Wolverine and Hawkeye are really hard to do. Something about the mask always looking ridiculous IRL.
>>
>>78197140

Seriously, fox suckers

Why can't you adapt something this simple? Apocalypse can be done with any studio, just not with that incompetent director.
>>
>>78199479
Pretty sure he's size changing there. I mean, you see him in other places and he's normal sized.

>>78197288
I feel like I'm the only one who liked Green Goblin's tokusatsu villain outfit.

>>78199429
Spider-Man's--and Superman's--costume in the comics is basically a zentai suit. In the movies it's form fitting rubber where they've made muscle inserts (because if they used an actual zentai suit it wouldn't show the muscles, even if you're Henry Cavill ripped) and textured rubber material.
>>
>>78198590
Whos costume did they use 100% CGI?
>>
>>78200940
Hulk, for one. But also Iron Man's is more or less all CGI. They have a suit for RDJ to act in, but that gets CG enhanced.

Which, by the way >>78200937
>In the movies it's form fitting rubber where they've made muscle inserts (because if they used an actual zentai suit it wouldn't show the muscles, even if you're Henry Cavill ripped) and textured rubber material.
that's also CG enhanced.
>>
>>78200955
Well... call me a pleb but I didn't think Hulk or Iron Man look too bad
>>
>>78200985
They don't. Hell, from the trailer I don't think Apocalypse looks bad.
>>
>>78200955
I thought you were speaking of a difference between a CGI costume and straight up CGI character. Costume-wise I assumed referred to Green Lantern's bacon suit.
>>
>>78201012
Oh well >>78198590 anon made it sound like they were bad, unless I misunderstood
>>
>>78200905
>>78200935
>these people already a better looking Apocalypse
>without the millions of dollars
>>
>>78201019
>>78201043
Oh, wait. Yeah, they were probably talking about Green Lantern. I actually didn't think that was too bad, myself, and it kind of fits in my opinion. GL's costume is after all hard light.

It's the rest of that movie that's the problem. Like, just fucking ALL of it. When it opened with a narration I thought to myself "how much did I pay for this again?"
>>
>>78201063
Those aren't much better. They're not screen tested, probably don't have a good range of motion. The one >>78200935 even has flashing and edge marks, and probably can't even move.

People want a unique looking character to make a full page to screen adaptation without changes. That's not going to happen.
>>
>>78201064
I haven't seen more than the last like 10 mins, but I knew it was going to be trash the second I heard the name Ryan Reynolds
>>
I'm more disappointed at Angel
those fucking wings looked like they belong back in 2003, plus they could have at least given more effort on those metal feather projectiles.
>>
>>78199479
Calling its all in Charles head. Its not really size changing.
>>
>>78201102
pretty much this
it's either a dream sequence, Charles being allowed to enter Apoc head (when Charles uses Cerebro in the trailer) or Apoc sends a message to Charles
>>
>>78201090
>Hating on Ryan Reynolds
He's the only good thing about that movie.

>>78201091
Metal winged Angel fits with Apocalypse better. But also will always look fucking stupid.

It's probably gonna end up looking similar to a luchador mask
>>
>>78201082
pretty sure one is photoshopped and the other didn't have a massive budget with which they could adapt the detailed mask for mobility. If the only way for your Apocalypse mask to be screen tested is by making it look like a generic Star Trek-tier purple man with a wrinkly forehead, you probably blew your budget on something even more retarded.
>>
>>78201172
Or they spent it on things that matter, as opposed to making the one guy look like a weird cartoon robot with a big chin.
>>
>>78201194
>spending money on JLaw, her ego and empty big head
>>
>>78201194
Isn't he like the main villain? I'd think he'd be worth a little extra focus and detailing to make him memorable and invoke his iconic comic appearance. Apparently one of the biggest X-Men villains doesn't matter, though.

Even Magneto got his M helmet.

>>
>>78201305
yeah, trying to look "realistic" is the way to go

because he's just some real guy in some armor doing regular real human guy stuff in his realistic world where everything is like real life.
>>
>>78201338

>>
>>78201169
This is so cringe. I can't. The way it looked in UA3 was fine. Maybe it's because of the white covering his eyes, without it can look a bit cheesy.
>>
>>78201425
I'm sure they can put lenses on it like the Spider-Man masks.

One at least look like the costume designers weren't told to be afraid of looking cheesy.

Capes are actually very impractical and they tend to get twisted up and jammed in moving parts, like bike gears and chains. Or they just wrap around your face and block your mouth nose and eyes.

"on screen" "in motion" that doesn't mean anything. It would look the fucking same as it does in the picture just like everything else in history

>>
>>78202171
This looks fucking awesome, dude. I legitimately feel robbed. I dont think its just that Marvel Studios is embarrassed, they are lazy. It is more difficult to actually have a back story and explanation for his costume, it is easier to make him a SHIELD grunt with an agent codename and signature purple highlight. If they had actually done his origin story as a costumed thief in a world of costumed heroes that would of actually been interesting so they pussied out and made him so much more dull as a character and visually.

This looks good. In my opinion almost any costume can be made into live action if the people making it actually care and have passion for it, taking care to use the major identifying elements and good materials. I think the mindset of OP and whomever you were replying to is also a lazy and unimaginative one. Sorry for using you as a soap box.

>>
>>78202858
Not Fox only, DC and Marvel prefer black tacticool suits too.
>>
>>78202256
Hawkeye has a backstory that requires a solo film. There is no point trying to cram it into The Avengers. Even then you're left with his backstory being carnie thief who is really good with a bow, which makes him really hard to link up with the Avengers without having to change the plots.

>>78202446
Oh no, in the movie featuring psychics, a guy who can control metal, a chick who can control the weather, a guy with punches from the punch dimension, and a shapeshifter who violates the conservation of mass, this violation of the square cube law is too much.
>>
>>78202858
And they have their director back that will agree and support it. Ugly armor with no style. Makes one wonder how hard Ryan and his crew had to push for Deadpool to get the color they did.
>>
>>78202985
You're overestimating how much time it takes for a thief's redemption. Talented filmmakers do movies with many characters all the time and still manage to make each one meaningful and well written.
>>
>>78201734
I don't see any yellow X-Men suits.
>>
>>78197140
If he wasn't looking up and had broader shoulders he wouldn't look like ivan ooze.
>>
>>78203105
Again, you're talking a complete change of plots from the Avengers. I think the best way to do Hawkeye's comic origin would have been to run him as a supporting character in a Black Widow solo film. Have him be a disposable asset she hired on to take part in a mission, play up some thematic similarities, it'd work better than trying to fit his origin story into an ensemble film.
>>
>>78197156
Might not give him a mask. Might end up like Jessica Jones and just have normal clothes.
>>
>>78203220
That was my intended point...
