Snyder allegedly wanted Dick to stay as Batman longer so that he could tell the Court of Owls story before Bruce came back permanently... reboot fucked that up real nice. I mean, we ended up with a pretty good Batman arc and a pretty good Nightwing arc, neither of which was really all that good, but good enough. If those two stories were told together, if the Batman side of things and Dick's involvement in it were both part of the story, it would've been a much better arc, I feel.
