I think the only post-Convergence book that they admitted from the start was a 12 issue mini was Titans Hunt. Then later some promotional materials said that all 3 were meant to be minis but the solicits still had Telos and Lois&Clark as ongoings. We'll see what happens with the solicits today.

He never really did. He strapped Dick to a chair... and set up a team-up between Dick and Owlman that never happened. Of course, he planned for Dick to supposedly lead a resistance against Ultraman, but that, I guess, was canned before it could happen.
I don't hold it against the man, clearly plans changed, but that doesn't mean he didn't do a disservice to the character. No one asked for him to be included, he just was, and was hyped up as a major character at that.
As a "fan" of Dick Grayson, I think Johns owes him something.
I do agree that Darkseid War is not exactly the perfect place to do it, but at this point, I just want it over with. I want to know that Forever Evil wasn't for nothing. Also, Batman is still in that damn chair. Guess who would be the perfect character to get him out of it? And again, I just want Dick to get back at Owlman, just once. Let it end there. Owlman is supposedly still searching for Dick. So let Dick find Owlman and show him why Dick will never work with him. Nothing more.

I say it's both because in order to reconcile all the different versions you also have to go with the Morrison approach which is that the "true" versions exist outside of the orrery and each Earth has its own one too with Earth-51 having the most classic versions.
Otherwise I don't know how you can make sense of things like Earth-2 or even Earth-12 existing alongside the Earth-0 versions. Darkseid can be handwaved as merging a few different copies together.
I got to confess something. Darkseid War has been a bit disappointing for me. It reduced both Anti-Monitor and Darkseid in power and grandiose. It only shows Mister Miracle as a glorified chump. It doesn't feature Orion or any of the other New Gods that should be in this. That prophecy thing with Lex and shit also was really undeveloped and forced.
