Like hell I like the concept, you can do some good stories with it. But retreading MMPR just holds it back. Mix and match and don't be afraid to take inspiration from Zyuranger as well as MMPR, hell all of PR and Sentai. I know there very different stories but if you're going to deepen the lore take from other places, add more Rangers if you want, swap out team members, re-adapt in a modern time as opposed to being stuck in the 90's, set it in its own continuity ala Transformers and Turtles adaptations, just don't let nostalgia/continuity boners hold over everything.
This could be the IDW Turtles/TMNT of PR, adaptations that take the best from everywhere and add there own twist, but they need to let it have some freedom and nail the tone.

Really the only real continuity I'd say is MMPR to whatever series was after In Space since I remember them stealing the ship from that season for some reason.
The only real connection beyond that is the single cross over episode each season. If it wasn't for that you could just say each season was its own universe with no connection to anything else, you could even remove most if not all the cross over episodes and each season is not affected at all.
