Because you can. Nothing wrong with a character acknowledging that a retro look is retro.

It was entertaining
>got the mutant characters down pat
>action was pretty good (Splinter vs Shredder and that mountain chase scene)
>just like the TF movies, this was mostly from the main human lead's perspective
This sequel's cast promises to give the turtles 2/3 of the movie's focus/screentime
>>
>>78168966
I got pretty hyped too with seeing Bebop and rocksteady that I decided to watch the first one, I enjoyed it,
>>78169152
The Turtles seemed to have more screen time than what the Transformers had. It did have some bad pacing where they're suddenly in thrown into the climatic parts starting with their lair being breached. Also Shredder had shit backstory, which was none.

Because despite making money, the first movie was shit and left a sour taste in people's mouths with them making the Turtles serious and realistic. I remember those shades being popular in the 80s. In fact back when you could still call people faggots and chinks in public they used to put these shades on Asian people. See big trouble in little China.

Sachs was indeed supposed to be Shredder but they changed it because of the racebending uproar. But it only made the movie weaker, thanks guys.

Oroku Saki wasn't cast before the reshoots but was it true that Sachs was supposed to be his disciple or adopted son anyway? I think some leakers said so.

I wish Raph had a regular bandanna not a head scarf.
>>
>>78169557
Turtles are getting more screentime then the Autobots because they're far more merciful to the rendering computers. A Transformer with a shitload of moving parts is an expensive pain in the ass to do, hence the human focus of the movies.
>>
I'm a firm believer that Leo and Raph should duke it out in ever movie.

And Leo should win every time.
>>
>>78176417
The first one was fun, the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>78168853
>Was the first one any good?
Not by any real margin, but it's not terrible if you get past the pacing and about 3 or 4 characters being completely unnecessary.
>>
>>78176535
>>78168853
the turtles were good on the first movie, everything else was terrible (it was the exact opposite of the animated cg film)
>>
>>78176535
I found the first one to be really enjoyable, but, to be fair It focuses too much on Megan Fox and her character for it to really be a Turtles movie, and the backstory where they learn kung-fu from a booklet is kind of disappointing and silly, even if silly isn't inherently a bad thing it can rub people the wrong way.
There's also not having the ideal Shredder and Karai, who I'm sure most don't even remember her being there.
With this sequel, the first one could end up being a decent set-up for things to come for fans and the like, but it's completely understandable for some to have been disappointed with the first.
>>
>>78176560
How were the turtles bad in the CG movie?
>>
>>78176625
well, maybe not as far as to say bad, but they were the least interesting aspect of the movie
>>
>>78176653
Maybe if you are a Donnie or a Mikey fan, because Raph and Leo totally control that movie.
>>
>>78176653
Mostly because so much time was spent on Leo doing nothing and Raph doing something that was completely unimportant. All to justify them getting in an argument and fight about nothing important.

>>78176673
Not in a good way. Raph has some amusing scenes at best, but overall again it was a lot of nothing. Leo was literal nothing.

I'd say about this time last year when all of them showed up.

>>
>>78177851
>but I could be richer"?
Can't speak for the pot, but his character seems to be based on greed and manipulation. So there's no real higher thinking necessary since the reason he's in the position he's in to begin with is because there's never enough for him.
Also he for whatever reason was a student of Oroku Saki and so I guess he's just inclined to be evil and do whatever Shredder asks.

>Don't be surprised if they bring in the technodrome and KRANG!

If they bring back the Technodrome then the third movie might just end up good. That's the one thing that could look pretty fucking cool in Bayverse visuals, assuming they keep the basic shape and don't turn it into a hollowed out metal endoskeleton like they did with the Transformers.
>>
>>78173763
The portal is from Dimension X so Krang is in it. I don't give a fuck if they are cashing in on nostalgia, I'm all for that. 80s nostalgia is fucking funny, I'm down for it
>>
>>78176483
>A Transformer with a shitload of moving parts is an expensive pain in the ass to do, hence the human focus of the movies.

No, that's just an excuse. Transformers focused more on humans because Bay wanted to do a "boy and his car" movie, basically Herbie or Knight Rider with a teenager. And the transformers themselves would have been easy to animate too, but they wanted them to look as if H. R. Giger designed them, which is what made them difficult to do.

If they kept Optimus looking like his old blocky self, he would've been easier to animate than the Turtles are - you don't even need to break down the model to basic shapes, they ARE basic shapes, no tissue or muscle movement other than the odd piston, etc.
>>
>>78176625
>How were the turtles bad in the CG movie?

Take Jim Carreys black kids from Me, Myself & Irene, turn them into Shrek lookalikes, and teach them kung fu.

That's basically what they are in the CG movie.
>>
>input 2 fan favorite villains
>actually make Shredder a character
>turtles actually look more like actual turtles and not black people
>movie looks like way more fun than the 1st
Holy shit did they actually listen to people for once?
>>
Anyone else think that Raph and Leo's design needed the least amount of fixing?
>>
>>78178245
Well this movie isn't being bounced from person to person like the last film, so that's a big helping hand for it. They aren't having to do reshoots to make the plot less crap, they've got a cohesive plan and vision. And its got its eye squarely on the nostalgia money to be made, what with bringing in some of the iconic stuff from the animated series.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Going by the trailer alone the movie looks like its gonna have a lot more fun with itself and its source material. We're still stuck with Megan Fox though.
>>
Are they literally ignoring the first movie and retconning everything? Because I hope so. I hated the poor shredder/splinter relationship.
>>
>>78177966
I just had to google that didn't I
>>
Am I seeing things or are they smaller?
>>
>>78178598

>>
>>78178598
There's a shot in the trailer with Raph and Mikey close enough to April to do a comparison if you have the time but I don't think they've changed much.
>>
>>78173763
>the first movie left a sour taste in people's mouths with them making the Turtles serious and realistic
kek. And yet the 90s movie is still considered the most "serious and realistic". These turtles weren't brooding gtfo with that shit.
>>78176413
>>78177894
It's a ninja gang in NYC!, why wouldn't they have an American branch led by a White business prick? Even his Foot members were more guys with guns than actual ninjas. Plus, his character was Eric Sachs, so you could've easily saved the real Shredder for the sequel anyways.
>>78178377
Leo had the weirdest samurai garb I've ever seen. It's Donnie and Raph for me, but I much prefer they all wear pants and let their shell stick out more like they do now.

>turtles actually look more like actual turtles and not black people

They've barely changed. Raphael has the biggest changes and oddly enough his lips are more pronounced than before.

Both Raphael and Donatello have had their cheek lines reduced dramatically, but Mikey's are still Shrek levels and Leonardo barely had them to begin with. That's about it.
>>
Is the 2012 cartoon good? I was thinking of watching it.
>>
>>78179477
The fuck does glib mean?
>>
>>78179554
It's decently good. If you ask me it kinda toes the line between 1987 goofiness, and 2003 seriousness.
Also Gilbert Gottfried plays a Kraang.
>>
>>78179569
You extra-motherfucker.
>>
>>78179004
we can have serious turtles and comic turtles, who the fuck cares if they are seperate. Nothing will top the old 90s turtle movie for seriousness because Jim Henson is dead, and we will never get another like him. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a fun turtles version, and this is the first movie that looks like it will embrase that version. T3 tried but it sucked a lot of ass, this may actually show the fun part

Not sure what to make of that, on the one hand I'm glad Raph was received well for his efforts but on the other why did he ruin a pacifier and spill baby milk needlessly? Does that woman look like she's in the position to afford those things and be going out for them? The sushi he made her hold was more vital than those things?
