Any of the strips where Calvin goes a little too far into one of his various "characters".

I don't have the full strip but this is probably the funniest Calvin and Hobbes moments I know of.

Thanks to centripetal motion, the outside is actually experiencing more force than the inside, causing the difference in speed.

My father played monster games like this with my brother and I. We also had a big red plastic bat. We would try to barricade ourselves(in a room, or behind the sofa), but his arm would reach where ever we were hiding.

My brother would take the bat and just slam it on Dad's arm until he went away.

Years later we talked about this, and how strong Dad was, and the fun we had. Turned out Dad thought my brother would tire out, but he just wouldn't fucking stop. It hurt like hell.
>>
>>78167289
A reminder that this comic was taken down from DA as child porn because it is based on characters that once where children. Them the artist made a version with two elderly people claiming they were never kids and just appeared in the world as old people.

This one is just legitimately painful to read. "Let's go exploring..." there's absolutely no closure to a comic that was such a wonderful run.

It's like watching the first dog you ever owned bark at you and smile before disappearing into the woods forever.

It doesn't really need closure, though. This was the most fitting end the strip could've had, showing that Calvin's life and adventures go on and ending on a positive note and reminding the reader that there are other things out there to see and experience.

>>
>>78171122

Does it? I mean, the Justice League cartoon did the same thing, and I never thought their ending was unfulfilling. I... I don't know. I don't know how the comic could've ended properly. Maybe it's because there's something intangibly sobering about watching an excited child running off into a snowy wilderness and never being seen again. Maybe it's just the inherent open-endedness of it all.

All I know is that this ending's always disagreed with me on some sad, subconscious level.

I remember when I bought the full Calvin and Hobbes collection books, the big hardcover ones with color pages. Must have been like 9 or 10. Blew through them like a crazy, and had a lot of chuckles and giggle, but the fucking Transmogrification Machine storyline literally had me rolling on the fucking floor laughing for ten minutes after every strip. I still can't read it without giggling like an idiot. Fucking panel 3 always gets me.

I like Waterson's iron grip on Calvin and Hobbes and his preference to be left alone. Its much better then him whoring it out or using it as a vehicle to get famous. He's a bigger man then most artists.

I've always loved the strips where Watterson got to show off his artistic skills, or mixed styles. This, the Spaceman Spiff strips, Chaser Bullet, the deer hunter strip, all of them. Of course I also have a soft spot for whenever Stupendous Man showed up.

Good. The more I know about the people that make the things I like, the more the magic dies. Social media has been too effective in exposing the people behind our favorite cartoons/comics/shows to all too often be petulent children, mentally unstable, petty, ignorant, or generally obnoxious fuckers.

Watterson traded what could have been endless riches to retain ownership of his vision, and his privacy. I could only hope to have the stones to do what he did if I were given a similar opportunity in life. I hope he is genuinely happy doing what makes him happy, because C&H still makes me happy to this day.

As someone who grew up in a tropical country and now is in an temperate country having his first real winter I say that snow is much better than the heavy rain we get in tropical countries. Under heave snow you can put some clothes and don't get cold. In my country nothing protects you from heavy rain. The wind makes an umbrella pointless, the more clothes you have the more soaked you get so either you get soaked (that can sucks if it is 10°C or lower) or you put a rain coat that will become a greenhouse full of condensed water.

I love snow.
