Originally the idea for her relationship with Finn was your typical hero getting romantically involved with a girl that might be evil, and take it from there. A fun idea with lots of potential.
But somewhere along the line they gave up on it and very decisively tossed it in the garbage with Frost & Fire.
What happened? Who made that call? Why?
Huh? Maybe the writers ran out of romantic story idea, so they ditched her in midway, just like many other romantic drama nowadays.

Shipping isn't really a plot point. Even in yaoi there has to be something else. They didn't do much with herloved Dungeon Crawl though.
The show was never really meant for a love interest that was anything more than a re-appearing character like what Lady Rainacorn was to Jake, The best way they could've handled Flame Princess was occasionally sprinkling her around doing shit with Finn.
Her core concept was also kinda dumb and way over written to the point that they specifically went out of their way to explain her volatile nature in explicit detail. Most other characters on the show didn't get that amount of detail in that amount of time.

They never gave her any fucking character, and they still haven't years later.
She went from "Finn's girlfriend" to "Fire Kingdom ruler" and she never got anything more than that. Such a dull character.

That is how most of romantic/drama stories eventually turn out. Either the character becomes extremely dull, or the character becomes even more irrelevant in the show.

It's almost embarrassingly simple.
Sugar had a plan for her. It was the most straightforward plan you could think of. Then she left. And the writers left behind have trouble walking in a straight line so they fucked it up like they fucked up everything else.

honestly it's difficult to say it didn't come from some miserable place of self insertion on the characters
but what does it say of the critic when they believe an artist must absolutely agree with the characters in their works????

in my mind CN made they a create a female character the same age as finn for romantic purposes
and it turned out as shit becouse they didn't care and it was not their idea, it was imposed to them

Hello, I'm /tg/. This is pretty much how every game of DnD I've ever run has gone: I make a complex, masterful dungeon for the party to explore, designed to showcase every type of characters strengths and weaknesses and ending with a climactic battle against a powerful and threatening enemy, and instead of doing all that stuff I planned, they break everything they're not supposed to and almost kill themselves in the process.

Shame the show wasn't able to come close to that
FP had so much potential
>>78149499
Yeah, when I first read, it really made me kind of disappointed how they ended up handling their relationship, and FP's character overall.
It's a nice story, and it sort of goes into how there was a lot more they could have done with her.
>>78149548
classic adventure time
Yo that comic was tight. Better than like, every episode released in the last two - three seasons at least.
>>78149548
If that's true then it goes to show just how much AT as a whole lacks synergy between it's crew with everyone going it's own direction
