Why did this fail /co/?
>>
>>78122789

Sabotaged by the network because they didn't like it. In fact, the last episode is titled The Last Episode because they knew by that time the show was cancelled.
>>
>>78122789
Same reason all other adult oriented animation from the early 2000s did. No one asked for therefore no one watched it
>>
>>78122789
Because it wasn't very good.

Yep.

>>78122855

Well, they only aired three episodes. And out of order at that.

>Well, they only aired three episodes.

They only aired two episodes. No one had a chance to watch it.
>>
>>78123309
Does Adult Swim air it anymore?
>>
>>78122851
The first episode they aired was episode 2, which was a clipshow parody that was full of callbacks to episode 1. Someone at the network really hated it.

Also "there was a really big bee over there" is my favorite go-to excuse for not doing something.
>>
>>78124209
Haven't seen it in a long time, they may not even have it anymore. AS only cares about ratings anymore anyway so they probably wouldn't air it anyway
>>
>>78124384
>there's a big bee by the trash
And a few episodes later
>that big bee is still out there

Solid 8/10 kek
>>
>>78124209
they've aired it within the past 2 years I believe
>>
>>78122789
ABC completely fucked up their management of it. They aired the episodes out of order even though the second episode's entire premise was based on it coming after the first. And then they cancelled it midseason. It's still one of my favorite animated series of all time.
>>
There was this big bee
>>
>>78124209
Comedy Central aired it.
>>
Should have gone with UPN.
>>
It's kinda cool that it died before a shitty episode could be made.
>>
>>78128208
It died on episode 1
>>
>>78126536
This.

Smith himself on the commentary said he should have aimed for the brass ring instead. Other smaller networks were clamoring for Clerks but instead he went with a big network that ultimately didn't give a shit about the show.

Kevin Smith was too fat to work in animation. True story: he wrote this huge blog rant about how he'd been kicked out for shovelling doritos into his mouth during a story meeting, then he lost about half his weight in a relatively short space of time. He also admitted he was in fact too fat to work in animation.

What episode is that from?
>>
>>78129411
every time he walked into the building all the scripts and storyboards would fly off of desks and walls to orbit him
>>
>>78129411
how does being fat affect your ability to story board and draw

The burrito one, then it's mentioned again in a later one
>>
it's weird how half the jokes in the show only work because of the incredibly short run, fucked up episode order, and general massive failure

It's such a stupid, silly show, I love it.

"They used to call me Sexy Randall the Pharaoh Wizard."
"No they didn't..."
"One guy did."

"Go, Sexy Randall the Pharaoh Wizard!"

>>78131739
It was short enough that those jokes were able to be funny and not feel forced and overused

Why did this fail /co/?
>>
>>78122789
Second episode was a call-back episode to the first. In the third episode they make more callbacks and reference to previous episodes.
It got old really fucking fast when i tried watching.
>>
>>78133326
Because Adult Swim didn't want 30 minute shows when it was pitched.
>>
>>78131689
Wait... Why are two 22 year-old guys going to a high school reunion? Do they really have 5 year reunions?
>>
>>78129185
Did they explain why they couldn't get it picked up by any other network after ABC gave them a raw deal? Was it one of those deals where ABC owned the rights and wouldn't allow a new network to manage it?
>>
Did you guys know that Clerks was filmed by a live studio audience?

Why did they ever let the Weinsteins convince them to put this on ABC?
>>

In America you finished Highschool at age 13, learn to drive at 14 and get kicked out of your house by age 16. You can legally drink alcohol when you're 30.

It's not easy to write or draw when the best you can do to grip a pencil is wedging it between your huge fingers
>>
>>78133326

Because at the time it was too niche. Something like this would play pretty well now, I'd wager.
>>
>>78133326
It went up against Korgoth and Venture Bros and [as] decided to pick Venture Bros

Also probably not a good idea to start the first episode with a trivia off, though I gave myself a pat on the back when I knew about 85% of the stuff they were referencing.

He wanted this show to come back in 2013, but instead of this we've got Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie.

They aired 4th episode as the first, later the clipshow episode.
