Jesus tapdancing christ that's just 2016! Why is the future so scary /co/?

Did you know that you don't have to watch every movie at the time of release?
>>
>>78121702
The problem is that this board will be even more completely taken over by live action capeshit.
I usually don't complain about this sort of thing, but this is going to be unbearable.

You really think these movies are taking the place of the next Jurassic Park or 2001? (not talking about the franchises here)

You're getting capeshit instead of even more young adult novels and 80s remakes. I'd rather see any MCU movie than any Transformers movie.

I don't watch or read Marvel so the experience isn't ruined on me. Really looking forward to Batman V Superman.

But you ain't wrong, OP. Super hero movies are going a little to ham with this shit. I hope it doesn't go Supernova before DC can expand the universe till at least Green Lantern CORP.
>>
It's gonna collapse, and when it does a half dozen movies are gonna get cancelled. The question is, what will be the movie that murders the trend? We've already seen Fantastic Four and Antman shit the bed, how long before people get tired of the Avengers?
>>
>>78121552
I'm surprised the moviegoing public isn't sick of superhero films at this point.

I mean, I like them myself, but I've been definitely getting burned-out by them

Your 2deep4u indie movies will still come out next year. Chill the fuck out. Besides, its not like anyone is putting a gun to your head forcing you to watch it. Don't watch them if it bothers you so much.

Infinity Wars will defiantly be the straw that breaks the camel's back. It might be sooner with all of the excitement from Civil War that could be where the MCU peaks.

I'm not talking about quality, but the sheer quantity of their annual releases. They're fucking everywhere now. As OP pointed out, there's 7 releasing next year, and that number is only going to increase.

Like I said, I like most of them myself, but I am pretty bored of them.
>>
>>78122501
>Capeshits are the new Monsters.

I was just comparing the two myself. My wife was commenting on how -30 years from now- nobody will remember these movies.

I argued that they will, but rather than remember individually as classics, but we'll remember the "Marvel movies" just like we remember the "Godzilla movies", "Troya movies", or "Hammer Horror movies", even if we haven't even seen 90% of them.
>>
>>78123130
What I'm saying is, as long as they're profitable they're going to keep making them. It's going to keep going long after the movies have turned to shit and everyone you know has been burnt out. I don't know a single person that saw Transformers Age of Extinction, but it still made an enormous profit >>78123087 because of the Chinese apparently. Damn Chinese! Did they just get movies in the last ten years?
>>
just wait for them to come out on bluray, it doesn't really matter
>>
>>78123105
The same way the Transformers shared universe will.
>>
>8,736 hours in a year
>2016 will have 14 hours of cape movies
>"WAHHH 2016 IS LITERALLY NOTHING BUT COMIC MOVIES! "
It'd probably take more time to watch all of JJ and that shit isn't as good as all those movies combined. The amount of cape movies is fine.
>>
>>78122813
>I'm surprised the moviegoing public isn't sick of superhero films at this point.

They're really popular among young teenage boys, and another batch of them pops up every couple of years.

They're also growing increasingly popular with foreign markets, because foreign action is easier to effectively easier to translate and market than drama/comedy/musicals.

This foreign market point is real important. Ever notice how more and more big budget movies are having at least one character/scenes/plot point related to China in some way? In the Chinese release, these characters/scenes/plot points are usually expended upon by additional scenes. All meant to attract Chinese viewers.
>>
>>78122501
Universal trying to make the monsters their capeshit franchise has to be one of the most sad but funny in a trainwreck kind of way that Hollywood has done in the past several years
>>
>>78123303
Okay, then how is the Transformers shared universe going to work?

Age of Ultron made less than Avengers and Ant-Man had the third lowest take of any Marvel movie. Marvel already seems to have peaked from 2012-2014. With Star Wars here now and to be heavily exploited for the foreseeable future, manchildren have a new (if not THE) franchise to geek out over.

Lol this shit ain't going no where and get used to it. As long as billions are made from comic book movies then they won't leave. Plus aren't you glad that something you'd get ridiculed for is now accepted along with the fact that most of the cbm films are decent or even great.

>CAPE MOVIES WILL KILL US ALL
You joke, but as soon as those 2 billion movies start making 1.5 (or hell, 1.7) the corporate overlords are going to start wanting to recover loses and they squeeze DC and Marvel for all they're worth and leave tham back at the shit state they were in the 90s.

It's clear that Marvel can't survive just with comic sells alone, they are multimedia companies more than they are comic publishers now. And as soon as the movies and the current cultural wave that Marvel is riding are gone, so will the merchandise sells. And Disney executives are fools, they aren't going to keep a giant fat chunk of nothing attached to themselves for very long and God only knows what Warner is going to do to DC once BatmanVsSuperman ends up getting destroid by critics and underperforming.

And cape movies are already starting to lose numbers, people are tired. They want something new. Maybe Episode VII will cause a return of the late 70s/early 90s space adventure movies, or maybe Ghost in the Shell is somehow actually good and that causes an interest in adapting manga instead (if that's possible).

And believe me, despite what hipsters might say, you don't wanna see DC and Marvle go down, if they go so will half of the none Cape comic market. Image and Dark Horse will probably not survive and I don't even wanna think about the retailers.
>>
>>78130640
I was thinking about this recently. Once the movies take their course Marvel might be in the same situation they were in the 90s without the movie rights to sell. This could be a good thing because it'll force them to focus on their comics and they won't have the movie going population to fall back on for sales. And maybe comics as a whole can adapt better to the digital age. Or maybe the whole industry will crash and burn, who knows. I hope it can come back better because of this

Reading comics is still considered weird, you'd know that if you actually read comics.
>>

I don't know why people still pretend otherwise. You're allowed to know about shit that happens in the movies and MAYBE some random Wikipedia trivia, but mention anything else and people will start raising eyebrows.

>The Phantom
But the point of the story is he is not a monster, just a really ugly guy.
That would be like having Quasimodo there.
>>
>>78122627

Marvel did too well, now greedy fucks want to make marvelbucks levels of money but they don't fucking understand that the MCU only succeeded because they spent literally years getting it off the ground one movie at a time. The MCU hasn't had an outright shit movie yet, though some have been lackluster. Which is important, because even one major misstep early on and the whole thing might have been a failed experiment.

Now you have DC trying to skip phase 1 and jump directly into phase 2 and pretend that everything is going to work out just fine without any of the prepwork, and it looks like its going to be a fucking disaster. Even universal is salivating at the idea of having a classic monsters shared cinematic universe. Newsflash: universal! We have already seen Dracula, Frankenstein, a werewolf and a mummy on the same screen before. Its called literally every made for TV halloween special made in the last two decades. Hotel Transylvania beat you to the punch and was a comedy at that because this was old hat even a couple of years ago.
>>
>>78123450
>All meant to attract Chinese viewers.

Which is blatant pandering that even they hate. Chinese audiences thought that the end of Iron man 3 was as weird and out of place as we did. They just actually recognized the surgeon as an incredibly famous chinese actor in what you probably assumed was a walk on role.

Superhero movies work oversees because they are boiled down modern myths. You don't need a specific cultural background to be able to enjoy the finer points of Thor hitting a dude with a magic hammer. Even Captain America works over there, because despite having America in his name Steve Rodgers is obviously a good guy no matter where you are from. And fought the US government a bit in Winter Soldier, which China thought was nice because it showed the US as corrupted from the inside.

This is going to be a real mess when the Time Gem finally shows up and we get a time travel plot in a future Marvel movie. Time Travel fiction is banned in China by the government, because they don't want authors using it as an excuse to talk about the past (which China has heavily rewritten their history books on) or the future (if you talk about the future of China, it better be glorious fucking utopia.).
This means that China has never seen Back to the Future. Warning, /co/mrades: in the unlikely event that ou find yourself on a journey through time with a person from China, find a moment to stop and explain the dangers of time travel to them at the earliest opportunity! THEY WON'T KNOW THE RULES.
>>

Thor and Avengers were complete dogshit. Same with Incredible Hulk but that may have been long ago enough to get a pass.

Now that I think of it, the only Marvel films I thoroughly enjoyed were the spiderman movies and those aren't part of MCU.
>>
>>78138488
Meh, the Hulk movie wasn't that bad, that final fight is better than any other fight from the MCU.
>>
These are shows that belong on made-for-TV-specials on ABC but dumb goys keep forking over billions for this trash. Most of these movies don't even have a high production value and have 5 year old level writing.

I pray this cancer dies soon.
>>
>>78132344
Iron Man 3. In fact the Chinese characters got a number of extended scenes that were only included in the Chinese release.
