Does anyone else miss the Exiles? We should talk about the Exiles.
>>
I miss them a whole lot. Just the concept alone is worth keeping the property alive even without the same cast.
>>
I still wish Marvel would reboot it with Alex Wilder and a bunch of teen characters. If they don't want to use more X-characters.
>>
>>78115452

Why would they take a mostly X-book about a team of experienced heroes doing the tough shit that needs to be done into a teen book starring the worst Runaway?
>>
>>78115384
>>78115351
but we have web warriors now with Spider-Gwen. and a bunch of dudes.
>>
Who do y'all think were the best Exiles? I quite liked Mimic, Magnus, Nocturne, and Namorita.
>>
>>78115785

Do they have a tallus?
>>
>>78115788

You mean Namora? She was a hottie witta body
>>
>>78115830
they have a karn.
>>
>>78115984

What's a karn? Is it a red jewel that talks to the leader?
>>
Spider best Carnage.
Well, after Carnageman.
>>
>>78116134
The fact that he seems to be the only alt-universe version of Spidey that keeps the symbiote.
>>
>>78116176
>>78116134

Was Spider's suit a symbiote? I don't remember them ever talking about that, but I liked him. He was a real asshole.
>>
>>78116214
I think they mention that he has an "alien suit" in his bio at the beginning of Iron Doom, and if nothing else just the way it behaved made it seem like a symbiote suit.
>>
>Morph actually isn't Morph anymore
For what purpose?
>>
>>78116176
And it's Carnage instead of Venom. Go figure.
I liked Skrull Rogue, too. And Cyclops with robot arm. Probably more, but I don't remember much.
>>78116214
Yeah, it was Peter wearing Carnage.
>>
>>78116231

Oh, man, that Tony Doom story was fucked. Really, anything that happened to the Weapon X team sucked.
>>
>>78116241
Didn't New Exiles make it so that Morph survived inside his own mind, and ended up becoming pals with Protreus?
>>
>>78116260

Skrull Rogue and roboScott were both from Nocturne's home reality. I really wanted to know more about Skrull Rogue.
>>
>>78116272

They merged, I think.
>>
>>78116260
I thought it was great when Hyperion decided to fuck with them by putting fucking Holocaust on the team, and he ended up deciding to be a team player.
>>
>>78116269
I was really impressed with how they managed to make damn near every death in Exiles hurt. Even Namora's and Magick's made me sad.
>>
>>78116307

Then he snorted him like a particularly potent bump.
>>
>>78116307
Not to mention that Holocaust's design is awesome. I liked him since I read Age of Apocalypse.
>>
>>78116337

Aw, I felt bad for Magik... How did she die again? Got hit by the explosion from Gambit, right? Did any members of Weapon X survive that?

Who's death do you think hurt the worst?
>>
>>78115351

Reminder that to be Thunderbird is to suffer
>>
>>78116386

You mean her retiring gracefully to go live happily forever with Spider-MJ on Legacy Planet, right? Because that's what happened. Right? Right? Guys...?
>>
>>78116399
Very few Exiles really get a happy ending, but Thunderbird had the deck stacked against him from day 1.
>>
I honestly don't feel like I have a good enough grasp on the MU for Exiles, and Winick is a turn off. I know it's supposed to be great. The concept is one I LOVE. Books with that late 90s/00s tone at Marvel don't work for me either

but I guess I'll get to it?
>>
>>78116422
Right. Morph visits regularly. He's a godfather to their adopted children.
>>
>>78116425

Honestly, he got a happy ending, just a horrible start. And a horrible middle. And a horrible backstory.
>>
>>78116466
He had a lot of horrible going on.
What was his end? I know they found out that he wasn't dead, and he was having a kid with Nocturne. But last I saw of Nocturne she had a stroke or some shit.
>>
>>78116361
Hyperion axed Magick I think, got tired of her switching sides.
>>
>>78116461

Honestly, this was the first Marvel book I ever read, and it kind of taught me about the MU. It does a very good job explaining past "historical" events and character relations, plus how more obscure teams and characters like Alpha Flight fit into the grander Marvel universe.

Plus, if you're into that sorta thing, there's quite a bit of booty.
>>
>>78116502

I believe they both retired to Heather's home world.
>>
>>78116547
Oh, that's cool.
Her home world was fucking weird. Wasn't Logan quadriplegic? And Scott was evil?
And Kurt was even more of pirate than usual?
>>
>>78116568

That was TJ's home world. I think aside from her being black and Alpha Flight being important, Heather's home world was fairly typical.
>>
>>78116598
Shit, confused Nocturne and Heather by accident.
I really liked Sasquatch in Exiles, she was cool.
Beak is still the best Exile

The sand trick didn't last long, though. She beat him the first time with the help of Gambit and the other Exiles, the second time they had to bring in two more Hyperions.

>>
>>78117588
They were really a great team
Even with the author changes they stayed constantly in character
I would love to see a new run or even a similar book. Seeing all the different universes and how they worked out was my favorite thing from the book.
>>
>>78117588
Also as much as I didn't like Mimic I wasn't satisfied with his death.
I'd have much rather him selfishly leave the team after finding out their worlds weren't really in danger
>>
>>78117738

His death seemed kind of like the writer didn't like him and wanted to just say fuck him. First the Deadpool thing, then drawing out his possession and death, then he died as a burn out, thin, gross ugly corpse.
>>
>>78117529
War, sorry, posting from a phone. Butterfingers.
>>
>>78117888

Oh, haha. That's kinda obvious, now I feel kinda dumb... Which one had them with interplanetary war? Closest I remember is the Skrull gladiator world. That one was awesome. Mimic taking The Captain out in five seconds, Galactus showing up, renegade Falcon and radio-inventing Reed...

The only time they didn't was when Claremont took over and that's when I stopped reading until Jeff Parker came in for the reboot. Shame Marvel told him he could either do Exiles or Agents of Atlas but not both, I get why he picked Agents and I don't blame him, but his short run was dang good.

Also, Exiles is the reason why Blink is my Marvel Waifu

Exiles was great. Dark Avengers was a nice taste of the similar, too.

Marvel's strongest suit has always been 'What If's?', using AU's to really have fun messing with their mythology without having to worry about the state of canon afterwards.

Plus it lets writers get any issues they have with certain characters out of their system without ruining the character for his/her fans

>>
>>78119618
I'd count that as a blessing. Could have gotten a mini written by Bendis, or whoever wrote that Years of Future Past crap.
>>
>>78116304

I thought something happened that made Proteus *think* he was Morph, and the team was scared to death that the psychopathic reality warper would eventually remember his (its) true nature.

Its been a long time since reading, however.
>>
>>78116780

dumbass could have vaporized her at a 1% setting of his eyebeams. instead fires a full-power blast that was way, way overkill at a person he knew had portal powers.

I really hate it when bad guys lose from being dumb. Especially when they were previously shown to be clever. Its lazy as hell writing, but in all fairness its rampant in western literature.
>>
>>78119706
when has he ever been clever?
>>
>>78115351
Yes, untill Chuck "the destroyer of all things X-Men" got ahold of them.

This is the most important reason I don't read ongoing comics anymore, with the other being DeFilips and Weir loosing New X-Men Vol 2.

Random people get established storylines, change everything into a comic book that doesn't even feel remotly the same and still get to keep the name.
It's like Fallout 3, only it happens all the time.

>>
>>78117805
A lot of the deaths in Exiles seemed pointless.

Look, a new team member. Oh, she died. Well, we can always go to another dimension and replace her with someone just as good.
>>
>>78119844
Austen wrote Exiles #26-30 and #38-45.
>>
>>78115788
Illyana's descent into madness was pretty good. She put up a front to not show weakness to the team but she was freaking out the entire time. It's a shame they cut her out so quickly but Exiles have a massive death toll anyway.

>>78119653
It did. Then they came to an agreement and sorta merged.
>>78116361
Nah. Hyperion killed her for an experiment almost immediately when she "betrayed" the exiles to try and survive. She just wanted to go home.
>>
>>78116780
Maybe a stupid as fuck Superman. Superman would use his fucking super speed to whoosh her away to a no-teleportation prison (plenty of villains can teleport so they exist) and bam, she's beaten. He then has a nice civil chat with her while she's rendered inert, realizes she's a good guy, then helps her save the day.

Superman doesn't lose, atleast not for good.
>>
>>78119207
Superman does have a (minor) healing factor. It just almost never comes into play since damaging him is hard as hell.
>>

I liked the bugs once they became just another part of the team, but it felt like they intended to go a different way up until the reveal. They built the Timebroker/breaker thing up to be this big insidious mystery, and then it's just a bit of a let down

Can't fault the bugs logic though. 'Oh shit we fucked things up. We'll gather together some of the best heroes from the multiverse to fix it!'
>>
>>78121578

One thing that always bothered me about the Timebreakers was how, if there was a definite, conscious intelligence behind the Tallus, why was it barely ever straightforward with them? Like that first mission. The bugs could have just gone "no, Xavier will kill people, don't do that." The obvious explanation is that the bugs weren't conceived of at that time, but they never tried to come up with an explanation once the bugs were created.
