Earlier in the comic I would've disagreed with you. I identified a lot with Matt at first. But he's so fucking passive and apathetic that in his own way he's just as bad as Rinnie. He's every awful "nice guy" trait you can think of.
I thought Rinnie was growing on me until the little interlude with the HVAC guy when I remembered she's still a hateable asshole, now she's just one with a job.

Well, the authors did say after the Logan flashback arc the format of arcs and chapters in general was going to be a bit mroe subdued in order to avoid slow pace and slow development.
They did said big story chunks will happen in the future, but for now this is more of the downtime after such a long chapter.
